Nice job. It is amazing wether in the UK, or USA all bike guys are the same. There's this passion for the perfect job to be done everytime you wrench on a bike. You clearly have the passion. Great video.

I do appreciate you getting back. I have an issue with the throttle body being stuck. After I swap out the cables, is there a way to externally lubricate the throttle body? I just don’t feel competent to go beyond that. Thanks
Thanks Del that was fun. Just a word about the ENGLISH wheel, watch your thumbs! Wear gloves. You'll know why after the first half hour! We all get excited over new tools in the workshop.
Seeing this video has made me realise that the somewhat slow-to-return throttle on my ZRX 1200 might be in need of some new cables! Thanks Delboy! Another great video!!!
Sure thing mate, it's really basic technology, you just gotta be a bit careful with the threads, as being aluminium and quite fine, they're quite easy to cross thread, or strip...!
As I now have come to expect from you Dell another very informative session packed full of pro tips and tricks. Thank you buy the way for helping to make me a better do it yourself motor bike mechanic.

The last time I was in a band was in Hickory about 12-15yrs ago. I live about an hour and a half further south now. Glad you are sharing stuff we would otherwise never get to hear.
Hi Kevin, exactly right, they are from Hickory, the band has been through some difficult challenges over the years, and a few personal problems as well, but they're still hanging in there, and a great bunch of guys... !
Hi Del. I was looking for a throttle cable install guide/vid (for my zx9 B3) there you were near the top. Nice video on the "clean ups". I am looking forward to the up coming metal works! Watch ur digits with that English wheel, those things BITE! Anyone who is good with a English Wheel is worth there weight in gold. Best of luck to you with that thing! ( I can make wrinkles fairly well). Just no where near where i want one, of course.. A little hint with the "sand bags", ya just might try making a "Shot Bag" with one or two. By loading the bag with bird shot in lieu of sand. The weight difference all but kills the sheet metal rebound when using forming mallets. The weight also holds things in place very well. In the shop we call them sand-bags, but they are leather bags filled with lead shot. The higher the number the finer the shot. #7, 8 & 9 are common for clay sports and are common but more expensive. Some shops sell the #6 through #0 on sale as it is only used for hunting loads. (Supply & Demand dictates co$t) Many of us re-loaders have ample amounts of odd size shot on hand. So ask around. It is unfortunate that the cost of shipping lead (Weight + Hazmat fees) is way out of the park to send you my excess. Perhaps check with a gun club?

Any tips on an R6 2005? I've done everything so far. Replaced cables, adjusted tension, cleaned throttle tube out (it does has a crack in the plastic near the bar end but not fouling the bar) The only thing i can think of is the pulley as i removed it to clean. But it snaps back fine without cables on. Soon as i install cables it just sluggishly rotates and i still have 1/8th of a turn left before it's at 0

Thank you sir, its an honour to have your faith and respect... been watching all of your videos in between working.. and damn you live in a stunningly beautiful place..!
Love these videos, just curious, o own a mk1 bandit 600, my throttle cable must be really slack, I've adjusted it out fully at throttle end and still seems like too much free play, which direction is to tighten the cable at the carburetor ends of the cables, clockwise or anticlockwise
So Del small piece of advice for the Wheel when it gets there. A: Do NOT try and curve metal for 8 hours straight! Your forearms will be screaming. I speak from experience on that. B: The different dies will put steeper and steeper curves into the hammered piece. Practice with each one separately so you know which one puts which curve rate on a sheet of metal. C: Work the metal, don’t let the metal work you. Good luck mate! Can’t wait to watch!
Thank you so much for that priceless advice sir., ill take it all on board, ir a totally new skill set for me and something i have wanted to learn for all my metalworking life... ive only bought a small portable wheel for now, no space for a proper one, and im sure it will still give me the principles i need to get started... Thank you again for the advice, that and the "watch your thumbs" will be in my ears as i start rolling my first ever sheet metal...
It's getting there Del... Not my type of bike but still very interesting and educational to watch, just like all the videos you do. I've learnt heaps off your chanel. Theres a guy called Ron Covell that teaches metal fabrication from frame building to pannel and tank making. Well worth a watch, he has a UA-cam chanel and a few tutorial videos specialising in English Wheels. I've got 3 of his vids so if you want to view them let me know and I'll get them to you one way or another. Keep up the good work dude... Oh, and hi to Penny
Thanks Ed, that's a kind offer... I really appreciate you taking the time to help, I have everything to learn on this and lots of theory to turn in to practice, so like with the lathe work and machining that I'm still very much learning, it will be a long, slow journey with a few mistakes along the way, am sure... but am gonna enjoy every step and stumble... if you need to get hold of me about the videos, just drop us a line to our email, which is: delboysgarage@yahoo.com keeps it private mate, thanks again, all the very best, D&Px
HI you had a lot of slack to attach the push pull at the grip......you didnt have it attached at the carb? i need to find some more slack somewhere lol thanks

