I find it scary how you can be the most skilled, experienced, law-abiding driver in the world and you can still be offed by a couple of clout chasing NPCs who think they’re in GTA.
I find it scary how you can be the most sober saying law, abiding citizen, and still be the worst driver on the road worse than the meth tweakers and nodding out heroin, addicts and drunk drivers. That’s what scares me,. What scares me is the completely uncoordinated, dead sober nerd.
They won’t go to jail from this video alone. By the time police do anything for about this the “alcohol” will be out of their system. They can just claim it was water in the bottle and that it was a prank. The only way they get arrested is if they do this again and get caught in the act. Hopefully they don’t do this again….
In Poland there was recently changed a law, now instead of just punishing you for driving drunk, they take away your car too, and if you borrowed it, you have to pay a full price of what it's worth This should be a law for other countries too.
Tbh, Poland is one of the strictest countries when it comes fo drunk driving. A very low limit, a lot of random checks and now the confiscation law. Which makes the fact that Poland holds the dubious record for the highest ever recorded BAC even more amazing. A Polish man got into an accident whole driving with a BAC of 1.48%. Which is about 4 times higher than what would be lethal for ordinary humans.
Locally, we have a man who was driving drunk and hit a 10 year old girl driving her bicycle. From what I understand, she was thrown into the ditch and the bike got caught on his car and he dragged it for over a kilometre. She passed away (horrifically, it likely was not instant), and he just drove home. When he was initially questioned, he tried saying it was his girlfriend that was driving and they hit a deer. His story then changed to he was driving, and again, he “thought he hit a deer” (remember, he drug the bike under his car for over a kilometre). He also reported being sober when drinking, but as he went home immediately after, he said he ‘drank a few beer’ upon getting home to ‘relax’, so when he was questioned after by police, he had an explanation for his high BAC. His family is wealthy with good connections and he is presently a free man. He was found not guilty two years ago and after the provincial court of appeal overturned that, recently underwent a new trial with decisions set to be released May 17th of this year. The driver is Colin Tweedie, feel free to look up the details because this is one of the most infuriating cases I’ve heard of.
@@moshunit96 just read a few other articles for terminology. He was found not guilty two years ago without a jury (I believe), but the provincial Court of Appeal overturned that decision and ordered a new trial which is what’s ongoing now! Editing to change the wording, thank you!
My aunt and two of her friends were killed by a drunk driver at 16 years old on thanksgiving, before I was even born. Her grief looms over my family and I constantly wish I couldve met her
Same happened with my uncle, he was just going home from a party but got hit, my mom never even got to say goodbye before he went to the party, i will always hate drunk drivers for all the people that have lost their life because of them
Crazy thing is most of them don't care or supports them stealing and stuff. I studied for 2 years in Ireland. Over there parents dont get punished for their kid, then kid dont get punished cuz of young age. I saw parents defending their kid that killed and raped someone
I had a cousin like this. Their side of the family was super rich and would bail him any time he got in trouble. Speeding (including in school zones), drunk driving and other DUIs, reckless driving, distracted driving, etc. Literally just imagine the most annoying and irresponsible person you've ever seen on the road. They would laugh and joke about all the crimes he's committed as if it were just like "oh you. you're so goofy!! classic ben!", even when talking about crimes that endangered human lives. After he did get a criminal record (hit someone with his car) and might have actually had some repercussions for his actions, they just hired him in their own business because nepotism is great.
Working in an ER, sadly, what you see is the kids and people who actually contribute to society (teachers, healthcare workers, hardworking people) are the ones who get killed. The drunk drivers live more times than not and that is honestly the most heartbreaking part of it.
@@joinsidekeyeah, alcohol loosens you up so that when the crash happens, your muscles don’t tense up the way they normally would when bracing for impact. This lessens the effects across the board. Kind of like dropping something made of rubber versus dropping glass; the more give something has, the more it can withstand impact.
My dad was an ER nurse for about 15 years and a EMT for 30 years, and the things he saw....well I could NEVER do that kind of job. Thank you for doing such a difficult and demanding job. You are appreciated.

