  • On September 12th, the first production unit of the 2024 New Flyer XE40 NG bus order for Michael J. Quill depot was delivered and entered service on the MJQ operated M11 school tripper, which was exceptionally different considering the route is normally operated by Manhattanville Depot, who is not receiving these electric buses. The next day, 4981 was placed into service on the M8, and then the M22, marking its first runs on Michael J. Quill bus routes and the first time a bus of this order has entered service since the removal of the temporary pilot units, 4965 and 4966 which were both returned to New Flyer. Most 2024 New Flyer XE40 NG's are currently allocated within Grand Avenue Depot in Brooklyn, including buses previously speculated to be a part of other depots orders, such as Michael J. Quill, Kingsbridge and East New York. It's still somewhat up in the air if Charleston Depot of Staten Island will also be receiving these buses at this time. Since 4981's first and second day of service, 4982 has also been delivered and entered service in MJQ, as well as 4986 being delivered to Kingsbridge Depot and marking the first time Kingsbridge has operated a bus of this order, as well as a standard electric bus and standard length New Flyer Xcelsior of their own outside of loans. #mtabus
