To me, this is Zion's last year to cash in on the 2019 draft hype. If he doesn't perform this year, I think the public will officially declare Ja Morant as the best player in the class.
the public already has… a long time ago. I still believe Zion is better when both are healthy but while Ja has some availability issues himself, for Zion it’s just ridiculous
@henry7486 you have poor comprehension. Zion IS fool's gold. You even said it yourself. He's winning you games IF he plays. But he's not. It's schrodinger's cat, but the cat is the games that he can play.
You right. He has so much talent and he has shown he's capable of dominating the league if he's healthy and focused. But after his first four seasons, it's not looking like he's going to have a successful career
The problem here is that Zion’s intangibles are as questionable as his tangible, health related issues. Zion is already unsteady physically bc of his weight issues/injury issues… and mentally frankly he simply doesn’t seem to be mature yet. That means even if he’s not injured it’s not likely everything will go right. It’s hard enough to win even if everything is going right… and I don’t know that he has the intangibles to stay consistent long enough to win. History tells me it’s not likely and even if he does it a few years he’s more likely to simply be a one and done for deep playoff runs
These kids are just blessed with the physical talent to play the game and get into it chasing the lifestyle, the money and fame. They don't care about winning nor have the mental tools to do their job after they sign the first big contract. He's a multimillionaire and is still a kid. Why do people expect any better from these kids is beyond me.
Makes us appreciate Lebron's body of work, he has been incredibly focused and driven for his entire career. Zion's talent is undoubtedly in the same level as Lebron's, Zion however lacks everything else.

Yeah exactly. Silk sheets metaphor Is super applicable. They're paid off of potential and their high school/college mixtapes. It's a shame the passion goes before we as fans get to see real hoppers. Zion is always capable of being an all star but he probably doesn't love the game.
MJ talked about this in an interview. He said that most of today's players are paid off based on their potential. They are offered big contracts and millions of dollars even before they played a single game. In most cases, this creates a comfort zone and most players no longer feel the need to perform and compete at the highest level. There is no hunger to prove themselves, just distractions and drama to make them feel relevant. Zion might look like a tank but he is clearly not in the best physical and mental condition to compete. Sad to say, in all the 4 years that he's in the NBA, the only thing he has proven is that he is a bust.
He is definitely not a bust…he just shouldn’t be a superstar…he doesn’t have the drive…to stay in shape..not get in shape but stay in shape…when he gets hurt….he can’t or doesn’t work out…and gains weight…the injury heals up…but he’s gained like 10-20 pds of fat….he comes back…plays for like two weeks…gets hurt again…but for those two weeks…he balls out….he definitely isn’t a bust…the dude said his numbers were like 25 pts. 8 rebs.. on 65% shooting…and he can shoot free throws…
Exactly. This is a league based on performance, not potential... and yet, the NBA reached such a weak position, they are pampering their athletes way too much. If Zion think NOLA is treating him poorly, no one in the NBA are willing to pay for his "potential"... then hell, go play in China, let's see him earning even 5% of what he could earn in the US. The rest of the world don't care, Giannis and Luka could move to Madrid tomorrow and the rest of Europe would not even glance at it
Honestly though, and this is just in my opinion, Zion Williamson should have not complained of what the fans have experienced over the last three seasons with him because like they literally had nothing going for themselves until Zion came because was Anthony Davis requested a trade it really just came crashing down for the pelicans and I’m really just sorry for them because Zion Williamson probably should’ve gotten traded and I’m just really amazed that he still actually a New Orleans pelican
No NBA team can win without it's star. Zion was supposed to be that star for NO basketball. He, rightfully, recognizes the team can't win big without him on the court. No team has "anything going" for themselves if their best player misses 75+% of games. Nuggets, Bucks, 76ers, Lakers, etc. Take away Jokic, Giannis, Embiid, Lebron, etc from those teams for that number of games and they're all lottery dumpster fires too.
Yeah, it’s a real shame when you see stars like Zion, who have all the talent potential to become all Time greats but due to personal issues and injuries, it takes away from his potential, he sad like he could literally be a top five best player in the NBA easily if he didn’t have these type of problems
Would love to hear you talk about what the hell is going on with Julius Randle? Dude is putting up all-time worst numbers to start the season. Is it his injury from the playoffs last season? Zion's career earnings in the first 4 years are 45 million and he played a total of 114 games, averaging 400K per game played. That's just the money he got according to his Pelicans contract.
