    We must not forget that with Crushing Weight and Sustained momentum active, every card basic action is actually a move 4 or Attack 4 and potentially some xp's.
    So you could still bring situational cards, and of the situation doesn't show up, you still can attack or move 4

    • @MandatoryQuest
      @MandatoryQuest  3 роки тому +1

      Yep I mentioned that when discussion crushing weight. Certainly makes those actives in particular much more versatile than the ranged ones.

      so unless your current selection on a particular level is really crappy there is no reason to go abck right?

    Geminate's range form has a forced healing support theme to go along with its high range damage build. You might want to pick the melee card when u level up just because your range option is just a team heal or some other cleric ability rather than a damaging range option.
    The drifter on the other hand doesnt have a forced healing sub theme in his range build. There may be some cards that are good for the range build that do come with healing, but its not at the expense of doing damage. it works with either the range build or the support healing build.

    For the Level 7 card Like The Wind, the bottom reads an interesting way. You interpreted the card to be only one persistent ability can have the token moved back one space per ally moved through. I think you can also interpret it as one ally moved through is a token moved back one space on only one persistent ability. Therefor if you moved through 2 allies you could move a token back one space on two different persistent abilities or more the token back two spaces on the same persistent ability. It gives you the option to change which persistent ability you are moving back for each ally. The way it was worded is just specific to say you move back one token space on one ability per ally, rather than one token space on all ability per ally.

    • @MandatoryQuest
      @MandatoryQuest  3 роки тому +1

      There's a comment further up (or down?!?) where we talk about this and a developer chips in. Its mix and match, each ally is a separate instance so you can choose the same or new token to move back. Its extremely powerful to have that level of flexibility I think, so this will be a slam dunk pick card for a lot of builds. I didn't mean to imply it was move back 1 one on all tracks if it came across that way.

    • @stephenchambers6039
      @stephenchambers6039 3 роки тому

      I think in the video you interpreteded only one ability gets its token moved backed for each ally. I believe you suggested the range build wouldn't like this because it has several it wants to move backwards. I'm sure now we both can agree this is a great pick up for the ranged build, allowing all the bonuses to get their token moved back will help tremendously pump out more dps

    Something to be careful about with Against All Odds is not to overextended and hit too many enemies with it. If you hit 6 targets, then Crushing Weight is gone before you can push the token back (and that's at full, it's probably likely that 3ish targets will be too much).

    I think going with a Melee + Ranged hybrid at higher levels would work better. A lot of the end game card choices have a ranged attack top or bottom combined with a melee attack top or bottom. This would also allow you to switch up damage types so you don't burn through your 6 uses of ranged / melee too quickly and let you be useful at all ranges.

    I think against all odds might be interesting for a ranged build to recharge some tokens without spending them. It is definitely a card I would use for a tank build. Ping lots of enemies and recharge those shields or retaliates. If used in combination with crushing weight or shockwave there is always the risk of those cards running out of charges before the recharge effect happens.

    • @MandatoryQuest
      @MandatoryQuest  3 роки тому

      Ideally you want to flip some of those attack modifiers that move them back too I think. Its going to be tricky not burning through charges too quickly, but you do have control over that by repositioning and picking your battles a bit.

    • @hammerspace8866
      @hammerspace8866 3 роки тому

      @@MandatoryQuest doing the attack with advantage and having 4 of those 0 move the character token back cards in your deck might also work. It can allow you to take on some extra targets with the attack. It could be risky, but there is some nice xp rewards if you can pull it off without burning through the charges.

  • @scoobiusmaximus9508
    @scoobiusmaximus9508 2 роки тому

    So I'll be honest, I think that a lot of the pieces are here for this class but it doesn't look like it will come together for me.
    The issue you identified with the tanking cards would also apply for your melee or ranged attacks if they hit multiple targets, you could blow through multiple charges of your attacks with a single card. Fierce Barrage makes you go through Precision Aim charges 2x as quickly.
    I think that melees would have to take a few ranged cards and ranged would have to take a few melee cards just to ensure that they don't lose their persistent effects of choice, specifically ranged in the start might want Sustained Momentum and melees might want Continuous Health so they can attack and get charges back. Going all in on melee attacks or ranged attacks seems like a good way to lose your buff. Also for cards like Sustained Momentum, they use a charge to buff their damage then return it, so they're actually neutral for a melee attacker on the tracker, and I assume that if you use it while Crushing Weight is on its last charge you would still lose Crushing Weight because the charge moves forward before it moves back.

    • @MandatoryQuest
      @MandatoryQuest  2 роки тому

      Yeah Its going to be a character that needs finely tuning and considered play. Not as straight forward as it might first make out. I still think this is going to be one of the stronger characters from the starters, or at least stronger because its less likely to have a 'bad' scenario.

  • @larsscheele9914

    Question on Fortitude: It is a melee attack to which you can "add" 2 range. If you do that, does it make it a "Range 2" attack, because the melee attack did "not have any" range? Or would it be "Range 3", because melee attacks are considered Range 1?

    • @MandatoryQuest
      @MandatoryQuest  3 роки тому

      Melee attacks do not have any range (even though they are technically range 1 they are not considered to have any range value) so it would turn the attack into a ranged 2 attack instead of a melee attack. I agree that its templated a bit weird though, maybe there's a reason for it.

    Wouldn't Fortitude be Range 3 if you decided to use the optional effect? The rule book says a melee attack has a range of 1 so when a range is added to it you add 1 + whatever the added range is. The Blinkblade has a slow ability that adds a range of 1 to its melee attack so it makes it range 2 on that one.

    • @MandatoryQuest
      @MandatoryQuest  Рік тому

      Disarmed just means you can't perform an attack, so yes if an enemy card said move and attack it would still move as if it could perform a melee attack even if it's a ranged attack, but it just wouldn't perform the attack action. This is why disarm is more/less useful than stun in certain spots.

    Considering the average value on going backwards on the track is +2 damage I don't think that +2 damage per long rest is a great use of TWO perks points.

Maybe it is a bit philosophical but if you are long resting either early, by yourself, or while you have an enemy still up it is probably a net loss unless you have a bunch of high value turn sideways. You could also get a only short rest battle goal (which is up there with the easiest ones unlike long rest only which can cause an extremely poor turn or even a scenario loss)
      On top of this sometimes I just short rest early to get the perfect card back which makes it even less likely the whole team will want to sync a long rest again..

      It will be interesting to see if the unlockable characters are all desirable to play. I only found myself going back to a starter in the original GH at the very end, but perhaps as these characters are all a bit more complex you'll find an earlier opportunity to go back.

      A bit meh/basic with mechanics for sure, but low key will be one of the strongest starters IMO.

    Very disappointed with the starter characters. Apart from this one they are all fiddly.
