- Raja is a bengal and savannah cat who likes to go on adventures outdoors. Here she is chirping at a bird nearby. Cats try to imitate the sounds of their prey by their vocalizations or chirps. This was filmed in northern Minnesota.

My cat would chirp when she saw birds.
Thats what they do when they try to imitate birds and make the birds come to them, but they don't understand how they don't sound like them.

Looking out the back window... birds, squirrels, rabbits, snakes (ocassional, small ones), other cats, and small dogs. It's really fun if you have 2 cats looking out together ... They'll chirp like they're talking to each other.

Don't believe everything you see on the interwebs. I don't think there is a scientific consensus why cats do this but in most cases it seems they do it when they see prey they can't reach. A cat in a window looking at birds vs a cat outside stalking a bird within reach.
