Thank you Angeline Wong! This list you posted is very helpful. Now that I am able to see all seven (7) reasons, I have realized that I can check off most or all of the list. 1,2,3,4,6,7. Please have an excellent and awesome day! 🙂
Yeh... gonna need to have a filter through once in a while to delete some you're prob not gonna watch anymore since you like different things after 3 years.
I used to procrastinate a LOT when I was in middle school, but somehow, during my 6th grade year, I realized just how hard school was going to get, and that the procrastination path that my peers were taking is going to set me up for bad things. I was proven right when I got to high school, being far more organized than my peers and ending up with so much less work just because I organized and did things ahead of time. It wasn't that I didn't know HOW to have fun, it's just that I knew WHEN it was good to have fun, and when it was necessary to have a work day. :)
For those who wants straight answers: " Reason 1- There's fear of failure 0:28 Reason 2- You're the creative type and ideas can't be forced 0:59 Reason 3- Perfectionism 1:58 Reason 4- You're an evening person 2:36 Reason 5- You make great decisions 3:23 Reason 6- You struggle with self-doubt 3:57 Reason 7-You don't practice mindfulness 4:17
It became a habit...I get incredibly creative and a surge of focused energy when the deadline is upon me...however, my stress increases. So...i started doing smaller things ahead of time...relieved my stress and that still gives me time to edit closer to deadline in order to achieve the “perfection” I’m looking to achieve. This video absolutely spoke to me.
I relate to being an all-nighter. My partner is up at 0630. I get great things done after 2200, creatively, but he seems to tell me I'm lazy, slacking. He doesn't say it aloud to me. He just says it's lazy to not get stuff done by 0945.
Isn't that obvious? See videos about procrastination is procrastinating! (unless you're on your free time lol) But the best is that if someone starts annoying you to do work, you say you can't concentrate and it's a video of how to concentrate!
I got mindfulness but to the other side. Since its the “only now matters” way of thought then i think “then i should spend this ‘now’ in the way i want” and i dont wanna do my final project. And thus TADA!~ procrastination
1. Fear of failure 2. You’re the creative type and ideas just can’t be forced 3. Perfectionism 4. You’re an evening person 5. You make great decisions 6. You struggle with self-doubt 7. You don’t practice mindfulness
Believe it or not, I am not a procrastinator, not trying to show off or anything, but I really can't do anything at all, not even go to the bathroom, with something not done, there's always the voice in the back of my mind being like "assignment, assignment, assignment, assignment" and I just can't focus on anything until I do all my chores and schoolwork, and that's a pretty great thing actually, there are really no disadvantages to that, I am really thankful I am like that! Also, I agree with the "creative side" I love drawing and writing and I hate it when somebody is like "draw this tomorrow" or "write this story by Monday", it is not in my will to write a story anytime, creativity needs time and freedom, you can't just restrict it, the way I deal with that is start a loooooooooot sooner than the deadline, that way I have time and I don't feel restrictive and I can be as creative as possible!
Ever since this lousy pandemic I became more of a lazy procrastinator. I'm confident that I will overcome it soon but there's always obstacles that occur in my life. Patience works best for me.
I procrastinated refurbishing a Victorian loveseat that was over 100 years old for 3 years. I’ve never done such a thing and had no help. It was super daunting and the fabric I got for it was discontinued because the company went out of business. I was dead set on that fabric so I had to make it work. I eventually completed it and BARELY got the fabric to work. It turned out really good and I’m really proud of it. Definitely great for a first try! It isn’t perfect but it was doomed for the trash and managed to save it. Better late than never. I try not to repeat that level of procrastination, but it’s sometimes just out of laziness or trying to be a perfectionist. I’ll get really into it and time will fly by, but I barely got anything done when someone would have been finished with something like that hours ago. That’s always discouraging. My biggest procrastination? Getting a workout routine and being healthier. Lol
Haha even without my phone I still can't concentrate on sh*t :) My brain manages to escape the task at hand and dazes off into nothing for some reason, at any time of day
I read in a book on procrastination that one possible reason people do that is a lack of understanding of the task that needs completing. I very much identify with this along with the point of being able to focus better after 8 p.m.
What if procrastination gets so extreme that it's basically self sabotage? Like avoiding assignments to the point of failure. What about a fear of failure?
Oh my gosh! This is a great video! For the longest time, I had no idea why I have procrastinated so much in my life. I believe every one of these reasons has applied to me at one point or another. Sadly, I had planned to write a paper on procrastination in my first year of college for my English class final. It was two days before it was due, and this was the second time I had changed the topic of my paper, but this topic was important to me; it just had to be the focus of my paper. But, like the procrastinator I am, I put off working on it. To this day, it remains the one essay I never turned in. Why didn’t I turn in what I had? I hadn’t started on it yet. I still haven’t. I’m not even in college anymore, but I know I still want to write that essay. I have to. I hate essays with a burning passion, but this is an important paper for me. And this might just be one of those breakthroughs I’ve been hoping for. Thank you.
I can’t remain focused, it’s always something I never enjoy, and I literally have no motivation for this lmao. Edit: I’m also more of an evening/night person and I literally just focus more on games I obviously enjoy them more I wanna get rid of my procrastination habit because of the amount of stress is causes me 🤧😔
This is literally me. Fear of failure is more me because I try to practice and I mess it up my brain is like “I don’t wanna do this no more” or “nah there ain’t no way bruh”, then I just shut off and can’t be bothered doing it incase I screw up. even though I constantly shame myself for being bad
Your voice is so smooth and sensual, its definitely a contributing factor that keeps my attention through all the videos I’ve watched. Sorry I just wanted to get this off my chest.