@@JK-bb2hmdont know if its true or not but the reason the odds are in their favour (drunk drivers) is that theyre relaxed during the crash which causes their body to cushion some of the force going through them, while sober drivers are tense and get injured because of it
I was in a car crash when I was 10 (I'm 32 now) and had to be the only *physically* unharmed person in my family of 4 and our family dog. In order from least to most *physically* injured it goes my dad who just got knocked out and a small cut in his nose, he was driving. My sister had a window explode into her side (she was only 13 at the time), had a seat belt burn across her stomach and body, whiplash, and was knocked unconscious. My mom had her right knee shattered, her back broken in 4 places, her right arm/wrist shattered, including her pinky being nearly sheered off and only a string of skin keeping it hanging on. Her skull skin on the right side was peeled back to nearly the back of her head and her skull was broken open enough to see part of her brain. She had a shattered kidney (yes, I meant shattered, that's the term they used) and a whole litany of other internal injuries. She survived this (a true miracle and I'm not even religious, but it's truly miraculous. Truly, they even saved her pinky. It just doesn't work like a finger anymore). I was unharmed *PHYSICALLY* and didn't even get knocked out but witnessed this all at the age of 10. And of course, our family dog died. This was at 10AM on Easter morning as we drove to our family friend's place to celebrate the holiday and do an egg hunt. I have suffered from intense mental health issues from this since, including schizophrenia, DID, depression, CPTSD, anxiety, OCD, and suicidal thoughts. The man who hit us (he was ejected from his vehicle as he had no seat belt and was physically unharmed aside from cuts cause he landed in some black berry bushes) when they pulled him from the bushes, had a blood alcohol level of .34. WHEN THEY TESTED HIM OVER AN HOUR LATER. He was also on so much coke that he was physically able to be moving around and behind a wheel at all. On Easter morning. At 10 AM. Drunk drivers, people like the people in this video, and people who drive under the influence so severely... They deserve to just flip their car and finish with all their living. If that upsets you, tell that to the kid who watched her mom's head get cracked open, her brain exposed to the air. Her heart stopped on the road and they were only able to get it started again in the helicopter ride to the hospital. I didn't know this until much later. Tell that to the 10 year old, THE FOURTH GRADER, who has suffered for a majority of her life cause of some horrible selfish evil piece of shit who cared so little for others he nearly killed an entire family of 4 and their dog. And it's a miracle only our dog died. Remember that shite, I hope it's burned into your brain so you never fuckin think about going behind the wheel drunk, and definitely don't sit here defending it.
@@SkepticalJedi Thank you for your kind words of support. It's been 22 years and I'm much better mentally, despite the journey to getting here being crazy at times. My mom still feels pain everyday but is know as Saint Amy by everyone who knows her, and has returned to full mental functioning. My dad became a physically abusive alcoholic who drinks and drives constantly. I had to cut ties with him unfortunately. My sister is now a mother with 3 kids and more on the way so, we're all in different spots but doing better than what that crash left us in. I didn't mention this but the dog who died did so taking a piece of debris that would've punctured my mom's heart. He died saving her life essentially. There's a ton of things that happened that day that I can't explain so... Yeah, it's definitely a miracle and I am grateful for everyday I wake up housed, fed, with my loving boyfriend, and our beautiful fur babies.
Wow, that's horrible. For everyone involved. I can't help but think maybe you would've been better off getting knocked unconscious & sustaining injuries over the mental trauma. That aside, I hope you all can better come to terms with what happened & continue healing through it all.

My brother was killed in a drunk driving accident when I was 15. He was 10 years older than me and was someone I looked up to a lot. He was riding back from work on his motorcycle and was run off the road into a tree by a drunk driver speeding and changing lanes without looking. I never got to see his body but I was told his heart instantly stopped from the collision with the tree. The cops found the guy who ran him off the road a couple years later and charged him with negligent driving and man slaughter since they couldn’t prove he was drunk. He got 58 months in federal prison. That’s under 5 years. For killing my brother from driving drunk. People like this make me sick and angry
I'm so sorry. I don't know If I could have your strength. I would be horribly tempted to invoke my own vengeance on somebody who did that and was able to go back to life like everything was normal 5 years later. What an injustice Keep doing you and being strong.
i have a friend who is a mother of a 7 year old, this friend is now tragically heavily brain damaged due to being stuck in a coma because her own cousin got behind the wheel drunk and crashed and rolled with both of them inside, she's lucky to still be here today the doctors didn't think she would be able to function normally ever again but she has made such huge strides, drink driving only ever leads to tragedy.
I lost my big sister to a drunk driver almost a year ago. These guys do not understand how dangerous this can be to someone’s life and how many people’s life’s they can hurt.
my dad died a few months ago to an 18 wheeler. killed immediately on impact. im told he was "unrecognizable" after the crash. after that, it really opened my eyes to just how many horrible drivers are on the road. my boyfriend also rides a motorcycle and i occasionally backpack him from time to time. wouldn't believe just how many people drive drunk or play on their phones.
I had a friend back in high school that was orphaned because both of her parents were killed by drunk drivers on separate occasions less than a year apart from each other. I already hated drunk drivers before I met her, hated them more after I met her.
They recently brought in a set of laws here in some Aussieland states that I reckon should get imported elsewhere -- they're called 'Post & Boast' laws. Essentially, if you break the law and then post it on social media showing off (specifically vehicle and break-&-enter style crimes), they can come down on you even harder than normal. It's a first-step effort to crack down on exactly this kind of public menace/public nuisance 'influencers'.
You shouldn’t even need a law if you’re dumb enough to post video/photos of yourself committing a crime it should be admissible as evidence it’s basically anything you say or do can be used against you in a court of law taken to the max. You’re basically doing the prosecutors job for them

