Using an Oil and Wax Product to Revive and Refresh a Vintage Sewing Machine Case

Shoe polish sits on the surface of a vintage sewing machine case and does nothing to resolve the odor. A good oil and wax combination, such as Howard Feed N Wax, will penetrate the case restoring moisture to the wood and organic-based glue helping to redsolve odors, all while adding a beautiful shine.

Thank you! I followed the video from TFS to restore my box and then followed your suggestions in this video. My case looks so good and with no smell. My machine is a 1938 and my box is the appropriate one for the machine.

I usually start out with info from TFS. Good information there! Howard's Feed and Wax is great for cleaning and deodorizing your case and your machine as well.
Lucky you to have a '38! My "Annie" is a '47 and after I cleaned her up, she sews like a dream!!

OMG! I am in the middle of trying to deodorize my FW case! Also the interior Tolex fabric is completely peeling! I'm using wood glue to glue it back down.

Timing is everything! Howard Feed N Wax is great! I use it on my cabins to clean the grime from renters' off of kitchen cabinets and doors...does a very good job refreshing the wood surface and leaves behind a fresh smell...

Did you also use feed and wax on the inside of the case? The beginning of this video gave me the impression you did, you just didn’t show it on the second application to the outside of the case?

Yes...I certainly did use the feed and wax inside. I didn't film that part.
