    Funny that I had to stop and go to the store for that same Deep 21mm socket... I don't care how many sockets I have, I always am missing 'that' one. Thanks for great VIDS! Very helpful.

    I forgot to add the footage of the shifter assembly removal in this video, but it is a very simple process and if you run into trouble with it I am sure there are videos on youtube on how to change your shifter. Thanks for watching!

    Just wanted to say thanks for making this video. I referred to it multiple times as I pulled the motor out of mine. Great job, super helpful tips

    in Australia we don't have two oil coolers on the Manuals :/ and our climate is Hot

    • @trackcarobsession
      @trackcarobsession  5 років тому +2

      I have heard that. Seems really strange considering the climate you guys deal with. I wonder if there are more rotary overheating issues down there. I believe the later 6 port cars with automatics here in the USA all received two oil coolers too. My 2008 was an auto with two coolers.

    I have a dumb question how do you know where to hook up the change to pull the engine and transmission out

    • @trackcarobsession
      @trackcarobsession  6 років тому +5

      Not a dumb question. If it's something you haven't done before, then lifting something this heavy can definitely be something to worry about. If you pause at 22:10 you can see a metal bracket with a ring on the top in the top front of the engine and an identical one on the back of the engine. Those are the lifting points for the rx8 engine.

    First great video, thank you. Im going to replace just the motor, no compression. I do understand you are doing the all nine yards, that's great teaching. But to just swap engines looks to me that I don't need to go through all that aggravation right? I believe that I don't need to touch the manual transmission, the all muffler right? thank you

    • @trackcarobsession
      @trackcarobsession  5 років тому +2

      Thank you and yes, you are correct. Don't worry about the PPF, diff, or the trans.I would take off both motor mounts as well as the exhaust manifold. At that point it should be pretty easy to pull straight up.

    Im about to take the tranny and engine together... assemble these others and put back in.
    Hard, but easier tranny install.
    I took engine mounts off. I think the a/c compressor might have to get out though. I accidentally cracked my a/c line then the oring broke!!

    This is a fantastic up close and personal look at yanking a Renesis. It seems that you did the full monty.. whereas it seems a lot of others have done a LOT LESS when swapping eng-tranny.... nonetheless.. this is fantastic and critical visual detail and I thank you!

    So if you are pulling out the motor and rebuilding it and not putting in a new motor do I have to take out the ac compressor or can I just leave it

      Thank you. Hope you were able to get it done. I remember my first transmission swap 18 years ago. A more experienced buddy of mine convinced me that we could do it. Learned to do everything on my car myself ever since. Hope you are able to do the same

    Can you shed light on how you got the PPF brace off? Im having a hard time with it. Its hanging up on the rear but ive gotten all 5 bolts off. I notice you have a stud off the differential where this brace connects. Was that necessary to finally get it to drop?

    • @trackcarobsession
      @trackcarobsession  6 років тому +3

      Ashetyn White if the transmission and rear differential are not supported then they will put pressure on the PPF brace. They are not supported separately like on other cars. If you have the rear of the transmission lined up with the front of the diff the brace should just wiggle right off without trouble.

      @@913KMG Sweet. I still have some gutting to do to the doors and some other areas. Are you going to rebuild the rotary? Is this just a fun car or are you planning on competing with it?

    • @913KMG
      @913KMG 4 роки тому +2

      @@trackcarobsession yeah I'm thinking about rebuilding it. I had never owned anything with a rotary before but I think I'm hooked now! 😆 Eventually I'd like to try to compete, was researching the SCCA recently so I might take a crack at that at some point. For now it's mainly just a part-time build though lol
