Thank you, I made the scones today, subsisting the milk and lemon for buttermilk and leaving out the sugar which I don't allow in the house, but added some sultanas instead. I also didn't bother with the cookie cutter, I simply cut the dough into six equal(ish) pieces that I rolled into balls and squished slightly on the baking tray. I say six, because I made them a little larger and I'm baking for one. Four of them will go in the freezer. They were delicious I will definitely use the recipe again 😋
Hi Becky I've made these twice since then and they tasted amazing. Prompted to cook scones this coming weekend for a tea party so I'm making my own. Thank you for all you're recipes, truly needed. God bless you sister.
Yum!!!! I cut them in half and have jam and cream with no lid, that way it makes more! I have not had them in years though since being gluten free, so I am so flipping excited to make them thankyou so much
Thank you, I haven’t had scones in years due to having celiac disease. I never really fancied GF scones, but these look really good, there a must try for me. 👍
I am so grateful to have found your videos. I have just found out that I have a gluten intolerance and although I wasn't surprised, I was devestated because I have always loved to bake and cook, I am so excited to try your Brownies and your scones ❤️ hopefully my boyfriend will like them too as he's not liked many gluten free things I've tried yet😂❤️
Looks good, I'm going to try this recipe tomorrow. I don't have lemon juice in the house, butI do have leftover buttermilk from making soda bread, so I'll use that instead.
Mine looked great but fell apart when I cut them. The upper layer was airy and dry and lightly crumbly, almost like a very light cookie. The inside was perfect! And the taste wonderful. Changes I made - I didn't add xantham - but the flour already had it. I used half coconut sugar half caster (didn't have enough) I left it in a bit longer because they weren't browning. I also didn't have a cookie cutter so I used my hands to make each scone. I doubled the bicarb (because Ive used this flour before and tends to need extra) Definitely worth another try 😋
B4 i used to eat them but now i cant now i got celiac disease so will try making them i love ur chanel cause i can get the ingredients from store .tesco, Morrison easy available. Any uk store
I made these yesterday, well attempted to anyway. While they tasted lovely they were very crumbly and a bit dry... I must have gotten something wrong following the instructions 🤔 Any tips?
Hey!! So I just made these and they're AMAZING!!!! BUT, mine were quite crumbly, like to the point that I can't spread softened butter on them. Does anyone know how I can rectify this for next time? Thanks!
I needed this! I was being naughty yesterday and eating my mum's scones, I definitely need to make some gf ones! However, the supermarkets are all out of gf free flour for some reason! But i am definitely gonna make these as soon as we have some.
Try other flours like oat. It might be a bit heavy for scones but makes great muffins and soda bread. I buy very cheap oats and mill them in my blender until fine.
Becky, you have helped me a lot. I am a young person with ibs and in the past year have develop painful colon spasm/cramps. I have a question if you ever get this because I am worrying about it . I also get acid reflux. :’(
I am an older person and have had this sine a child it drive's me crazy am going to try Bimuno pro biotics hope it helps but consult a doctor if you're on medication Eileen peace to you
Yes - it's a ganglion cyst, they just appeared one day and I hate them 😂 I wouldn't advise using coconut flour as it becomes really, really thick when you introduce it to liquids. I'd always recommend a gluten-free flour blend instead!
Becky Excell so a normal gluten free flour how about oat flour 😂I was watching somethink on tv like what you got on your hand she got it removed and it came back is it like that she got attached to it as well she wanted to keep it in a jar 😂😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭🥴🥴🥴not even jokeing 😂😂😂😂
Thank you Becky - Can you tell me... does lime juice work as an alternative to lemon? I'm allergic to lemons (and oranges) so couldn't use that in my baking.
Any citrus should work in souring Becky's homemade buttermilk concoction I would think🤷🏻♀️ I'm going to attempt the recipe with both readymade b/milk & her suggestion, & maybe Nigella's: a mix of natural/Greek yoghurt & milk wi citrus. 👌🏽 results in her buttermilk cake☺️ Happy baking🙂
I’ve got really warm hands and always struggled with scones and pastry, however, I purchased a pastry cutter from Amazon (approximately £10) a few years ago and the difference is unbelievable.
Thank you for sharing your gluten-free recipe for scones. Looks delicious. I have just started my own gluten-free channel. I usually shared cooking recipes as I am not much of a baker, and I’m China where I live (normally) I don’t have an oven. However, since I am currently in Canada, I have the opportunity to bake again. Since then I have started baking cookies and GF breads. I would love if you can take a look at my channel and tell me what you think. Thank you.
At least your dough turned out properly. I went off a recipe and ended up having to make a cake as the dough turned out like a cake batter. Should have stuck with a tried and trusted method and my own judgement. 125 grams of flour, sorry recipe you lose you are fine for cake though.
Americans seem to eat their scones, or as you say “biscuits” with savoury foods though. Like mash and gravy, right? At least that’s what I have seen on Tv
A nifty trick I got from a tv chef is to grate your chilled butter into your dry ingredients.
Thanks for this 👌

