I’m not a Sharks fan, but what a champion Dale has been. It would’ve been a heartbreaking decision to make to hang up the boots, undoubtedly much earlier than he would’ve liked but in the interests of his long term health, it was the RIGHT decision, not just for Dale, but also that of his family & loved ones. Farewell Dale… Congratulations on your career champ & all the best for the future ✊😁

@@ianward71 … He would’ve been right at home had he played back in the 80’s & 90’s with guys like Les Davidson, Mark Carroll, David Gillespie, Steve Roach, Paul Sironen, David Boyle, Ray Price… To name just a few. There were plenty of other players who played their guts out like Dale did every time… That’s why he has my absolute respect 🫡

Wtf is Kenty talking about? Concussions happened in every era. Players just ignored it and played on back in the day. The NRL are taking it seriously now, that’s why it seems like we have more concussions in today’s game

Lawyers got strays too, but it's the _players_ that are seeking legal help. Did Kent employ lawyers in his most recent legal dispute? 👀

Yes, they did. However, the players are much bigger/heavier and more powerful now. They can inflict more severe damage.

I think after 3 or 4 concussions, the matter should be taken from the players hands. Of course they'll choose to play on because of the money aspect.
And because of any sign of impairment, any decision a player makes may not be a clear one. And the club as a duty of care towards the players welfare.

Even if you improve tackling techniques shoulder under the ball and head out ofbthe way, there's is no guarantee that the ball runner changes direction and the tackling players head is now in the way.

What a wise man. He’s thinking of his family .
These guys that are carrying on had better be sure that their partners and wives are not it for better or worse.
Because it’s them that end up looking after them when they are getting early on set dementia.
The game needs to start taking charge of this.

Kids aren't taught the correct tackling technique and if they made it so that a player making a legs tackle has time to get into the marker position it would stop people tackling front on which results in alot of head contact

I wore headgear in the last few years I played due to concussions, all it did was give me a false sense of invincibility that resulted in more concussions than I had when not wearing it so I ditched it..
The only benefit was I didn’t get split open when I wore it..

In this video alone he mentioned how a NFL player retired due to concussion. Last time I checked the NFL helmet looked alot more durable than the thin sponge headgear in the NRL. All it takes is 5 minutes on google to show how a concussion actually occurs you buffoon.

Does rugby league as it is played right now have any chance of survival?".. The answer is of course "Zero chance"...
So what does 'Safe' rugby league look like?... The answer is to take note of where the brain is located in the human body and totally and completely retool tackling technique to avoid contact, or even close proximity to it like it was the plague... Torn ACL's, high ankle sprains, ruptured biceps etc,.. etc. can always be defended as being part of a gladiatorial sport. More importantly, the extent and recovery duration can be known in detail immediately after the injury is scanned... Not so for mashed potato brain matter injuries... it is truly a lottery as to who will have latter effects.. often many years after the player has retired... Kenty is so right... Get in front of and wipe out concussion rather than mitigate concussion as if it is a constant that must forever be accommodated... Forever cancelled due to law suits / class actions may turn out to be just 2 or 3 years away... In my perfect world the coaches and players are so concerned about the penalties I hand out for what is effectively foul or reckless play, that they eradicate all tackling that exposes the head and neck. Up to them to figure out how to do that. As for players who 'knock themselves out,. whilst tackling? That's going to happen, but again that's just another area for coaches to focus on.... And if the result is a rise in the number of tackle offloads, then so be it... I'm sure the coaches would quickly find ways to to counter...

I am still surprised at how much referees let players manhandle heads/faces on the park. The game could be a lot safer without losing the combative nature.
