    Hola Richard! Gracias por tu video! :) Is there any way to make the same repair without a commercial freezer, the mold plus heat plate and without the UV case? Meaning, with my own kitchen freezer an a heat gun? The timers are not clear as it doesn't show. Gracias! Hey Richard, been watching a lot of your videos. Trying to convince my business partner that minor waves don't matter to customers when they can save $100 on their repair doing glass only vs. replacing the whole display. We have the freezer machine and the moulds to prevent the waves...I notice in this video that you have minor waves (not the square waves for the battery slot and camera slot) towards the top of the AMOLED and some at the bottom too. In your experience, do ANY of your customers care about these? My business partner doesn't even like MINOR waves and I'm trying to convince him customers don't care

    • @RichardMeza
      @RichardMeza  5 років тому +2

      Customers dont care about minor waves. When I used to take the glue off by hand, like putting pressure rolling it off with my thumbs, the waves were alot worse. But the cleaning molds helped out greatly with that and also that spinning rod tool I have. The spinning rod doesnt push down into those battery parts like my thumb rubbing it off did. The combination of the two is what helped out with that alot. $100 is a big difference when you are competing against another business. It's not like comparing $10-$20. Customers know that too. They call around when they think something is pricey. If you have a freezer and the next business doesnt. That customer who knows nothing about screen repair are going to compare your $150 price to the next guy at $250. And if your business has good reviews on the internet, that's going to seal it. What would you do?? You should tell your partner, let the customer decide what they want. Maybe have a spare phone there that already has a glass only repair and keep it there to show the customer if they ask. It could be the way you word it. Alot of people just get their screens fixed to trade it in for upgrade to the new model. Your partner could also be missing out on money on people who dont care when they are trading it in the next day anyways. Once again the price difference of $100 for the same repair over the next guy is a big deal.

    • @nathanhitchcock7307
      @nathanhitchcock7307 5 років тому

      I couldn't agree with that more! Ok, so my only other question. My business partner's main rebuttal to glass only repairs is the risk of damaging the AMOLED or jacking up the repair. This is his rebuttal because he says we can just send the good AMOLEDs to a supplier for LCD Buyback credit. And it's guaranteed credit versus no guarantee that you damage the AMOLED or jack up the repair (such as getting LOCA in the front camera slot or proximity slot). Now I know that you're experienced at glass-only (and also I'm pretty sure you do send some of your good AMOLEDs off for LCD Buyback...I thought I saw that in one of your videos?) but what would you say your breakage rate is? Also, when you first started doing them what would you say it was? And lastly, if I'm right that you do still send off some of your good AMOLEDs for LCD Buyback then how do you determine what is a full display replacement so the good AMOLED can be sent off vs. doing a glass-only? (and btw man, I'm sorry to be a bother. I really appreciate your videos and want us to be doing what makes the most business sense!)

    • @RichardMeza
      @RichardMeza  5 років тому

      @@nathanhitchcock7307 compare your profit if you did it yourself vs selling them for LCD buyback credit. That's the answer. The LCDs I send off are for iPhones. I pay someone to refurbish them for me. I send them to China and have it done for cheap and they send them back to me. Following up on your last comment to convince your partner, why not have a spare phone in the shop that already has a glass only repair done on it. And after a customer has paid for their full display replacement, if they originally qualified for glass only repair, ask the customer for $100 less would they have done glass only repair and show them that phone that was already done with the freezer and glass repair. Let them test it out and see how many Yes you will start seeing. Maybe that will open your partner mind. I think your partner is just too scared that's the issue.

    • @nathanhitchcock7307
      @nathanhitchcock7307 5 років тому

      I appreciate that man. Yeah I'll talk to him about it for sure. There's a couple things you do in your videos that we haven't been doing. Like, you put yours in the heat station while removing the glue. We have that same heat station but have been removing the glue at room temperature. We do use that same roller device but since we're doing it at room temperature we have to apply more pressure. Sometimes the devil is in the details. I'll suggest the completed phone as well.

    • @nathanhitchcock7307
      @nathanhitchcock7307 5 років тому +1

      And btw dude, you get 100% credit for getting my business partner to do another go-around with glass-only. He's been in business for 5 years now (while I've only been doing it for 2 years). He's now made 3 go-arounds with glass only. He's always halted on it because of getting bubbles in the OCA. His first go-around was 2 years ago when I first started. He kept getting bubbles in the OCA even after putting the screens in the Delaminating machine he bought. So he gave up on it in favor of LCD Buybacks. Then, about a year or so ago we tried Gtool DRS (not sure of you heard of them). Again, the process mainly failed on the Delamination side and we already had bubbles in the OCA. So he halted on it again in favor of LCD Buyback. Then, like 2-3 months ago I come across one of you videos (not to mention, props man, cause you're fairly new in this industry, like about as new as I am aren't you? Sometimes a fresh perspective changes everything :)) where you are using LOCA to apply your glasses. It was a crazy moment for my business partner. When he first started 5 years ago, all he ever did was glass only repairs on the Galaxy S3s, S3s, and S5s. Cause with how weak the OCA was you could remove the broken glass by hand with just head. Then you'd simply reapply the new glass with LOCA. So when I sent him your video it was a lightbulb moment for him! He immediately bought a freezer machine. It just sucks that we're on go-around 3 and he's faltering again for LCD Buybacks exclusively. BUT, the point of this rant being man...we literally have been around refurbishing for 2 years and you literally were the FIRST we EVER came across doing the glass applications with LOCA. Props dude!

  • @waltermh111
    @waltermh111 5 років тому

    One more thing, you started this when phones were simpler, such as flat screens, no AMOLED, etc...
    the cost to start on those things seems to be lower than with AMOLED and the newer stuff.
    Glass only replacement is the way to go so many times these days but the start up cost seems to be very high for somebody new.
    For me to even get practice/experience, it seems I have to spend $500+
    Even your course is $500, more than I paid for a real estate investing course that has so many parts to it.
    I am not saying your course isnt worth it, but I am just saying I do simple phone repairs right now as a side job from home but already have people lined up for me to repair their newer phones, but trying to find out the low cost but effective way is a bit tough. I am still researching though.
    I can deal with longer work times while I am learning/practicing, so what would you say is the lower cost of doing this kind of repair effectively?
    I see that here you used the freezer, which I mentioned as a prohibitive cost, though quick and effective.
    I think you have used the heat gun as another option before, just takes longer, a little more physical work also.
    I will be getting that, $150 for the model I want which I am using for other things also.
    Then I am hearing $125 for a good vacuum heat plate, would love your recommendation.
    Then just saw you use the molds. I will look into the price for them, but being for each specific phone, that can add up.
    Then some other tools I will have to look into.
    I admit I am tempted to get your course, but its a steep price for me at the moment as I am still fairly new to this though I am enjoying getting further into it.

    • @RichardMeza
      @RichardMeza  5 років тому

      @@RichardMeza Yeah, I kept learning more after watching this video, and the only issue is getting the glass on without bubbles. Seems to be too unreliable without the autoclave and laminator (if doing OCA). But the autoclave is very expensive. I may try by hand anyway, but gotta get more experience and grow a little to justify the cost.
