She took after her papa, and she loved him so, she was the spare and her sister was the heir. She didn't feel wanted by her own family, it was tragic when her father didn't want the job as King due to his crazy brother Edward. Those girls could have grown up to marry who they chose, perhaps the father wouldn't have been smoking so bad, that may have eventually taken his life, plus the stress from the war. Margaret and Lord Snowdon both weren't meant for each other. Now look at the family today, broken marriages, now the spare (or once the spare) to the throne is going to marry an American divorcee. How time changes. There's always someone or something to break ones heart. Margaret's life was on edge, but she certainly was the most pretty princess in that family.

She was very beautiful back when, but I think all the joy in her life left her when she couldn't have Peter and she never really recovered. She was too rebellious and hard-living in life, as well. That ages you badly.

I don't think Princess Margaret was more beautiful than the Queen. They both were beautiful and the Queen definitely aged better and has lived much longer than Princess Margaret. The Queen has a much more beautiful smile than Princess Margaret. When the Queen smiles, her whole face lights up, even now.

I like her more than the queen because she is attractive and elegant and so do her children. Sad that she was not born first because if she had, the British royal family would have been the most glamorous which is the goal.

I remember Prince Charles saying at the time of Princess Margaret's death how his aunt would sit playing the piano while smoking a cigarette and there would be a glass of whiskey on the piano. I also read somewhere that when King Edward abdicated for Mrs. Simpson and Prince George then became King with Elizabeth next in line to be Queen, that Margaret said to Elizabeth something like, "Oh, what a bore for you". The sisters Elizabeth and Margaret make me think of the sisters Jacqueline and Lee Bouvier.
