Wow, what a creatively inspiring video, some truly epic images and the combination of your real life commentary, the drone footage and the music make for great entertainment. I am officially addicted, keep on Adrian
Usually, 20 minutes is enough, but that was the best 56 minute photography video I’ve ever watched. When it finished, I wanted more. Fabulous, Adrian ! 👌🇦🇺🙃
LOL! Thank goodness for the wellies!! I learn so much from watching your videos about black and white photography. Each time, another little piece of the puzzle!! Thanks for taking us along and have a great week.
Yes haha, those wellies have been the most important piece of gear I could have had here in Scotland. I'm glad you liked the video, thanks for coming along :)
@@aowsYou're welcome! Question: I tried to create an image yesterday and get that creamy overcast sky, but I don't have an ND filters. So, that long exposure didn't work. Question is, what range of ND is necessary and would a variable ND be sufficient? Thanks!!
@@charliejg it depends on how long you want your exposures to be. To give you an idea, a 6-stop ND filter will take a 1 second exposure to 1 minute. But getting a 1 second exposure can be very tricky, even using base ISO and a very small aperture, especially on brigth-ish days. Try to get to that 1 second exposure with your camera / lens, you might have to go to f/22 or beyond. That's why I have another 2 ND filters, a 10 and a 15 stop. The 10 will take a 1/15 exposure to that same 1 minute. And a 15 stop will take a 1/500 exposure to 1 minute. 1/500 is more realistic, even in bright days, and that's how I'm able to get 1, 2, 4, 8 or even longer long exposures during the day. Hope this helps.
The path down to Talisker Bay just gave me nightmare flashbacks. The day i went it was so windy the waterfall on the far cliffs was going upwards, and the wind blew my tripod over and broke a lens. That was not a happy evening.
Ugh, I can see that. Scotland can have some rough weather, but I experience the worst on the western Isles, especially Harris but also Skye. It can get so windy that it's scary. I'm sorry to hear about your lens... I dropped a few things on this trip myself, thankfully didn't break a lot.
I rarely comment, but your tour of Scotland and previously Norway had me enthralled. The ariel footage of Skye was so lovely, I found it very moving. I know the places you have visited and love them a lot.I find your pictures and way of talking about them unique and so good luck and I hope you are soon back for another visit !
Thank you so much, Charlie! Scotland reminds me quite a bit of Norway, some landscapes are eerily similar. I loved them both very much, and I can't wait to revisit some of those magical locations I was thankful to visit and photography. Glad you liked the images I made of them. Thanks for watching!
Thank you, Geoff! Glad you liked it, even though it was a long one. I had a great time in Skye and felt like if any place deserved an hour long video it was this one.
Well done awos a beautiful photographic journey through Skye. Your love of monotone and your square formatting captures superbly this wonderful and epherial island. Regards Rob Clipsham
One of your best videos, I loved it. The images were gorgeous particularly the stones on the beach. The video also shows the difficulties and discomforts you overcome to bring us this content. Well done you are a star. I can’t wait for the book.
Glad you enjoyed the video, Richard! I love photography the most when it's challenging but not overwhelming, when the weather pushes you but still gives you a window of opportunity, when you are about to lose faith but somehow manage to make an image you could dream of hours earlier. It's not easy, but it's totally worth it. Scotland did push me quite a bit, and I loved every minute of it. Thank you so much for coming along, there are still a few more videos from this beautiful country.
An absolutely stunning production Adrian, filled with incredible imagery. Beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed the longer Vlog. Thank you so much for taking us all with you on your journey ❣️
Inspiring Adrian! The images are sublime and your honesty as a photogapher is a lesson to us all. After all the years I have been on YT this is the first time I have commented.
I enjoyed every minute of your video and look forward to seeing more. Great photography in a great location with great commentary. Very inspiring. Thank you.
Looking forward to your next video of Scotland and Looking forward to the book next year .would be amazing if the book worked within the video's there's some amazing footage from your videos. I hope you get what im trying to say. I'm not very good with words.
Hi Adrian, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the beautiful Isle of Skye, what a great place you visited. I liked those Pebble rocks at the beach of elgol, and those small puddles and rock on the left with that long exposure image.I also liked the lighthouse especially in Black and White. It was nice to hear those Bagpipes and i learned something new about the Bagpipes, and the association with Spain. Those Damn Midges they are everywhere you can't escape them, at least they didn't stop you from taking great images. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video. 😃
Your work is so beautiful and inspiring ! It is so refreshing to see someone who knows how to capture the beauty of BW, and the use of 1:1 is so powerful thanks so much
Another really great video from you Adrian, absolutely fabulous and very, very inspiring! May I ask you what camera monitor you use that can be seen here and there? I would be very interested to know! Thank you for your answer and keep up your great work! All the best to you, Michael.
Haha, it's totally worth it! It takes a bit of effort to get out when it's so horrible outside, but once you get wet, you don't care anymore and just keep going :)
I love using the screen of my camera for that. The monitor I showed in the video is just to record the screen to share in these videos, the resolution is pretty terrible. But the built-in screen in the camera is something I use all the time for lower shots, and when on the tripod.

This is no longer a vlog but a beautiful documentary.
How I enjoy this, Adrian.
My wife thinks I’m the only person who photographs in these conditions, I love the mist and rain so much atmosphere, keep on doing what you’re doing

This was such a treat, thankyou! Also you gotta hand it to Scotland, where else would you find a bog on top of every mountain...
Thank you, Kate! Indeed, Scotland is truly a special place...

Very nice to see you including some panos when the setting benefits from it. Lovely, as always.
Yes! Scotland is a good place for panoramas, for sure. Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks as usual for taking the drone! I walked and shot pretty much every place you did in this video, but I never saw such vistas!
Such an interesting video and also to learn more about your style and approach. Many wonderful photographs. Thank you for such a generous video.
