Mine also has G-Sync and this doesn't. Mine has optimus advanced, does this? Like what should I do here? What would you guys do?
I personally prefer the omen 17 but the 16 is excellent as well. If you love the 16 then get them to repair it if you can wait. If not, ask for an Omen 17 3080 for the inconvenience since the omen 17 is generally less expensive for the most part.

"I think they could have squeezed a numeric pad on there, but I don't think many gamers care about that". And that makes me angry. :) I'm a professional user who does 3D content creation but does not want to spend $6000 on a PC. I want something discrete that doesn't cost the same as a small car. Being a technical user I use 3D CAD/CAE programs and I also type in a lot of constraints expressed as lengths or percentages. I also have to do a lot of scratch-pad maths to work out sizing, costs and quantities. So, what I want to know is.... why do laptops now come in two kinds: Boring desktops for basic browsing, email and word processing with no graphics power or PCs with graphics power which are designed exclusively for gamers and have all the obnoxious garish branding and neon which adults hate. I'm a pro. I want a powerful graphics laptop for pro apps and so I want a numeric pad, sober styling and a dedicated GPU. Where's my laptop?

So you might want to try and update everything to the lataest version, i grabed my graphics drivers direct from nvidia.
Hope you're enjoying it!
@@TheDigitalDigest Yes i am enjoying it, it took some tweaking. For example i was using cpuz to monitor my ram and i noticed my ram frequency was like 1400mhz and my timings kept bouncing from cl15 to 21 it was rather odd. Here it was a power saving feature intel created that enabled in the bios its supposed to only work when on battery but apparently it still down clocks your ram even on AC power. So i turned this feature off now my ram is 1596mhz cl22 and my games fps is more stable as well. Im still exploring to see if there are other settings i can tweak to get more performance. I think next im going to look at undervolting the cpu.
@@haneko6422 Hi i got this laptop but with the 11800h and 3070 what feature did you disable to even out your ram timings? And also how did you access advanced optimus? And do you have any tips or tricks to get the maximum performance out of this laptop?
Hey bro can you benchmark games on this best. No-one has. It will cost my mind

Thanks for watching!

does the battery Life in normal Office Mode is about 3 or 4 hours or less?
Bro which parts are aluminium and which are plastics?
I took off the heatsink and there is thermal paste all under it.. I do not see any thermal pads on the VRMs and memory.. Is this normal?
So bud, I can't decide what to do here and kinda need your help in the decision making process. I bought the HP Omen 16 ceramic white with the rtx 3070 115w. HP has my laptop with the engineering team to repair and I won't get it back until mid/late April due to waiting on a touchpad cable part from China. My HP Case Manager has offered me an exchange from my laptop to the Omen 17t-ck000 with the i7-11800h and the RTX 3070 140w. I really don't know what to do here as I absolutely love the ceramic white and the fact my laptop is a limited and special edition model and it does game MORE than adequately.
@@TheDigitalDigest the 17 doesn't have Gsync, correct? Is it Optimus or Optimus advanced? And what's the power of the 3080 in the Omen 17?
@@tjroth2840 you should take 3070 140 TGP, with 17” it will be best choose.
@@TheDigitalDigest Did they ever come out with a 17inch version with a 3070 that wasnt 140w? I found one that is on sale but I cannot find the 3070 watts anywhere.......help!!! its the HP OMEN 17-ck0065cl model.
NEW OMEN 17 RTX 3070 COMPUTER ACHIEVED BUT I CAN'T TURN ON THE KEYBOARD LIGHTS, CAN YOU HELP ME?
Just 1 small question I have. On my Hp , from a year, my Omen Control Center it doesn't work at all. I mean espacially the keyboard lights
nice video. been binging you aero 15 and asus g15 comparison.
Will you have plans of checking the aero 15 2021 4K oled with 11800h ? TIA
If Gigabyte sends it over...absolutely
In another review there was stated the fans make a ''pulsating'' noise. Any problems with thath?
Does it have usb c for vr?
Do you find it less comfortable to game on the keyboard do to all the keys being shifted to the right more than other laptops. Im a little concerned that i may not like that....
it isn't an issue for me but I understand where you're coming from. I think you will be very happy with this machine.
@@TheDigitalDigest Okay, thank you. Mine should be here around Feb 17th. Will be my first gaming laptop, iv always built my own gaming desktops.
@@TheDigitalDigest Im not sure if you can confirm this or not but i read on a forum that the temps are good on this machine because HP throtles the cpu compared to other manufacturers. In other words the hp omen 17 might only hit 3ghz and maintains 70c while other manufacturers hit like 3.4 or 3.5 at 89c. Higher temps but they are getting better frame rates.
so rtx is included with it?
I just ordered mine
I will be ding video editing and photography editing.
Can the function buttons be programmed for my photoshop programs?

