I was at the same spot on 16/05/2022 by CE134 signal What a difference. Now a view of tracks hidden by weeds and a fraction of the activity there used to be. At least I saw 2 x 08 shunting stock. Thanks for the memories
@@paekokstationmaster5032 Gosh you would not recognise our railways now then, so much has changed, the station itself looks pretty much the same as it did back then though. The fast lines through the middle are 80mph now which back then you would never dream of seeing
@@paekokstationmaster5032 That's the biggest change now. Hardly any locos left in passenger use everything else is fixed formation units. It's a lot more economic but not so interesting
@@cedarcam Yeap well that's progress for ya! Was certainly great in the 80s and 90s for loco hauled passenger trains and for example on Sat/Sun 15 & 16th of July 1989 I travelled overnight from Exeter to Glasgow and then back to Crewe. On the way up there was loco changes at Bristol, Birmingham, Preston and Carlisle and on the way back at Carlisle and Preston! So haulage behind 4 different 47s an 86 and a 90!
An excellent film! Brings back memories and sounds from the BR era - what a variety of locos. I visited Crewe regularly between 1981 - 1991; in that last year I was living on the Central Wales line so Crewe was a practical full day outing! Thank you so much for capturing, editing and sharing this with us, much appreciated. Liked and Subscribed; your channel is a little gold mine!
Thanks very much for that. I only wished I had purchased a video camera earlier on and then spent more time getting to a few other places as well! Still glad I got what I did and glad you are enjoying.

I can imagine it's nothing like it was in those days!
Been a long long time since I've been at Crewe, well the UK for that matter!

@@cedarcam That's progress for you, just think how uneconomic is was having that many loco's sitting around!

Only a handful of 85s left by that time.
I remember there were still some working Euston on the empty stock!
Any ideas on the carriages at 1:33?
Looks like some kind of research test train! One of the ones that operated from Derby?
