The most important differential maintenance job is to change the oil. It will not have been done by the dealer as they will regard it as "sealed for life" which is why there is no drain plug. The job can be tricky depending upon which model you have but there is plenty of information to be found on the internet. If your car has done more that 75k miles, then it is definitely due for change, as will be the auto gearbox fluid.
Personally, I do not think that the Jaguar style of differential breather is likely to be blocked but there is no harm in checking it.

Hi Richard, 100% agree. I am in fact about 90% done with filming the differential fluid change video - it was a difficult video to make, but I hope it's worth it for other community members. I will move on to the transmission fluid probably in a couple of months from now. My vehicle is under 50k miles at the moment.

@@2001JaguarXK8 Under 50k miles for a 2001 model is very low mileage. Well done for finding such a good example. She looks to be in lovely condition.
Changing the auto and diff oil at 50k is an excellent plan and will really extend the life of your car well beyond the normal. It's a pity that most XK8's have not been as well looked after as yours.
Mine is an Antigua Blue 1997 which is an usual colour here in the UK. I think that yours might also be the same colour, assuming that it was still available in 2001?

Hi Richard, my exterior colour code is JHM, which I think is considered "Pacific Blue". It is possible that side-by-side, the two colours would appear similar. I have never seen an Antigua Blue XK8 before. Thank you for your insightful comments!