Good on you ,been happy with your work on the bike that real something regards Robert visiting the USA always looking for some parts for motorcycles to take home in Australia
Great video, cheers. I recently changed my cables on a k4 gsxr and I've a fl light showing with the idle going up to 1500 rpm. Turn the bike off and on to clear it but happens again randomly. Could my cables be set too tight? I've no freeplay
Don't know without seeing it mate, but all cables should have a fraction of freeplay at least to allow the throttle stop to rest, so at least do that first and then see if it clears it.
question : after I adjust my throttle cable on my 2005 hayabusa it started working fine, the accelarator wont get stuck, but still has that hard starting, I move the choke lever up and dont start, move it down and after 5 attemps it starts in very low RPM s, any idea or advise, how do I know if my choke is working properly ? thanks, you are a good teacher.
Oooohhhhhh the smell of burning rubber in the morning mmmmmmm!!! Just rebuilt my master brake cylinder today and can't belive how easy it was, thanks for that vid Del and did Penny know you had her hair dryer??
Hi Del- looking mighty fine. I learned tons from your “faffing” lol. Can’t wait to see the American, err. English Wheel in action! Hope you both have a wonderful weekend! (The wife has her Bianchina in a car show today, so up early with coffee in hand as I write this.) 🏍👍🏍
Cracking Video Del, finally forward progress on the Busa lol, ask you a quick question if you don`t mind, 02 Triumph Bonneville America,, what is the best Die & Tap set to get for these mate, the metric one i have doesn`t come close to the correct thread gauge, once i get my tins back from hydrodipping / painting i`ll need to clear the excess paint out the threads, don`t wanna f`k it up on the rebuild, any advice mate please,, ain`t got a clue what thread gauge they would be. Cheers Buddy.
Hi Del. Viewer number 11. Comment number 1. Sad I know...but don't it feel good. Top video as usual. You really should have a tv show. This is proper reality lol.
Great series of videos refurbishing so far... maybe not your favourite part of a build but highly educational nonetheless. And thanks for taking a second to talk about those flat, smooth jawed adjustable pliers (wrench?) - I got schooled a couple of videos ago and it's nice to see them a little closer.
Hi Delboy! The Haynes manual for my bike mentions some lithium based grease between the bar and twist grip, would you recommend this or just a nice clean and polished surface as shown in this video? Cheers from Norfolk!
Much of the time, the throttle tube spins freely over a clean bar, you just don't need it, but if there is a bind in that area then a little waterproof grease will help for sure.
Hi del I'd like to see a video on you replacing the 1400 cables ..I'm guessing you're gonna need to remove throttle body . Of course I've put them on recently but wouod like to see if theu csn be done in situ given where they are situated. Nice work .
Have you ever tried Dri-Slide Graphite lubricant for your throttle cables? I used it doing 5000 and 10,000 mile services on Harleys up to the just past the Evos. Thanks again.
Hi buddy, yes I have, great stuff, I use it on squeaky belts (purely cos they're irritating) and on the chains on the bikes too, the Wurth Dry Lube is perfect for the job.
Hi there, there wasn't one on there, partly why it was probably leaking, I simply don't have any spare ones at the moment, I need to buy a packet, but it won't need it till the end when I finally plug it all in and fire it up!
@@Moonfleet41 hi Del , thanks for the reply, I suppose in a way it may not need one , not being under pressure, but I suppose it would be best to fit one. Great series Del looking forward to the progress. Regards
As you may have seen with my carb strip video (on my Triumph Legend posted online last week), I just pulled the carbs out, which didn't take too long and was able to replace the cable dead easy, so it's a trade off of time, take an extra 1/2hr to disconnect the fuel line and pull the carbs out, or spend 2hrs fiddling around in a dark tiny space trying to connect the new cable end... sometimes it's easier to just strip things and get at the job!
Just bought a busa my second gen 1 2000 model with 120000 km on the clock. Do all maintane myself thanks to Dell i got a UA-cam service manual 👍👍🙂
Nice one Claus, have fun with the bike and enjoy the videos..

