fun fact, a lot of Nicki's verses at this time were very subtle shots at lil kim. this collab with keyshia itself was a diss, a way to diss her just by being on songs with Kim's peers that she's either been close to or made songs with. keyshia's hit "let it go" with missy & kim in this case. the cadence when she says " you a mutt tell her quack quack she a mf duck duck GOOSE" then the empasis on SPOOF & ROOF etc was her making fun of kim's verse on "let it go" then obviously her saying she took her spot as the queen. Not to mention the part she is making fun of, is Kim’s full verse that was cut off for the radio version so not many people even know about it. Nicki would taunt her with every verse in some silly way but when kim would speak on it everyone thought she was just old & bitter lol idk if you've reacted to her verse on Hello Good Morning with diddy but she was dissing kim there as well by mentioning kim's longtime friend Alexander McQueen who self exited just 4 months before. Nicki was ruthless.
I feel like less than subtle shade it was direct shots cause she was bored of Lil Kim demanding her "dues and homage" every interview she did and got only because of Miss Minaj. Nicki paid her dues and kim got bitter. To me this isnt subtle shade, it's just saying "step in front of the mic if you wanna talk at this point".
@ I agree they were directly towards Kim but I only say subtle because I feel like the shots were very sly like I don’t think a lot of people at the time picked up on it even the people who would spend hours making UA-cam videos of everything nicki did to Kim or “copied” from her missed it. Her and Drake do that same thing where they don’t outright call people out at first, they’ll just say slick shit in random features that everyone else may not catch onto but the person it’s meant for will 100% catch it. I think it’s intentional & very calculated