Got one of the 3060 models today ,severe light bleed from the bottom left corner out about a inch slowly fading to the top left of the screen :(
Does your omen 17t fan airflow have a breathing like sound to it? Like it goes in and out every second. I cant tell if I have a faulty model or if it by design. All thermal seem to be correct, just weird airflow sound.
I mentioned this in the video. It seems to be normal.
One downside to many HP gaming laptops is that the exhaust is loud; my model is coming next week with the i7-11800h, rtx 3070. It still performs like all the big boys with a cheaper price tag. Using mine like a desktop so it's nothing a pair of headphones or turning up the volume won't fix.
Where can I get one with i7+3070 ? All out of stock In Canada
Do you still recommend this pc?
Are you certain you can't charge through your thunderbolt port.? I have the manual for this machine and it states you can?
you can charge other devices...not the laptop unfortunately
I'm thinking about getting the maxed out Version of this from the hp website. Comes in around 2500 plus taxes. Is this the best I can get at that price point for gaming? I'm a truck driver so playing playing down with it on my lap is my only option. I currently have the hp omen 17 I got from Walmart around 2 or 3 years ago for around 1800 and it crapped out on me today.
it only lasted you 2-3 years? so it doesn't last long?
why are you going for another hp omen if it only lasted you 2-3 years?
@@janetheobscure3426 because I was rough with it. Being a truck driver a lot of times I'd have to get out of bed really fast and putting down the laptop safely usually isn't priority

Can you achieve g-sync with an external monitor?
Where do you can buy this laptop in the USA?
Whats the colour accuracy numbers? About to purchase would really like to know
Not sure about this particular model, but on other reviews it's about 99% if not 100% SRGB high 70's for Adobe and DCP-I but don't quote me.

Is the "graphics switcher" a mux switch? It needs restart to apply, correct?
yes
@@TheDigitalDigest Thanks for the quick reply, also one more question, is the keyboard loud?
Is this better than the asus rog g17 with rtx 3070 and ryzen 9?
Performance is nearly the same. I would pick the one you prefer. I personally prefer the HP.
I am more of a gamer, I just use MS word, UA-cam, and Netflix for my laptop needs. So I am looking at the i7 RTX 3080 with 32bg RAM configuration. In my country, the Philippines all laptops are exorbitantly marked up by at least 1k USD. So the i7 3080 version is around 3.6k usd which is relatively cheap because the MSI GE76 3080 is around 4k usd. I might get the Omen 17.
hey how are you? which one did you get and how much did you get it for?
@@janetheobscure3426 around 3k usd shipping included i was able to get an 0men 27 i7 3080. It's very powerful.
do u have any issues with touch pad like being laggy ?
:(
Hey. Thank you for your review. I am looking to get this laptop as a desktop replacement. Does this laptop have a battery limiter? Can I set it to, say, 80% so that it does not overcharge if I keep it plugged in? Thanks
The laptop purposely discharges when plugged in doing heavy duty tasks, but to 50% and then charges up when done
@@huskysharky9025 really? Thats nice. Thanks for the reply :)
Does it have g-sync or will it with any software update or something??
it doesn't
@@TheDigitalDigest The previous version of OMEN 17 (2020) had g-sync although it did not put it in its specifications either, not at least in a model that I bought and returned for other reasons. So should I wait for a next model to get g-sync? or is there any other OMEN 17 2021 that does?
I have read that the qhd model supports g-sync. I believe ho even issued a statement that it did ??
Could you please do a comparison to the Maingear Vector Pro as I'm considering both thank you
I already compared them in another video.
TheDigitalDigest I have this same laptop.. When I go into cpuz It does not show 1600mhz for 3200mhz.. Mine is showing 1330. Can you please check this on yours?
I will
@@TheDigitalDigest What are your findings?
This comment might be late, but I'm wondering if you opened it up to ensure both ram slots are seated properly. It can happen where only 1 is seated and I didn't see you open it up in the unboxing video. So just check that to make sure.
?
@@TheDigitalDigest you said you only got 16Gbs but you were sure you selected 32Gbs, so maybe when HP was assembling the laptop, they didn't put in one of the RAM modules properly so it's not being recognized by windows. So I'm saying to open it up just to make sure that's not the issue.
take a look at my teardown video...HP didn't do anything accidentally. My rep simply didn't order it with 32gb.
Hey DD,

This is on sale for 1.2k I am so tempted but I just bought a 2070 laptop in march :(
Where?
"I think they could have squeezed a numeric pad on there, but I don't think many gamers care about that".
And that makes me angry. :)
I'm a professional user who does 3D content creation but does not want to spend $6000 on a PC.
Where's my laptop?

this is the OMEN 17
that fan noise
it is on sale now for $1249 if you have discount code
Where, Whats the code
I can get a 11800/3080 model for $1650, which is insane since it's a max P. I have a legion 5 17 with the 5800h/3070, but I like the idea of the 3080. But you keep referring to it as a desktop replacement, I don't consider my legion a desktop replacement, especially when I can use usb c chargers. I had the older 17t with the 10750h/2080S and that thing was a behemoth, that same monstrous power supply as well. Hard to argue with the value, but as much as I do travel, I think I'm sticking with the legion. I wish lenovo had made a 7 17 though.
