When buying a truck, #1 consideration is how much money it will put in your pocket. What it looks like doesn't even make the list.
You are on the right track. You increased your take home and paying off debt. That's huge. Great way to live. Me, I would look at Vinyl Peel and Stick flooring at Home Depot. Cheap and water, salt, etc. won't wreck it.
No truck debt is the win. It is very clear, you made the right business decision. The sage colors look great! We all can't wait to see the reno process.

After 43 years long haulin, had to step out and retire due to a cancer diagnosis. Watch lots of truck content now ,and you are on a solid track to succeed. Love the older trucks anyway, and i can see that truck looking better than it ever has. Good luck and have a blast with the truck
You sir are a smart man , and from what I have seen in your videos you have been making very wise decisions. I agree with your choice to buy a cash truck because #1 you are keeping your over head low especially with today's rates #2 you are enjoying all of the benefits of Landstar maximizing your earning potential equaling more money 💰 on your settlements which by the way are looking awesome for being home daily. I started Landstar with a truck already paid for, and I also worked for a fleet owner out of fortworth Texas that took 50% of the nets so I know the pay differences and I applaud 👏 you for getting an awesome truck that's mechanically sound and paid for. I don't care what anyone says about how it looks. Remember looks don't make no money. I wish nothing but the best for you and your beautiful family keep moving foward.

In my opinion you did the right thing. I miss Black Beauty but you did the right thing. I like the flooring in Lowes that would go great in the interior. Is the interior going to be black? If so have the seats in a light color. Be safe.

Watching from over the pond in the UK ,did the Owner Driver thing myself many years ago and am totally behind you with what you are doing.You can’t run before you can walk and what you are doing is not a backwards step, it’s just the start of going forward at a pace you can control and the truck you have chosen is fine and is going to get better with the plans you have to trim the interior and eventually get a spray job on the outside in your preferred colour scheme.Wish you well and luck in the per suit of your dreams and will continue to watch you grow 👍
Damn lonestar was straight, no vaseline and plus truck repairs! U did excellent.
Good video, No truck debt is best in the long run, might want to put the rubber boot on the shifter screwed down semi tight to the floor, even if temporary to keep the fumes of the road, engine, transmission breathers venting into the truck cabin can get you feeling like crap. And remember to put back a regular normal maintenance account for tires...etc and extended maintenance program savings account for those big issues of replacing a transmission or rear-end or some major engine work. Keep the rubber on the road.
As much as I wanted you to keep the Lonestar, I understand and am 100%behind your decision on getting the FLD. We will get that truck looking, running, and sounding good.
For insulation... what I would do is pull out all of your interior and have expandable foam sprayed in. You will need way less conditioning to keep your cab comfortable!

The vinyl flooring will last a lot longer and more water,moisture and mold resistant than and the laminate flooring. The wood color in vinyl was nice with the light color swatches you showed. Can’t wait to see what y’all end up with.

You made the right choice 100%. I wouldn't have bought the truck you did because its so rough but it does seem to run really well. If I got back into trucking I would buy an older truck with a Detroit and refurbish it and run it. If you can work on it yourself or have handy friends you won't spend nearly what a note costs to keep it going. Your numbers show how hard it is to make a living with a high truck payment in this market.
Your making all the right moves brother keep on keeping on that truck you got is better than alot of the new ones out there

Good on you, a wise decision to buy the FLD, a few months & you can restore & upgrade the cosmetic's out of the extra income as you wish, a much gruntier truck, & will do up nicely. On another note with the recent truck driver shootings & robberies, do you carry a weapon for self defence? as some of the places you have to park overnight, seem to look quite dodgy to me. I think you made a smart decision when you moved to Landstar and bought your own truck without a loan
I would have done what you did and that FLD is not junk it’s good truck just appearances needs fixing
The shipper pays the broker..the broker takes 10 percent then sells the load to another broker who sells it to landstar. Landstar takes 35 percent then pays a company who takes 25: percent while your paying for fuel maintenance and payment. Your left with scraps so you have to live in a junk truck. See the problem! $15,000 week pays you 2900. Go get your own authority.

Just remember to save and invest. One day you will be old. Plan for unexpected illness and disability if you can. A good disability policy will save years of accumulated savings from having to be spent due to the disability.
Hate to say it but then “Landstar” fleets hahha. Just as bad as these Russians companies 😂😂😂 fact is DONT LEASE irs made to make you kill yoself and make the LESSOR $$$ NOY YOU. They chargin 1k week for truck note OUCH. And that’s on those numbers imagine if you ran crazy and had a 12k week truck would be 2-2500 a WEEK? Everybody offering ANY kind of Lease is pimpin.