Cars are a BIG money maker for governments . They add all kinds of new toys and big screens that take drivers eyes off the road and people use their phones to text . The more toys the more tax revenue . Ontario is raising the speed limits from100k to 110k and that will help the stoners and drunks react faster ? And vehicles will burn more gas which bring in more carbon taxes for governments . Do you really think the governments care about lives lost on our roads ? NOT !
My close friend and roommate passed away on June 25th, 2021 at the age of 19 because of a drunk driver. He has missed out on a full life because of a stupid kid who couldn’t take accountability of his current condition and refrain from driving. I hope that anyone reading this knows that it is never worth it to drive drunk even if you feel like you need to. That decision can lead to a life being taken from this Earth prematurely whether it be you or someone else. I once was driving down to Florida, back in 2019, when I was stopped in front of a huge, horrifying wreck. A drunk semi-truck driver had collided through the divider on the road, and collided with a van full of people from a churchgroup, on their way to Disneyworld. Five kids, two adults, just gone. It was a horrible tragedy. I was checking on more information on what had happened for the next few days, when I had saw the headline, though this time, it was in Michigan. This family was on their way BACK from Disney. Family of five. On their way back. Drunk semi-truck driver in the opposite lane, going through the divider. All gone. I still think about it sometimes. And the part that sticks with me, is thinking, "well, they probably had heard about the first accident, I'd think. And they must have been thinking 'Thank god, that wasn't us.' "
I went to kindergarten with Emily Watts, who was only 17 and had just driven a friend home when she was rear ended by a drunk driver as she was pulling into her own driveway. Her car burst into flames and her family witnessed it but couldn't do anything to help her. She would have been 31 or 32 now. The driver was sentenced to only four years, but if I remember correctly she was released early. It devastated our entire community and there are still billboards up in rememberance of Emily. Drunk drivers are scum to me.
God, I'm seeing so many comments about how they lost a loved one to a drunk driver and the driver only gets like five years. It's ridiculous, we need to be taking a harder stance on this shit. Like sure, "they didn't mean to kill anyone" but they did mean to get drunk, they knew they can't drive drunk, so they should have planned for that. You take a life, you should at least get fifteen years, and you should never be allowed to drive again.
My sister in law had just given birth to my nephew, he had just gotten out of the NICU. A drunk teenager hit her head on, luckily she did not have either of her 2 kids with her, but the teenager caused a broken collar bone, broken ribs, broken wrist, plus more. She was lucky to still be alive, but the teenager's parents were more worried about how it would affect his future. We were worried about the fact that my preemie nephew couldn't be held or fed by his mother for months.

