This lady is such an awesome owner. Putting aside her charming voice, she was kind, eager to learn and patient, so many virtues most people do not have nowadays. And she harvested great results very quickly, it was truly beautiful! And yes, as Will said: she is one of them lovely owners who doesn't want to stress their dog too much.. she has a beautiful, strong and well behaved dog. Awesome video!
Hey. It occurs to me that this is the same method that people should use raise kids. Too many parents look to the child to make decisions and the child doesn't know what to do so it "gets outside the green circle". Love it

How are you going now? Did you get the dog? Before I noticed how old your comment is I was going to say that if you get a puppy, remember to start training it as a puppy for how you want it to behave as an adult. Don't accept anything from a small pup that you won't accept from a large adult. Be consistent with that and the dog will learn.
I have used lots of your techniques to fine tune the training of my adopted German Shepherd, who is 8 and I've had for a year. I have finally got the confidence to get a puppy, due in May, a Swiss Shepherd.

Totally agree. I started with slip lead however with help of a trainer I moved to Herm sprenger collar - what a change plus applying tune up walk and yes! Bingo! Drastic improvement on dog/people reactivity. Walks are pleasure and hardly even pop the leash things are so much better! Thank you and regards from 🇨🇦

Loads of websites say that slip leads are cruel, yet many trainers seem to use them. I have a new GSD x Akita rescue, trying to train with a standard collar, feeling confused whether to get a slip lead to try these techniques? And, when do you progress from slip lead to normal collar?
Akitas are amazing when they have the the right training and the right owner. The Japanese type are in my opinion more primal and harder to train. Both types with the wrong owner are a liability. Some of the injuries inflicted by these dogs are absolutely horrific.

Dog need know what is problem and where is boundary. So negative reinforcement is great as positive. Jing and jang can't be separated and dogs are like a children. If child doesn't know what is wrong and what is good, it's same. We need teach them consequences.❤

Ive offered to help on the side for him since he does favours for us sometimes. Any tips for that kind of breed, am trying to get his training sorted soon before he gets really big. At 1.30 in the reason dogs need and should be corrected is because they need to be domesticated to live in a structured society where they're around other people, kids and other pets. If a dog owner doesn't recognize or believe in that fact they should not be allowed to own a "PET"!

Hi Will, my dilemma is this, my 3 y/o greyhound is fine most of the time except when I want to walk him or if I am going out and he knows I am taking him with me in the car. He jumps up and scratches & bruises me when I take my keys out and walk to the door, but the worst time is when I bring out the lead & harness to walk him. He goes crazy jumping & barking. I cannot control him. I have tried turning my back but he continues. He is a big boy and hurts me when he does this. Otherwise, the rest of the time he is a gentle giant, even when greeting people, he just sniffs them, no more. He never jumps on anyone. What should I do?? He is a rescue, so I have only had him for 4 months. It seems to be that his lead & harness are ques that say to him that something exciting is happening, so he gets super excited.

I've got a 14 week old cocker puppy, he seems alright on walks and doesn't pull on the lead much. But when we turn around to go home he is scraping on the ground trying to get back. Is there any way to fix this? No matter which way we go he seems to know which direction home is.
Since he is so young I would just stop, once he looks at you give praise and keep going. Maybe stop and go back a few steps. That’s what I did with my pup when he was around 4-5 months. When he pulled I would say ah ah turn and go back five strides. When he was by my side again I would praise and turn and keep moving again in the direction we where headed initially. This took time, but really seemed to work in my case.

I didn't realise at the time, but doing earlier training with my girl to "get back" and sit until I invited her through EVERY SINGLE DOOR inside the house helped me enormously when it came to going for a walk out the front door . It is incredibly tedious to make her wait - sometimes for a minute or two until I invite her through door in the house EVERY SINGLE TIME (we still do this) but it set us up really well with going out the front door and taught her some impulse control. (which also helps with "stays") She's a big pup who's going to be a big fierce dog and I'm not having her shouldering her way through humans to get out the door then dragging me down the street. She needs to start earning her way to even go through the door on the walk . Calm persistence is key and I intend to win these battles of wills if it's the last thing I do !!

