I tried a brooks saddle years ago with the cut out and adjustable tensioner and just couldn’t get on with it. I been using Prologo saddles since and they’ve been great.
I have a Brooks B17S on my hardtail mountain bike. While it isn't the most comfortable it is a damn gorgeous saddle. To be honest it doesn't make much sense to have a Brooks saddle on a mountain bike that I mostly stand up on but along with wanting a Brooks saddle forever I got mine for only $70 on ebay in slightly used condition and it matches my tan/bronze color scheme of my bike perfectly. I decided to go with the B17S instead of the regular B17 because I wanted a smaller but wider saddle for my wider sit bones (the B17S is wider since it supposed to be intended for women).
I think on any bike a saddle is important.. I mountain bike a lot (used to) and standing is a very small amount of the ride.. Thanks for your thoughts..
You only have to cycle around 200 miles to break it in. Any rider worth their salt would have this done in no time. I got one recently and found it super comfy even before it broke it.
I had a Brooks for many years & did LEJOG on one ,The problem I found is that they are constantly changing shape & even though comfortable mine caused me a prostate problem & I required an operation ,I now use Selle SMP & Specialized mirror .
My understanding is they change shape if you wax them often. They should really be waxed rarely. So far no change. I've used Selle Italia a lot they are also a nice saddle.
@@Steve-Owens well i saw accident a man with rucksack with suspension seatpost i saw it broke while he was riding the post snapped lucky he wasnt impailed in backside very lucky
Like you , i use a b67 and wondering if there is any creeking coming from the springs of the bew saddle
Not really, they are pretty silent.
Nice saddles
Glad you like them!
Right now I'm using thr c17 on my Brompton and planning to change it to b17
Thanks Steve and Michele. Still using my old Avocet saddle, but hope to upgrade to a Brooks one day. Happy cycling!
Thanks William I'll report on it over time
The Brooks B66/67/68/72/73/135 all use the same saddle shell with various spring arrangements.

@@jamesmcguckin6288 We're loving ours so far, 2.5 months into the ride..
Wise choice, I agree fully! Your riding position is more upright.
I got a B17, it was comfortable right from the start. I was surprised as I’d always thought you had to “bed” them in.
Our was too.
A nice and comfortable seat for your bike is a good thing. Cheers, Steve and Michelle! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
Cheers buddy..

I hadn't heard of it, good luck
i sold my brooks saddle ages ago, they are like sitting on a baseball bat. and i do not have enough time to tour to break the saddle in.
LOL.. Interesting, I don't find that.

suspension seatpost not good idea if you have rucsack
We did Rucksacks in Taiwan and we found them uncomfortable for long haul rides. Best for us to get everything off of our backs I think Jasper.. Cheers

Send that B17 to me 🙏🏼
🤔 😂
You could have kept the original saddle and gone with a suspension seat post.
We could have but the Saddle we changed to is, in our opinion much more comfortable.. It was our preference.. and from the ride, a great choice.
i been walking 3 hours 9 kilometres i took my bike to be fixed walked back
First minute was you asking why you would change it out…
Thanks
Thank you for showing your backside to us. Just what I needed when I was watching your video in a public place. 😐
Bummer 🤣
