CM Punk is possibly the greatest promo guy ever. So good on the mike. And he’s so smart and articulate. I’m not a massive fan of his straight edge stuff but you can’t deny the talent.
"not a fan of his straight edge stuff" do you mean his early career gimmick? Or his real life philosophy? Because it's kinda weird if it's the latter: "I don't like that this guy doesn't drink or do drugs".
@@Aditya-sn4sr Some straight edge people can be perceived as obnoxious because they call out people that drink or smoke. Some even do that and then secretly drink and smoke themselves, which is hypocritical. Also, some people simply gets annoyed by the culture. Straight edge isn't just identified by not drinking and not doing drugs, otherwise muslims would be considered straight edge, too. There's also a lot of ostentation about it, with showy tattoos and the music and style. People can choose not to drink nor do drugs without judging others that do, and without going around sporting tattoos shouting their lifestyle choices. That can be perceived as a fad-like niche culture like punk, dark, hipster, etc., and some people just dislike the idea of adhering to a fad because they perceive it as mob mentality, lack of individuality. These days the superkick has been jobbed out to the point of being pointless - chalk it up to all the wrestlers who were kids watching HBK use it, now they all aped it for their repertoire. Kinda sucks because none of them do it as well as HBK... it's kinda like KO's stunner; it looks like crap but they think they can get a pop out of it, so they use it.
I stopped watching wrestling when I was about 10. One day when I was about 30 I catched a glimpse of CM, and caught my attention. His realness, his talent at the mic, his straight edge/hardcore persona, etc., made an impression and I started watching. It was like a tough guy off the streets decided to wrestle. He also blended realism and illusion so well. The last of the greats.
He must not like Cena, because he also mentioned that he wouldn't whisper when they were improvising, that he would talk loud enough for the people in the cheap seats to hear him, which seems extremely unprofessional. Imagine the 7 year old kid who idolizes Cena and thinks it's all real, and his dream comes true and he gets front row seats to Raw. And then he hears Cena being an idiot, and calling out the moves they're gonna do.

@@Icanonlycountto4 no the wrestlers refer to themselves backstage as "the boys" but I'm not knowledgable enough to know what that has to do with health care
@@MMDAQ What he's saying is, when people talk about "the boys'" backstage, they think of people having each other's back, watching out for each other, taking care of one another etc. In this context when he says there's no such thing as the boys, he means, there's no one there paying your hospital bills, paying your rent since you can't wrestle anymore, picking you up off the ground when your back locks up after getting out of bed. At the end of your career, you're the only one you can depend on so protect your health during your career since your friends won't always be there

CM Punk is possibly the greatest promo guy ever. So good on the mike. And he’s so smart and articulate. I’m not a massive fan of his straight edge stuff but you can’t deny the talent.
Straightedge is a great hook. There's not a lot of people who don't do any smoking, drinking or drugs ever (I'm one of them, though).
I personally don't have any particular opinion about them, but I can see someone disliking them for this or that reason.
That said, he was probably referring to his straight edge GIMMICK.
If you like him so much why don't you marry him?