I tried doing this at my dog park and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but my boy was getting mad on the leash a dog would come up to him and he would bite at them every dog and I know it’s not him because that’s not usually him I cause this behavior some reason.
Start practicing in a more tranquil (private) space with fewer distractions. The dog park should only be the final stage of the whole training process. At the moment you're probably not a "qualified" leader in the eyes of your dog and it doesn't trust your decisions
I ask you to study the breeds and the combination of the breeds. I've owned Akitas and I owned a husky mix. Akitas are notoriously bad with other dogs. There are exceptions, but they are frequently very dog aggressive. A dog of that size and strength can easily seize another dog in its jaws and chomp down like a vice. I've seen it. My husky mix had tremendous insecurity. This dog may not feel that this woman can protect him; it would be logical that this dog feels he must protect this woman. I ran into this problem with my husky mix and he wouldn't stop guarding things. Very difficult. Please study this breed combo.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. She said the dog was ok until the other dogs started to get a little excited. I should think that this lady would definately not be able to cope with that akita. It is about the same size as my akita and even with a slip lead when these dogs get rattled they can buck, spin and pull like a deranged rhino. Seriously if I was walking down the street and saw this lady coming towards me with her dog, even it it was on the opposite side of the road I would do an immediate 180 and get the fuck away. It's too much dog for her.

The issue I have is my dogs plowing me over from behind knocking me down everytime outside. How can this be fixed? Is it a dominance thing or is it them not paying attention when playing?
Will my old thyme bulldog is protective over food with my cats and bit a 50p hole in my mastiffs face during her first season. She isn’t aggressive at all with me or my son or dogs when we are out. She was abused by the breeder.. it came to light she and her sister were left 12 hours a day in a small crate with one bowl of food. I took both girls my daughter has her sister with no issues. My pup ate every faeces for months on end. We’ve almost over come that now.. what can I we do about the anxiety over food. I over fed her on one occasion to see if it settled her but she would literally eat and eat until unable to move if I let her. I realise she has psychological issues. I rehomed my 5 year old mastiff for her protection. Which was heartbreaking but realised I couldn’t rehome the pup with her issues. When the cats aren’t near their food up on the kitchen side she cuddles up beside them. We would be incredibly grateful for any guidance or direction to any previous videos.
Reminds me of my cousins pitbull boxer mix, Cane. When other people walked him he was all over the place, seemed anxious and because of him being anxious he would be snappy. So my cousin and my brother were scared to walk him. I started to play with him in our backyard before I started to walk him. (To get him a little bit tired cause he was a very very strong dog.) He tried tugging and pulling but I would stop or change direction. Slowly over time he looked for me and his snappyness dropped. He wasn't afraid of people when I was around and I could talk with people with him right next to me. There would be times where he let oht a little growl from him being abandoned or hit by previous owners but I would make a small noise and look at him and he stopped. I tried telling my cousin what to do and how to act with him but she was always afraid and couldn't handle him.. She ended up giving him away sadly. But he is doing better with the other people he is with so that makes me happy
I have had my pup on a slip lead for 2 weeks now, when i walk him on a normal lead, he is amazing, but not perfect yet. Should I just keep using it until i get 100% responsive feedback from my pup?

Hi there, recently started watching your videos and i have say your methods have seriously helped me with training my 4 year old springerdor. Would you maybe do a video or have any advise of how to prevent your dog on eating things off the ground such as other dog feaces & sticks etc.. his recall was very good but recently has become more interested in eating other things or distracted by other people who would normally give him treats which we no longer allow and will sometimes run straight past me or even sometimes completly ignore my commands after i have tried recall or to simply get his attention. Any advice would be amazing 😄🐕
Thank you. I'm so glad I found your channel. We have two husky/german shepherd puppies and they are in the jumping/biting phase. We have two grandbabies that the dogs are now bigger than. It's been rough trying to get them to stop jumping/biting while they are excited.
Really dislike when people get big dogs despite not having the physique or mental attitude to deal with them. Behavioral issues in a small dog is a nuisance, behavioural issues in a large dog is down right dangerous, your dog will not always be a puppy and easy to handle if you can't deal with a big dog don't get one.

Mixed signals are huge. A friend had an enormous Samoyed that always jumped up. My friend would be telling the dog to stop but at the same time laughing and lifting his arms up as if he was playing keep-away with the dog. Dogs don't understand human language until you make an association between a sound and a behaviour. The dog just thought his owner was playing and jumped even higher. No point saying the word sit or stop when your body language is saying "wheeeee! this is fun!! jump higher!!".