I procrastinate a lot when I'm given homework or when I have upcoming exams. The reason is because I tend to do work more efficiently when I'm tensed. I can't focus on anything when I have nothing to stress about. I'm a weird person lmao.
I will say what works for me, which might not work for you, and that is okay, but it is still important to discuss these things in order to help each other find ways that are better for us: I am doing my thesis, and it is really delayed. I realized that most of the situations arise from a feeling of self-doubt mixed with fear of failure. It express itself through a horrible anxiety sensation, and sometimes can turn into anxiety attacks. I am doing journaling in order to exercise facing failure and self-compassion, and in order to diminish the anxiety intensity, exercises with mindfulness.
"Wich of these points do you relate so far ?" Mmh, all of them ? Gosh, thank you for this video. I've had 3 month to do a project, and the limit is tomorow... Well, i started it today ! I'm actually more efficient when i'm pressured... So i guess i'll just work all night and do something nice ! Long live procrastinators ^^ (or maybe not to much ? dunna)
When I procrastinate I see it as putting myself under pressure and produce my best work because maybe I wait until the last moment I think of something or it gives me time to practice or do something that’ll inspire me into a focus mindset
I could relate to all the reasons. Procrastination has become a huge problem for me, especially during this crises where time seems to have ceased as a concept.
I'm definitely an owl. I was the guy submitting college work at 3am. Was also the kinda person to wait until a day or two before the deadline before working on assignments. Trial by fire is the best way to learn and i've always been confident in my skills to work efficiently so i spent the majority of my time both in and out of class gaming on my laptop. Had this persona of being a complete slacker yet still at the top of my class and it drove my more studious friends nuts.
Deadlines make me nervous. I hate them so much but I can’t work without them. If im not under pressure I break but that pressure hurts me too. I stressed easily when I was still in school and in sports and whatnot, but then once quarantine began every single bad thing that I was too occupied to look at overwhelmed me and I was crying myself to sleep all the time. I was convinced I had depression or some serious mental issue. I think I’m okay now, I haven’t had that in days. And I’m glad for that. I am a huge perfectionist procrastinator though😂
I was a dangerous procastinator, but something happened 2 years before and i changed ! Now i tick off every and i mean every list i give to myself a night before for the next day. 66 days of brain programming ,i just bumped into this video on forming habit and i seriously can't believe a person like me changed so much, feels like a miracle. I was the kind of person who studied just 4 hrs before exams, every exam and didn't go to sleep, direct to exam, can you imagine the level of procrastination? I didn't even know how many chapters were there used to be in a subject until i opened the book 4 hrs before, and yeah i always scored good. The concentration in that 4 hours was used to be too strong, and i used to enjoy a lot. But yeah i don't know how i changed!god!

I was procrastinator most of my life, during studies often I was learning to the exams not the days before but in the day of exam like at 4-7 a.m. because I was planning to learn in the night and ended up in the early morning.
I relate with a lot of these.I function best with #5 and I myself was confused why I function like that but now I know why and the correct term. These videos are awesome.
I find funny, and not tragic at all, that youtube is always recommending to me videos related to procrastination, depression and anxiety... welcome to my happy life
Mindfulness meditation helped me to calm my mind under stressful days, but it didn't help me with my anxiety and my cretive block. It was just a temporary solution because I'm inconsistent. Im good at leaving bad habits behind, but bad at incorporing new habits, i find it a bit stressful.
I procrastinate because of creativity swinging between different projects, but also because a ton of bad stuff has happened which makes me feel like giving up. 5+ years ago I moved to a smaller area where basic living is easier, yet it feels like life has no purpose now. I can't move somewhere else because I am disabled.

Evening person.
self doubt.
creative person.
perfectionist
fear of failure
maybe depression.
yeah, I can somewhat relate to this.
i actually put this in "watch later" when i got the notification
I was procrastinator most of my life, during studies often I was learning to the exams not the days before but in the day of exam like at 4-7 a.m. because I was planning to learn in the night and ended up in the early morning.
I relate with a lot of these.I function best with #5 and I myself was confused why I function like that but now I know why and the correct term. These videos are awesome.
I find funny, and not tragic at all, that youtube is always recommending to me videos related to procrastination, depression and anxiety... welcome to my happy life
I can beat my procrastinating and the fear of temporary pain now! It changed my life
The animations are always so adorable lol. And yes, this perfectly explains my procrastination problems!
I relate to having self-doubt, and being a night owl and perfectionist...
best self awareness channel.. needed this information.
This is the first video that doesn't make me feel bad honestly, it makes so much sense.
I dont even know the full definition of procrastination... the vids on this channel just relax me! Keep it up :)
Mindfulness meditation helped me to calm my mind under stressful days, but it didn't help me with my anxiety and my cretive block. It was just a temporary solution because I'm inconsistent. Im good at leaving bad habits behind, but bad at incorporing new habits, i find it a bit stressful.
Am I the only one who thought of Chan's "Like mate, stop prorcastinating"
Any STAY here? Probably not, but you know 😂😂❤️❤️❤️
I procrastinate because of creativity swinging between different projects, but also because a ton of bad stuff has happened which makes me feel like giving up. 5+ years ago I moved to a smaller area where basic living is easier, yet it feels like life has no purpose now. I can't move somewhere else because I am disabled.
Beautiful voice... 😃🥰🥰
This video came out while I'm (not) preparing for an upcoming exam
I definitely agree to 1. and 4. I'm definitely an evening person as well as I often fear failure
When the task is daunting, break it down and prioritize urgent parts of it.
I can't deal with simple tasks and I get overwhelmed very quickly, and easily
See this video in recommendations. Open it in a new tab. "I'll watch it in a bit" xD
