LOVE LOVE LOVE this thumbnail Matty!! It literally Jumped out of the screen at me and I had to see what it was about!! I had no idea it was yours until it started playing!! Nice work 👌
Great job Matt - I’m going to do the same for my Van. I’ll also need to remove the rear wheels too due to space in the garage - where did you get the 140cm slides? The biggest I’ve found have been 100cm

Hello, a good informative video 🥂 Please could you point me in the right direction to those aluminium or steel brackets you used for mounting the runners/frame to the floor. Thanks
Thanks for this video! What is the weight of this slide out rack? Most people seem to build them from plywood, which I guess is heavier. The rails seem hevy, though. Thanks!
I haven’t weighed it yet but I agree the the actual rails are very heavy. I was originally going to put another one in but think I will leave it at one.
This is a great idea. But I thin it would foul on the brackets to attach it to the floor. But I’m going to have another look when I refit it as it’s out at the moment.
Yes mate. I used this company who I gave my design to (that bit of paper) and then they speced it and cut the pieces to length. There are cheaper companies but they had massive lead times of 4-6 weeks where as these guys turned it round in 2 days. www.item24.com/en-gb/automatic-fastening-set-8-bright-zinc-plated-38808
Thanks! That makes sense, the extrusion is ITEM and I’ve used Bosch Rexroth. They have something similar actually, so I think I’ll give it a go. I might use that company that you used for future projects
iIt will bolt through the floor with some aluminium brackets I made. It’s in the video just before we test for it. Weight wise the company that supplied the aluminium profile and fixings speced the size of the aluminium to suit the brief of carrying a couple of e bikes so I am sure it will be fine. I do look forward to testing it when it’s bolted in.
Are you bolting them all the way through onto the actual van floor or simply screwing it to the wooden floor? Weight-wise, I am worried about the wood screws holding the weight when the platform is pulled out completely.
I put the cost in the video I think And I think it was the company was called item24.com and the guy that helped me has commented on the video. Ask for him top bloke.
Thanks pal. 140x80cm. I did it to width of my bars I’ve not had three bikes on it yet but looking at when I had two on it will easily take three with room to spare maybe a 4th. Grab your fork mounts and screw them to a bit of wood like I did. Mock it up. Don’t forget your wheels though as they take up a fair amount of room.

Thanks rich. I was literally about to shoot another one as was on two minds but I will leave it ❤️
I built exactly the same in my Ducato a few years ago. I’ve put eyelets down both sides for strapping in other items Thunderbird 2 style. 👍🏼🚐🛠
That is a great idea I may have to borrow that I was wondering how I’m going to tie other things down when not being used for bikes.
Really enjoyed watching this! The van is coming along really good! Well done for figuring out the automatic fasteners too😊. From James at MBS
Thanks James. And thanks for the help.
Beautiful,it’s getting there .❤
Thanks Gerty ❤️

Thanks pal. EBay I think mine were 48 inch 120cm.

@@abucklife cheers for the quick response!
@ welcome any time.
What was the thickness of the aluminium plate and where did you get from, thank you
1.5mm chequer plate from chequer plate direct. 👍👍
Hello, a good informative video 🥂 Please could you point me in the right direction to those aluminium or steel brackets you used for mounting the runners/frame to the floor. Thanks
Hi thanks. They were just some L shape aluminium 80x80 I think cut down to 40mm and then drilled. 👍
Hey what company did you use for the aluminium profile please !
I think it’s in the comments. I think it was called item aluminium.
Thanks for this video! What is the weight of this slide out rack? Most people seem to build them from plywood, which I guess is heavier. The rails seem hevy, though. Thanks!

I will weigh it when I get a minute.
Could you have put the aluminium sheet on the bottom of the frame to give extra clearance for the bed?
This is a great idea. But I thin it would foul on the brackets to attach it to the floor. But I’m going to have another look when I refit it as it’s out at the moment.
This is exactly what I’m after when I start my build. I see you have been to Revs, have you been back since it’s opened back up?
No pal not yet. Had a few MTB injuries and kids 😅
Have you? Any good?
I was there last week. They’re slowly getting back up and running, but it definitely looks weird not riding through trees anymore.
@@marcwhale3430 I’m happy for them. Mad they had to shut. My favourite bike park.
Those connector bolts are interesting. Haven’t come across those before. Any chance you have a link to them?

They were spot on.
How do you bolt it to the floor of the van? How do you ensure that it holds the weight when fully extended?

I’m bolting it all the way through the floor. Wood screws would defiantly not be good.
Which company did you use for the alu profile and how much did it cost?
I put the cost in the video I think And I think it was the company was called item24.com and the guy that helped me has commented on the video. Ask for him top bloke.
Really like this design
Would you mind sharing the dimensions?
Do you think you could have made it slightly slimmer for 3 bikes?
Thanks pal. 140x80cm. I did it to width of my bars I’ve not had three bikes on it yet but looking at when I had two on it will easily take three with room to spare maybe a 4th. 50 quid for the runners, 25 each? where did you get those from sounds like a good deal!
Just off eBay. ‘Pair Heavy duty draw runners’ 👍
@@abucklife Done suppose you have a link or ebay item number? - I've searched but cant see ones similar. (probably being think!)🤣
325296131510 eBay number. No problem. I think they have put them since I bought them to £70
Do you both like to mountain bike? 😍
Ginny loves a country ride and I like downhill.