Thanks for sharing your recipes. You give me confidence in the kitchen baking for my grandsons. I am 74 going to give it a go. 🙏🏼
Becky thanks for this..I'm going to bake these for Queens jubilee tomorrow. I hope mine come out like yours.
Did you make buttermilk with the lemon ?
So excited to make these I always feel like its a punishment been gluten and lactose sensitive, thank you Becky x
They look delicious Becky! Also the method was very well explained. Thanks
Love the way u explaining the way through cooking, cant get it wrong.
Yum!!!! I cut them in half and have jam and cream with no lid, that way it makes more! I have not had them in years though since being gluten free, so I am so flipping excited to make them thankyou so much
I'm going to try and make these as mini cheese scones for a picnic ♡
The reason why is cos when you cut them out you must bake them face up down, but looks great
Thanks for this, absolutely awesome baking tips! Gluten free and delicious and looking the same as wheat ones! Love it.
Thank you, I haven’t had scones in years due to having celiac disease. I never really fancied GF scones, but these look really good, there a must try for me. 👍

Your scones look marvelous! Thank you!
Can you use cheese and chives in the body of this recipe?
Yes! I do that too

Definitely worth another try 😋
Edit.. once they cooled they were both dry and gummy and the same time :( and I think it was a poor choice to add bi carb
Baking powder, not bi carb!
Thank you!! Amazing turn out and I'm terrible.... love the tips and trouble shooting!
B4 i used to eat them but now i cant now i got celiac disease so will try making them i love ur chanel cause i can get the ingredients from store .tesco, Morrison easy available. Any uk store
Scones own their cracks! They’re delicious crack semi-sweet biscuits for tea! Thank you for this recipe!
I made these yesterday, well attempted to anyway.
While they tasted lovely they were very crumbly and a bit dry... I must have gotten something wrong following the instructions 🤔
Any tips?
Defo going to try these next, they look scrummy. I have them the Cornish way (jam first, cream on top)
Hey!! So I just made these and they're AMAZING!!!! BUT, mine were quite crumbly, like to the point that I can't spread softened butter on them. Does anyone know how I can rectify this for next time? Thanks!
I dont like to eat Jam and cream together so I have one side jam and one side cream and have them on a plate like you would toast xx
They look delish! Can they be frozen.
What about currents
Add what you like. I put grated cheese in mine. Dried cranberrys are good too.
Is lemon juice in place of buttermilk?
Thank you!
Just found you your recipes are great I'm gluten free try coconut sugar it's nice aswell thanks so much

Hope you can find some gf flour soon, I haven't seen any in weeks now!! x
@@BeckyExcell I know its so annoying i wanted to try out a few of ur recipes during lockdown! Im gonna try and order some offline.
Thank you so much for sharing your recipes .
Delicious 🤤 I need to make these when I can get some gluten free flour! I can’t find any 😢
I’m in Canada and we can’t get gluten free f
flour what would you suggest to do

Wow, they look very good! What is that shaker you used for flour? It looks quite peculiar to me.
I need to try this!! I am always sharing gluten free recipes on my channel, but haven't tried this one!!
Thank you for this! I've been looking for a good gf scone recipe and these look so good!

Have you got a Growth or Tumour on your right hand lump on it totally of topic from the scones plus can you make them with coconut flour instead

These look soooo yummy!
Hi Becky, can you freeze the dough and bake them later if you want to have fresh scones every time? Or can you freeze them after you baked them?
Hello! I'd recommend freezing them after baking as the dough might not rise as well after freezing 💜
@@BeckyExcell thank you so much!
Love them and thanks
what if you don't have self raising flour can you use normal all purpose gluten free flour??
Yes! Just add 2 tsp of gluten-free baking powder and 1/4 tsp of xanthan gum per 150g of plain (or all purpose) gf flour x
Thank you Becky - Can you tell me... does lime juice work as an alternative to lemon? I'm allergic to lemons (and oranges) so couldn't use that in my baking.

@@Lokifan21 thank you. I actually tried the lime juice and it worked perfectly! Good luck with your experiment 🤞🏻☺️
You can also use cider vinegar or white wine vinegar.
@@enkisdaughter4795 Thank you
Half way between a muffin and a biscuit. That is a scone.
We always had triangle scones that way they are all even in size and shape
They're great 👍
These are great made a large batch 👍
They look so tasty. Might have a go making some today 👍🏻🤗🌈 xx
Thanks Gina, let me know how they turn out!
loved this video only thing is the camera angle prevented us seeing how much rise happened.
I’ve got really warm hands and always struggled with scones and pastry, however, I purchased a pastry cutter from Amazon (approximately £10) a few years ago and the difference is unbelievable.
Flour your cutter every time before cutting 👍
Looks lovely although clotted cream really kills my gut...just too much fat. I use Marshmallow fluff! It’s low in fat and lactose free.
Helpful vedio
Oooh am I first? These scones look good!
Thanks so much! x
Can't even see the recipe for Ads on your blog :(
I can't find the ingredients and recipe. Shame. They look good.

@@brionnyvaus4515 Yes. And their gravy is nothing like ours either, lol.

I give thumbs down, to people who waste my time. Put up the measurements. My time is important too.
