      @Calife-xt8jm NFL contracts are supposed to be for what you are going to do not what you have done. What would happen to your company if you paid a guy max salary to run it and he didn't have the skills necessary to do it? Would that company suffer bc of it?

      @@TheBSReportThat’s not how any company gives raises. It’s always for “past performance” such as goals met, things achieved, etc.

      No one really earns $65M/yr in reality but it's what the market dictates. I'd take less though cuz it's less pressure to be everything for the team and gives them room to build the kind of team around him to keep him successful and upright.

    Let Purdy walk and find a new Purdy. He is not worth the crazy money he is just average and replaceable. Unlike Baker who is on his 4th team purdy has always been with the 49ers. Name the FA QB who left in FA and did better.

    A coach that doesn't draft or prioritize OL means that he's gonna get injured. Then he's gonna get labeled. When the label lands he's done. So...get a fatty contract while you can command it and the market assures it or hope that the coach and management break from character and protect you for a long career. Evidence supports going for the big money and forcing them to protect the investment or suffer as a team long term. Unless the Niners are going to only have QBs on rookie contracts forever.

      @TheBSReport  13 днів тому

      What i said was that if he takes less the team around him will allow him to play at a high level. if he can continue to play at last seasons level he will be able to be paid in that 40-45 range for a long time. if he takes a top of market deal 60-65 and he has to carry the team, much like this year, he will not be viewed as a top level qb and will not be paid as anything more then a bridge or back up qb. i never said his career will be over or shorter, i said it will be different. in fact i specifically said that i wasnt saying his career was over, i was saying if he takes that top money him being viewed as a top level qb or a franchise guy would be over by the middle of the contract.

    • @profniner80

      he may not, but he should and getting hurt behind that shit OL will happen cuz KS will not invest in it. And he took less because he had a bad yr or two at Iowa st and that hurt his draft stock and that's why he got picked last.

    If I was the GM I would sign either Zach Wilson, Daniel Jones or Carson Wentz and not pay Brock more than $40 million per year. Take it or leave it. He can't reasonably expect a top of the market deal coming off a down year and with his injury concerns. He has no leverage since no other team would pay him more. If he isn't willing to take that deal and play on his current contract and vows to hold out, I would trade him before the draft and draft another QB. Even if he takes the Baker deal I would still draft another QB.

      @TheBSReport  12 днів тому +1

      @@ProgDan49 i can't disagree with any of that. I especially like the idea of giving Zach Wilson a look and drafting a mid round guy like Jaxson Dart.

      @ It seems the general consensus around the league is that Purdy is physically limited and his performance has been lifted significantly by the offensive scheme, play caller and elite weapons. That many other competent quarterbacks would look pretty good in the same situation (case in point, Garoppolo). Why would a team with a different scheme and a lesser OC and weapons expect Purdy to replicate his peak level of play and be worth top QB money?
      If you’re right, then another team can make the mistake of paying a non-elite QB top dollar. Just because other teams have done it doesn’t mean the 49ers have to.

Can you tell me multiple people around the league who have said that? because literally every single person who breaks down film (and all the former QB's who have their own shows as hosts and UA-cam channels) all say he is in the upper elites of the NFL qb hierarchy

      @@kristobin8451 NFL executives have said he’s at best solid or a system quarterback. In regards to whether or not a team is willing to pay him top money, they’re going off their own evaluations and not necessarily former players and analysts’ opinions.

    Problem with the idea of taking less, there's no guarantee the teams good next year. If hes smart he will take 50 million a year for 5, 150-200 guaranteed. Leave some fat on the bone but takes care of himself no matter what the team does. If the teams bad and he gets decent stats he will Still get a baker deal from someone else after this deal assuming 49rs move on. 49ers have to grow up and do the responsible thing, get rid of aging talent and bring in rookies. You cant have 10 name brand guys on 1 team and then put it all on your Qb to take less, thats not how it works for anyone outside of 1 year/1 off super teams with dudes about to retire like 2020 bucs.

    • @RickHawj

      He’s not worth the 50 million a year? If I was the niners I’ll let him test the market because he’s not not gonna get that offers? Niners gotta be stupid to give him the number that he wanted?

    You just made the argument to get as much as he can with the OL comment. He got hurt a few times this year alone not to mention his elbow injury. All because of a poor OL. No guarantee with KS's approach he will be around either with getting killed by a poor OL. So what's the solution? Get a good OL!!!
    But maybe you forgot KS conversation with Jed York. "Our best QB is the 3rd stringer". He is elite. FACT
