Mirror Julie: "how many fingers am I holding up?" "2?" "No, different word for that" "a pair" "mmmm no, keep going" "Double?" "Exactly, because it's your favorite kind of standards"
"Isn't this just your favorite double standard?" Interesting that you say that, because of how it ended I truly just felt like the character needed to vent because of her ex moving on with this person. It wasn't so much that they actually felt those things, but they just needed to say it to feel better, and they did so in a save space with their friend. And once they were done, clearly the friend checked and was like "we okay, we done with the venting?" (when they said "we done now?"), and then they went back to being supportive. I don't see it as a double standard per se, but a (somewhat crappy) coping mechanism. If it stays between those two friends I feel like it can be a healthy way of just getting shitty feelings (that are imposed on you by the society we live in) out of your system. Also, me writing so much about this sketch, clearly shows that there's room for interpretation if any art piece. ;)
I agree! Breaking up is hard, so having a vent together, even though it's about someone else, is okay. As long as they don't hurt anyone of course. It's normal to not be a fan of someone who has "taken your place" and brings up feelings of envy and jealousy. It could also be losing a job only to be replaced by someone of the opposite gender. Shit talking is important sometimes... Coping mechanism!!! It's totally fine. Honestly.
@@uatafaka how we handle jealousy is very dictated by how the society we live in has taught us to deal with it. Popular culture included. @@MarieAxelsson Nobody gets jealous because society tells us to. You either have a jealous reaction in a moment like that or you don't. Jealousy is a normal human emotion. Seriously. If you take a step back and think about it, there's no need to make excuses or to blame "society" for feeling a normal human emotion. Blame it on the "white male patriarchy" instead of a human being simply being a human being? Sheesh...
