- One big infrastructure project that Mumbaikars were waiting for, the COASTAL ROAD, is now open. At least, the first phase is. Not only will this road transform commute in South Mumbai, it will drastically alter the landscape of the Western coastline. The distance between Marine Drive and Worli is expected to take just 10 minutes, as opposed to the 35-40 minutes it used to take. Once the full project is open, a route which takes 2 hours will take just about 40 minutes! Watch this video for all the details about the timeline, phases of construction, the route map and what exactly the project has to offer. Tune in!

Just ruining a beautiful coast line with a highway!!! Why not build a tram or light rail in that area instead of this road!!! Later on, the road will be full of traffic!!!
Coastline is already ruined by millions of people in Mumbai dumping garbage in the sea. The road at least has utility for the masses. Light rail/metro is no use if it's a disconnected stretch, what are people in cars and vehicles gonna do? Park their vehicles midway and take a metro? That's why you're not the one planning. Sit tight and let experts deal with it.
@@the_drifter-bw9hj Even car owners dump garbage in the sea you know, not just poor people or people who usually take public transport. The govt approach shouldn't be "how to move more vehicles" but "how to move more people around". So yes, car owners can stop taking their cars and start moving around in public transit.
@@DAG924 look at the map of Mumbai and at the start and end point of coastal highway and the DPR of the project. What you said was a whole lot of nothing which meant nothing. Also look at the metro rail map of Mumbai which is nowhere near the coastal stretch. Thousands of crores was spent on this project I'm sure they thought about it more than you.
@@the_drifter-bw9hj Ah yes, I'm saying a lot of nothing apparently. How's Mumbai traffic treating you?? Have you ever heard of induced demand? If you build more roads, more people will take the car for travel and the roads will become blocked with traffic again. Then they will expand the roads and this cycle will continue, until they realize it was all pointless to build and a transit system would have been much better. I suggest doing some basic research when it comes to transit and traffic congestion and seeing how things work in general instead of blindly relying on experts.
@@DAG924 Oh yes a bit of research done by a keyboard warrior on the internet vs a team of civil engineers, city planners, architects with compete mapping of traffic data. I wonder who I should listen to 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Useless...Kolkata is way better
Only in having highest number of Bangladeshis 😂
@@akk424 yes much better in terms of illegal settlements of Rohingyas😄
In what aspect ? What a looser 😅 Kolkata or WB has only appeasement politics practiced by TMC which is the worst for the state and has led WB and Kolkata to doors of doom and apathy
If it was asked in 1950s 1960s i would say it was even better than Singapore!
There was a time when Kolkata was the leading city in India but after that the Left party and the now ruling Mamata Banerjee's TMC party completely and totally West Bengal was left behind in terms of development. Kolkata today is not even 10 % of Mumbai in terms of development.
