I bought this saddle last week after my Brooks 17 snapped at the rails. I’ve just one ride with my Selle but right away its more comfortable than my Brooks for my first 5 hundred miles. TY for your great report…if I hadn’t just bought it I would now❤
Thanks for the intro to a new saddle, Brad. The Selle looks like a great new addition to the saddle universe. Like you, I have the carved-out version of the B17. But I am pushing the limit with it because of the rail length. As you point out, the Selle with it's longer rails, may be a better choice if needed in the future.
@@BradBeaird I'm pretty sure I'd wreck that thing under my 340-lb. heft. Only the beefiest of metal rails can withstand eventual fatigue and failure, even on short saddles. So for rails *that* long?? I'd be worried.
Notice the rails were shorter on my Brooks than my stock saddle. Still micro adjusting fore and aft. If I run out of rail I can go to an offset seat post instead. Brooks is new!!!
Looks a nice saddle! The only reservation I would have is with the slot in the leather going right up to the nose. Seems there is a possible weak point with there being much less leather rivetted onto the nose than with the B17. If longevity proves not to be a problem then it certainly looks to be a good alternative to the Brooks, having a shorter break-in period. Keep us updated! 👍
Certainly will let you know how the long term wear works out. I've got probably about 700 miles on it so far and it definitely has more of a hammock feel to it. Time will tell ;)
As a former Racing Bike rider there is a reason why Pro Riders use stone hard saddles for long rides. I would like to try one on my Brompton though? Finn. Denmark
No, I had their last “No stretch model, the “X”-which was touted in much the same fashion as the H1, and marketed to “Big guys.” It was comfy while it lasted. If it doesn’t work out, consider the Brooks C19 All Weather Carved. It’s wider than the usual C17, and specifically designed for people who ride in an upright position.
@@kennyness8881 Yeah my buddy jerry had the X and had the same issue. Perhaps they have adjusted their marketing content and are saying the X is for up to 190lbs an the H1 up to 250lbs. Only time will tell but I'll sure be testing and reporting on it ;)
The H1 might be better then the H2. The rear aluminum bracket broke twice and now my stainless steel rail broke. I thought that by buying the H series, it would be stronger, but their frames are the same, for all the weights. The H2 took a very long time to brake in, but it was comfortable after about 2400-3000 miles. I was disappointed by the rough bottom edge and they want $30 extra to bevel the edges, which is something included on all Brooks saddles. It would cost $78 to buy the parts and fix it, but I know it will just brake again. Another thing I bought their rain cover and it was not a water proof material. Selle has some good concepts but the engineering is not there. I think the Brooks is better and felt good out of the box.
So the rack on back is Bontrager Backrack Deluxe which I covered with Kydex (video here: ua-cam.com/video/U4JfmEm_O10/v-deo.html ) and the bag is custom made by my wife actually. The one you see is our test model made from Sunbrella, but we now have some xpack material and will be making the next version out of xpack.
@@BradBeaird Too funny! I just finished watching your Kydex video two seconds ago. VERY cool idea. I had the same idea for the space behind my surly Wednesday but the plastic i used was too flimsy. I have to look up the Kydex stuff. I'll use your link. Thanks so much.
Your subscriber from the Basque Country here. I wanted to ask you if you have had noticeable amount of pedal strikes with the ECR. Thanks for this great channel
It's not hard to punch lacing points in a saddle huh?!.. I noticed that flaring too and was considering lacing but then just got hold of each side and 'bent' those lower edges in a bit.. haven't had a problem since.. most comfortable saddle I've owned
I just purchased a Selle Anatomica and love it...for the most part. From the very first ride, the front rattled whenever I stood up. I was told to tighten the tension so I did. Still no luck. Anyone have a similar experience?
I just got an H2 not too long ago. I haven't put anywhere near 300 miles on it. Just a couple of 40 mile rides. How did you get the tilt dialed in on yours? Did you start at the recommended 1/4"-1/8" nose up tilt and adjusted from there? Did you find you had to increase the nose up more or tilt it more nose down.
@@BradBeaird thanks for fast answer! is it tool color in x2? selleanatomica.com/products/x2?variant=31481326600294 i am wondering does it simiar to brooks honey color
@@BradBeaird thanks that’s great! I have an X2 on order I was just concerned about the sagging that I have read about, I take it you haven’t had that issue?
Just wanted to put this here, because I had a horrible experience with company. I received a saddle with horrible build quality, defective rails and significantly torn upper leather straight out of the box. Selle would not help me at all. They have ignored emails and calls, and it is a shitty way for a company to act (I spent $180 on an H2). Know that Selle Anatomica will NOT help you out if anything goes wrong for you as a customer.

I love mine. I never wear bike shorts either and it's the most comfortable saddle I've used.
I’m happy with mine so far as well.

Yep an offset seat post can get you some additional adjustment. That all works great until you decide you want a Cane Creek Thudbuster ST :D
I have the same saddle in black. Only 160 kms on it to date but it’s feeing great so far.
Awesome. I put another 214 miles on mine this week and loving it!
I rode a Trek I think it was a Dualsport3 had a H1 saddle probably a Bontrager I remember it because it was really comfortable for me