Thank you sir, its an honour to have your faith and respect... been watching all of your videos in between working.. and damn you live in a stunningly beautiful place..!
Finally the video i was looking for👍
Bang tidy by the master craftsman!
I've realy enjoyed watching the "faffing about" videos and look forward to the fabrication vids... Cheers del.. 👍
Great Video Sir!!!
Love From India!!!😃😃
Thank you Sir, welcome aboard!
Really looking forward to the English Wheel and Steam Punk look! Brill...
I have no doubt you’ll be a natural at the English wheel.
Thank you for your faith David, time will tell!
I always enjoy (and learn from) your 'faffing about' videos! Lookin forward to that English Wheel.....ride safe you two!
Thanks Allen, hope you're keeping well there!
Thanks for the video
HI you had a lot of slack to attach the push pull at the grip......you didnt have it attached at the carb? i need to find some more slack somewhere lol thanks
Nice video Del and Penny. All ready for the fun to begin mate lol. Looking forward to the fab work with all the new toys.Hope you both have a relaxing weekend. Cheers P.S you can keep the bloody rain.
Hey buddy.. Looks like we kept the rain, but not much today, just a little at lunch time, soon dried out. Hope you had a great weekend too, keep in touch and rude safe,, D&Px
Well I'm ordering a new tube and cables now ha
Looking forward to the next one Del✌️
Oooohhhhhh the smell of burning rubber in the morning mmmmmmm!!! Just rebuilt my master brake cylinder today and can't belive how easy it was, thanks for that vid Del and did Penny know you had her hair dryer??
Hi Del- looking mighty fine. I learned tons from your “faffing” lol. Can’t wait to see the American, err. English Wheel in action! Hope you both have a wonderful weekend! (The wife has her Bianchina in a car show today, so up early with coffee in hand as I write this.) 🏍👍🏍
Hi Gary, that sounds fun, we absolutely love a car show, have a great relaxing day and enjoy every minute!
Moonfleet41 thx, Del. It was hot as blazes but it was a good day all in all. 😎
Thank you so much Peter, thats very kind of you... and what a dream come true that would be.. Congrats on the '1st' post this time..lol!
@@munter10 Very kind words mate, much appreciated by us both, have a great weekend!
Sure thing mate, they're dead useful, you will reach for them every
other time you're in the garage, so for £30 or so, they're a worthy
investment!
Looking forward to seeing the English wheel, never used one so will be really interesting
Me too buddy, something I've only ever seen other people do... exciting times!
Good for you Del. 😉
Hi Del I was wondering if I should use thread lock on the bolts to hold my new ignition barrel into my motorcycle
Well I do, and when I took my old lock out, the factory bolts had threadlock on them also!
@@Moonfleet41Thanks for the help Del also what colour thread lock should I use?
@@thedemondgamer5096 Nothing fancy, i just used the regular blue stuff i had to hand.
@@Moonfleet41 cheers for the help Del also looking forward to the next Busa vid
Salut mon ami
Super boulot.on commence a voir la fin
C'est bien mon ami, merci d'avoir regardé!
Toutes tes vidéos sont super.
A tres bientôt pour la suite.....
Great video Del...whats that red grease your using there on the pipe connection?
Old video, I imagine it was red rubber lube by the description.
Great job Del, now that stuffs out of the way you can concentrate your skills on the fun job of fabrication!!
another great video dude
The one iv been waiting for next the best bit can't wait
'I have invented a time machine' Well actually the throttles stuck open on my Hayabusa. I'm now in the year 2045. 🤣🤣🤣
Great video del, just a thought was there a pipe clip at the petrol tap end ?
Looking forward to the creative stuff...
Regards
How much disassembly is required to replace the throttle cables on a 1997 GSF1200 since the carb end of the cables are buried in between the carbs ?
As you may have seen with my carb strip video (on my Triumph Legend posted online last week), I just pulled the carbs out, which didn't take too long and was able to replace the cable dead easy, so it's a trade off of time, take an extra 1/2hr to disconnect the fuel line and pull the carbs out, or spend 2hrs fiddling around in a dark tiny space trying to connect the new cable end... sometimes it's easier to just strip things and get at the job!
@@Moonfleet41 Thank you. That's what I was thinking as well. I wish they were on the outside like your Hayabusa project :)
Bang tidy, Del 😊👍
Sure thing Keith, always good to make a tidy, clean install aye?!
Good lord, man, with these tools you named you could start whole armour workshop!
ARMOUR... now you're talking!