I would never in my right mind have ever had a drink at the wheel for any reason, I got drunk at home, as usual, and woke up in a jail cell. I cannot put into words how disgusting I felt. I became afraid to drink again, until the withdrawal set in. It was hell. I owe my life to recovery, and a lot of people out there are deserving of an opportunity to better themselves. People who decide it's a good idea, completely sober, to drink and drive, might actually be incurable. They should be studied by psychologists. The initial remorselessness is sickening. I'll never let myself forget that I could have killed a family, my own family lives nearby and I endangered all of them, and I will spend the rest of my life atoning for that. I don't think they have the emotional capacity to truly regret this day. They'll only be mad that they got caught.
@@Eargesplitten-Loudenboomer people like you really aren't helpful for people that genuinely want to recover. (If you act like that in real life at least)
How does one get drunk at home then wake up in a jail cell? Or are you drinking then going out? Like wtf are you doing at home drunk to get the cops to arrest you😂
It's fine then just make sure they get charged for the cost of the cops, arrests and court fees. No jail time but make them pay for the time of all the officials they wasted. That would teach them as well.
I genuinely believe we can bring down drunk driving rates by having safe and convenient public transport to and from party spots. But for cases like these, the only option is restricting their movement. Jail, taking their car away, house arrest, whatever it takes, they should not be in control of a car ever again.
We have Uber, taxi's, and designated drivers. This isn't a issue of spending more tax payer money. This is personal responsibility and poor decisions. I've been to plenty of parties and never drove drunk. If you can't make responsible choices then no amount of money can save you from yourself.
@@o0oGhsto0o My main concern is reducing unnecessary road accidents. Your main concern seems to be money and placing blame. We'll never see eye to eye, because our opinion of what matters differs too much.
@@18booma my main concern isn't money. My point is money will never solve the problem. This is a responsibility issue. My dad was a drunk for 30 years. Me, my brothers, my gram, and my uncle have always told him we would gladly pick him up anytime day or night if he was drunk and needed a ride. He never once took a free ride. His thought process was always "I'm not that drunk I can drive just fine". This is why I say to you no amount of money will ever solve the problem. I have friends who make the same choice my dad did. All my friends know they can call me at 4am and I will come get them if they are drunk and thinking about driving. When we were younger they would just drive drunk. My conclusion isn't financially based it's drawn from life experience.
As an up-and-coming driver, I agree SO much. The amount of times I've encountered terrible drivers drinking, on their phones, among other things digusts me.
I just finished getting the requirements for my road test. And learnt of all the consequences of drunk driving. It's terrifying and dangerous, it just doesn't make sense as to why people do this. I can strongly agree with you on those last comments too; it's just disgusting.
If you know you're going to drink you need to plan ahead. No DD? Drink at home. Out somewhere drinking? Call an Uber. Call a friend. Hell call your parents. I called my mom once when when I was messed up and she was just happy I called her instead of going anywhere. Swear there's no excuse but pure selfishness to drink and drive
I genuinely wish we would up the penalty for DUI by a lot. There are so many options to get you home safely if you’re drunk, there’s really no excuse to drink and drive besides being a fucking moron
@@leopereira4718fr... apparently people can get away with losing their license for drunk driving then get away with secretly still driving for years afterwards.
If memory serves me correct, drunk/high drivers are also statistically much more likely to survive crashes because it acts as a muscle relaxant so the force of the impact doesnt jarr them as bad.

I have a story not about drunk driving but driving while high. My aunt…literally the most beautiful person I’ve ever met irl, looooong wavy blonde hair and blue eyes, tall, statuesque and regal and beautiful inside too…was driving with her 2yo daughter. Three teen boys all high on weed went thru a red light and plowed headfirst into her minivan. She died instantly at 32yo. Her 2yo daughter also died on the scene. But EMT’s were able to bring the baby back, although she now has developmental issues. Three children under 14 lost their mom that day. And the poor baby will never be 100%. We all know not to drink and drive. But don’t drive high either! ESP as a teen or new driver. Weed affects a teen brain MUCH more severely that you think.

In Poland there was recently changed a law, now instead of just punishing you for driving drunk, they take away your car too, and if you borrowed it, you have to pay a full price of what it's worth
This should be a law for other countries too.
Eastern Europe laws are very strict about such things. Gun laws too

"Committing felonies for pocket money, wbu Sharon?"

I heard the alcohol in their system makes their body less tense or something? Which makes them more likely to survive a crash.
@@joinsidekeyeah, alcohol loosens you up so that when the crash happens, your muscles don’t tense up the way they normally would when bracing for impact. This lessens the effects across the board.

It's been 22 years and I'm much better mentally, despite the journey to getting here being crazy at times.
2:53 began at East I-280 at mile marker 13.2
4:15 began at East I-280 at mile marker 13.6
With the video running at 30 frames per second, there were 50+/-2 frames from the moment they passed under S 13th street to the time they passed under S 12th street.
Using google maps and its GPS coordinates, the distance between the two overpasses is 270+/-15 feet.
Changing the speed from frames/s to feet/s gets 1.67+/-0.11 seconds
270 feet divided by 1.67 seconds gets 161.67 feet per second, or 110.23+/-1 mph.

When I saw the video title I thought he was about to talk about a controversial issue. Then he immediately said “there’s few things on this planet that make me more mad than drunk drivers,” and I immediately agreed 100%.