I ask you to study the breeds and the combination of the breeds. I've owned Akitas and I owned a husky mix. Akitas are notoriously bad with other dogs. There are exceptions, but they are frequently very dog aggressive. A dog of that size and strength can easily seize another dog in its jaws and chomp down like a vice. I've seen it. My husky mix had tremendous insecurity. This dog may not feel that this woman can protect him; it would be logical that this dog feels he must protect this woman. I ran into this problem with my husky mix and he wouldn't stop guarding things. Very difficult. Please study this breed combo.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. She said the dog was ok until the other dogs started to get a little excited. I should think that this lady would definately not be able to cope with that akita. It is about the same size as my akita and even with a slip lead when these dogs get rattled they can buck, spin and pull like a deranged rhino. Seriously if I was walking down the street and saw this lady coming towards me with her dog, even it it was on the opposite side of the road I would do an immediate 180 and get the fuck away. It's too much dog for her.

The issue I have is my dogs plowing me over from behind knocking me down everytime outside. How can this be fixed? Is it a dominance thing or is it them not paying attention when playing?
Will my old thyme bulldog is protective over food with my cats and bit a 50p hole in my mastiffs face during her first season. She isn’t aggressive at all with me or my son or dogs when we are out. She was abused by the breeder.. it came to light she and her sister were left 12 hours a day in a small crate with one bowl of food. I took both girls my daughter has her sister with no issues. My pup ate every faeces for months on end. We’ve almost over come that now.. what can I we do about the anxiety over food. I over fed her on one occasion to see if it settled her but she would literally eat and eat until unable to move if I let her. I realise she has psychological issues. I rehomed my 5 year old mastiff for her protection. Which was heartbreaking but realised I couldn’t rehome the pup with her issues.
When the cats aren’t near their food up on the kitchen side she cuddles up beside them. We would be incredibly grateful for any guidance or direction to any previous videos.
Reminds me of my cousins pitbull boxer mix, Cane. When other people walked him he was all over the place, seemed anxious and because of him being anxious he would be snappy. So my cousin and my brother were scared to walk him.
I started to play with him in our backyard before I started to walk him. (To get him a little bit tired cause he was a very very strong dog.) He tried tugging and pulling but I would stop or change direction. Slowly over time he looked for me and his snappyness dropped. He wasn't afraid of people when I was around and I could talk with people with him right next to me. There would be times where he let oht a little growl from him being abandoned or hit by previous owners but I would make a small noise and look at him and he stopped. I tried telling my cousin what to do and how to act with him but she was always afraid and couldn't handle him.. She ended up giving him away sadly. But he is doing better with the other people he is with so that makes me happy
I have had my pup on a slip lead for 2 weeks now, when i walk him on a normal lead, he is amazing, but not perfect yet. Should I just keep using it until i get 100% responsive feedback from my pup?

Hi there, recently started watching your videos and i have say your methods have seriously helped me with training my 4 year old springerdor. Would you maybe do a video or have any advise of how to prevent your dog on eating things off the ground such as other dog feaces & sticks etc.. his recall was very good but recently has become more interested in eating other things or distracted by other people who would normally give him treats which we no longer allow and will sometimes run straight past me or even sometimes completly ignore my commands after i have tried recall or to simply get his attention. Any advice would be amazing 😄🐕
An Akita husky mix almost definitely requires training or they will run circles around you and can be dangerous
Thank you. I'm so glad I found your channel. We have two husky/german shepherd puppies and they are in the jumping/biting phase. We have two grandbabies that the dogs are now bigger than. It's been rough trying to get them to stop jumping/biting while they are excited.

Really dislike when people get big dogs despite not having the physique or mental attitude to deal with them.
Behavioral issues in a small dog is a nuisance, behavioural issues in a large dog is down right dangerous, your dog will not always be a puppy and easy to handle if you can't deal with a big dog don't get one.

Mixed signals are huge. A friend had an enormous Samoyed that always jumped up. My friend would be telling the dog to stop but at the same time laughing and lifting his arms up as if he was playing keep-away with the dog. Dogs don't understand human language until you make an association between a sound and a behaviour. The dog just thought his owner was playing and jumped even higher. No point saying the word sit or stop when your body language is saying "wheeeee! this is fun!! jump higher!!".
I love how you handled that ,my dog is the same mix and does the same thing so I might invest in 1of them leads because that was perfect 🥰
