IMO there are only about 250K AEW diehards. AEW is laser focused on the kind of wrestling that their diehards like. No story, constant movement and blood. Tony would probably risk losing his base if he tried to appeal to the general public.

Although I understand why they may want Punk Vs Rollins at Rumble, I think it should be at Mania, both wrestlers haven't headlined a main event at Mania and both are very deserving of it, but hopefully while they are both in the company they will main event a Mania at some point, Rollins will 100% main event next year's Mania, but Punk has signed a 3 year deal so hopefully he gets to as well.

I do believe this will be different from Punk's experience in AEW. HHH Is acutely aware of what happened and I'm sure the two had a pretty straight forward conversation about it to make sure they were on the same page and what will and will not be tolerated.

I can relate Punk's situation with that of Braun Strowman. both guys were salty and badmouthed the company in their respective promotions, but still returned cuz this is where they belonged and the main gripe was against Vince anyways! personally, as a fan growing up during the Summer of Punk in ‘12, i’m really happy about Punk’s return to WWE and excited to see what Triple H has in store for him. as far AEW goes, there problem stems from them (Tony) trying too hard to be a “WWE 2.0”. TK seems like a great guy, but he’s way out of touch with what AEW should be: an alternative. back in 2019-2021 (AEW’s peak), they really couldn’t mess things up, especially with WWE being at an decade low. but now that WWE has single handedly made wrestling in the US relevant again for the first time in a good decade, AEW feels the need to try to match that, which is hurting the overall product. the ex-WWE guys they have backstage are pushing for the product to be more like WWE which isn’t good for them because it alienates the fans who liked it for what it was: an alternative they just need to accept that the average WWE fan is not going to take time learning all the new talent from AEW and all of there partner brands (New Japan, TNA, etc.), nor should they be expected to. if AEW can accept “2nd place” and stick on doing what they were doing during their peak, they can easily be a viable company
The thing is, no matter how big the other ppvs are, Wrestlemania is still THE Event, THE Mecca of wrestling. The grand finale of the season. So no matter how much it makes sense for Punk vs Rollins at the Rumble, the Rumble feels more like the first pitstop to Wrestlemania and a match the level of Punk vs Rollins (something that has been clamored by fans for years) should only happen in the show of shows. Of all the potential matches you've mentioned, Punk vs Rollins is thematically, the most potent in terms of story, history and their respetive careers. It's like Edge vs Rollins or Michaels vs Bret or even Cena vs Batista.
I do agree it's good that he's not shitting on AEW and just continuing with his WWE return. I do think he does need to mend some bridges (AJ Styles comment to me is still the time I lost a ton of respect for the dude) but I always come back to the idea that Orton said "He gets motivated when he's pissed off". This to me is simply where he has another chance to overcome. That said, no don't put the title on him, even if he is healthy to defend it, this isn't a story.

WWE can handle talent drama and tantrums. They're all about business. AEW on the other hand still leagues apart. And CM Punk was a WWE guy they'll work it out coz WWE as a whole from talent to staff are professionals even in Vince's time. one of the matches i wanna see personally, is CM Punk vs Kevin Owens, from the promos, to the real life heat that KO had with Punk, to his lack of enthusiasm that hes back, it is truly a gold mine waiting to be seen.
I think that's the sad part with CM Punk, the loud vocal minority of some of his "fans" don't like him for his promo mic ability, his character or his in-ring prowess.

I hope they do something big for royal rumble. I kinda wished punk returned there, because that would mean he could have won the royal rumble instead of being eliminated then 10 years earlier and never coming back. He could go on to face seth rollins at wrestlemania 40. But facing seth at royal rumble also isn't that bad because they faced each other as number 1 and 2 in 2014's royal rumble.

personally, as a fan growing up during the Summer of Punk in ‘12, i’m really happy about Punk’s return to WWE and excited to see what Triple H has in store for him. as far AEW goes, there problem stems from them (Tony) trying too hard to be a “WWE 2.0”. TK seems like a great guy, but he’s way out of touch with what AEW should be: an alternative.
back in 2019-2021 (AEW’s peak), they really couldn’t mess things up, especially with WWE being at an decade low. but now that WWE has single handedly made wrestling in the US relevant again for the first time in a good decade, AEW feels the need to try to match that, which is hurting the overall product. the ex-WWE guys they have backstage are pushing for the product to be more like WWE which isn’t good for them because it alienates the fans who liked it for what it was: an alternative
they just need to accept that the average WWE fan is not going to take time learning all the new talent from AEW and all of there partner brands (New Japan, TNA, etc.), nor should they be expected to. if AEW can accept “2nd place” and stick on doing what they were doing during their peak, they can easily be a viable company
The thing is, no matter how big the other ppvs are, Wrestlemania is still THE Event, THE Mecca of wrestling. The grand finale of the season. So no matter how much it makes sense for Punk vs Rollins at the Rumble, the Rumble feels more like the first pitstop to Wrestlemania and a match the level of Punk vs Rollins (something that has been clamored by fans for years) should only happen in the show of shows.
Of all the potential matches you've mentioned, Punk vs Rollins is thematically, the most potent in terms of story, history and their respetive careers. It's like Edge vs Rollins or Michaels vs Bret or even Cena vs Batista.
I do agree it's good that he's not shitting on AEW and just continuing with his WWE return. I do think he does need to mend some bridges (AJ Styles comment to me is still the time I lost a ton of respect for the dude) but I always come back to the idea that Orton said "He gets motivated when he's pissed off". This to me is simply where he has another chance to overcome. That said, no don't put the title on him, even if he is healthy to defend it, this isn't a story.

WWE can handle talent drama and tantrums. They're all about business. AEW on the other hand still leagues apart. And CM Punk was a WWE guy they'll work it out coz WWE as a whole from talent to staff are professionals even in Vince's time.
You can see and hear WWE guys that arrived in AEW noticed the huge difference or downgrade in quality, profesionalism and leadership other than the money.
They abviously missed WWE. That's why Kevin Owens was smart not leaving a few years back when his contract was up.
