      @@Chardansearavitriol A lot of HRT operators are recruited from Delta and Ranger regiment. MP5 use when this was filmed wasn't an SAS influence, really. It was shorter and lighter than the M4 Carbine, and the significantly shorter barreled MK18 didn't exist yet. When operating in a confined space or from a vehicle you want the shortest barrel realistically possible, and the MP5 family fit the bill well for the time. This is also why the SAS used them.

    The MP5 in 10mm is such a cool concept. Too bad it didn't last. I guess the wear on parts was just too much, as well as the widespread adoption of the AR platform by police agencies.

    • @GusFogle
      @GusFogle 4 роки тому

      @Jack Benton Not to mention domestically manufactured ARs are far cheaper to widely adopt than dealing with importing expensive German hardware ;-) I have a semi automatic SBR'd MP5 in 9mm and if in close quarters I would pick it over any of my AR's. I can put more rounds on target quickly and most imporantly, the concussion isn't deafening. Short barreled AR's in particular are especially rough in terms of concussion, even more so in doors. Moot point though, the age of sub machine guns is pretty well over.

    • @GusFogle
      @GusFogle 4 роки тому

      @Jack Benton From the "operator" perspective, that makes sense. The AR is clearly ballistically superior, even with a short barrel. I can only speak from the perspective of a civilian gun enthusiast who owns both an MP5 and AR's. If I had to pick one to run indoors without access to a suppressor, I'd pick the MP5. Pistols are still viewed as relevant today, and I see the MP5 essentially as a bridge between pistols and long guns- due to the stock, it can be fired more accurately than pistols, and the longer barrel provides better perforance than you'd get from a standard pistol. So in my opinion, subguns aren't as good as rifles, but they are still better than pistols.

    • @theoneand0nly874
      @theoneand0nly874 3 роки тому +1

      The 10mm doesn’t wear as much as you think, those guns can last 30 years if you take care of them. Use the right locking piece and replace extractors and ejectors every half decade and your good. You can get a 10mm clone for around $3000 which isn’t much and that’s brand new

When the entire team arrived on scene the locals had already dealt with the situation. Another time the team leader denied permission to use tear gas in a hostage rescue because the cost of cleaning up afterwards was too high. The reason for this comical situation was because the government put an accountant in charge of the special response team.

      Press check, just making sure there’s one in the chamber.

      Sort of, you can enter the tactical recruitment program so you only have to serve 2 years as a SA

      Tactical recruitment program gets you to HRT in 2. Nobody goes to HRT after the academy. But you can go to a Divisional SWAT team while you wait.
