What do YOU think is the best feeling in a poker hand?
    A. Flopping the nuts?
    B. Getting a huge bluff through?
    C. Making a hero call?
    D. Something else..? 🤯

  • @coolandchill1468

I think the best bluffs here are J9,JT and lower hearts like T9. Having KQ of hearts, for example, blocks a higher number of Hook’s river value combos that are bad to bluff catch when facing a raise like AK,AQ no diamond. I think being selective with heart bluffs is important to not accidentally over bluff.

this hand best illustrates what the best player i ever knew once told me , "The key to poker is aggression, but the secret to poker is folding" i used to mull that over never quite getting it, here we have one guy being aggressive on every street , then he's met with even more aggression on the river, does aggression win the day or does folding win the day? here folding wins but this is an extreme example, i still haven't figured out that quote, maybe he was messing with my head. at the end when hook said " nice check on the river" it dawned on me the old adage, "you're only going to get called by better" it sucks to lose value but next time i'm in this situation i'm checking back.

Problem with GTO and finding Jx bluff raises on the river like this is that if opponent who hits flush calls too much, then your bluffs become horrible quite fast.

    • @TheJGB2112

Not really, because on the other side of the coin is your value, and if they are calling too much and you structure correctly, you will still win money. Having said this.. you are right, a good exploit is not bluffing to calling stations and just printing in this spots 👍🏼

I opened AcQx for $20 from the CO in a 2/5 cash game, and had about $1,100 behind. BTN and BB called. Pot $60.
Flop KcJh5c. BB checked. I bet $40. BTN folded. BB called. Pot $140. I had $1,050 behind and BB had me covered.
Turn Ts. BB checked. I bet $100. BB x/r’ed to $350. I considered 3b jamming but ultimately just called, because I thought he had 2-pair and I block nfd, and a shove may look too much like a set or better. He was playing tight-passive. Pot $840.
River Ks. BB quickly put out $1,100 to put me all in for my last $700. I folded and said “Nice boat”. He said, “I didn’t have a boat.” I said, “Then nice bluff.” He said, “No, I was somewhere between a boat and a bluff.”

Action Dan's logical hands that *could* try a bluff would be KQ, KT or QT of hearts. He might raise with those on the flop, but since Hook has all the AX in his range, raising the flop might cause a reraise and Action could get blown off his equity. He would likely call those on the turn as well, given the turn bet was largish but not pot sized or above.
Of course Hook blocks (to some degree) all those hands. Plus the river shove is giving him 2 to 1 on a call, so its not a gigantic bluff.
Would Action do this with a value hand like JT of diamonds? Maybe. Hook blocks that some as well, and with a paired board Action might not try it with the third highest flush.
If I was Hook, my analysis would be that there are too many ways to lose, and not enough ways to win, to justify the call.

    • @denske1272
      @denske1272 Місяць тому

After analysis, I can get away from this river jam. We block loads of the logical bluffs AND the remaining bluffs (KxJd, QxJd) shouldn't be in our opponents range. Who turns TT-88 with a diamond into a bluff here?! You can only call if you think your opponent jams a load of low flushes (which they shouldn't have).

What hands should I be bluffing on the river? My first thought is some kind of jack. Maybe KJ with K of diamonds, and QJ with Q of diamonds, and then whatever other Jx we need. Blocking as much of the full house calling range as possible, and even perhaps having some showdown value when checked on the river vs give ups.
