Michael, did you see the video I just released? I am working on getting some panther chameleons too and am documenting how I do it. Maybe this can help your search? ua-cam.com/video/QFcwaraJ2Ds/v-deo.html
I love this little set-up. But if you are going to replicate this I encourage you to use a 24" x 24" x 48" size. It would provide a great home for your chameleon for much longer. I did this one just to make use of a small cage I was not going to do anything else with and to have fun making a "micro-environment". But this will only be good for another few months before he out grows it!
I start with crickets and larger food as soon as they are big enough to eat the smallest crickets or other food I have. We want them to pack on the weight and crickets are great for that. I do use at least calcium with crickets because they are so high in phosphorus. I really have not seen a problem with a monthly dusting of a multivitamin( like Repashy Calcium Plus LoD for Jacksons) so I do that as well. But all during this time I keep wild fruit flies available for them (undusted, of course) so they have options.
How do you keep up with humidity if the cage is outside? Do you already live in a very humid place? What about at night when humidity needs to be VERY high?
Outdoor humidity can be increased by use of foggers or misters. But outdoors is a different situation. There is a better flow of air and natural rhythms. The bigger the outdoors cage the more microclimates that can be formed and the more options the chameleon has to find where they are comfortable. With indoors keeping we have to give as ideal of conditions as possible to make up for removing so many options from them. The outdoor rhythms cannot make up for environmental extremes so, as always, we have to be vigilant with what they receive. But you do get more leeway outdoors.
Awesome little cage setup. I am researching panther chameleons. You sir have been a big help. Thank you for your wealth of knowledge

How long do you rely on wild fruit flies until you add regular food like cricket? suplementation is started when you give cricket right?

Thanks for explaining! I had never seen anyone have an outdoor cage, I think they're really cool!
@@malrose outdoor keeping has its challenges, but it is amazing how well chameleons do with it!
I wonder if I could get away with an outdoor enclosure in California ?
Many of us do. But it requires special consideration and to be familiar with what your species needs.
