Over a year ago I was in a rutt. I had transferred to a new college, it was still online because of Covid restrictions, and the assignments were long and monotonous that it felt like I wasn't evolving in my knowledge of art and crafting new ideas. During this time, there was a day where I had 4 hours of nothing to do but homework and it was dead silent. So I searched up Oliver Harper Review Retrospective on UA-cam, as his videos had helped me kill time in High School by learning cool facts about films I love. But then I found your first reviews on Star Trek, you were only up to Part 5 and I marathoned what you had in two days. I would watch every new uploads on the series , and even some of your other stuff. I learned about how Star Trek impacted culture outside of an American lens and how Star Trek is more than just fighting aliens and slow pacing. And with this final video, of you speaking on the first Star Trek film I saw in theaters as a teen, it felt like I had gone full circle. Between late 2020-2022, I went through so many changes, and your videos evolved in a way I loved, that I feel like I am not the same person when I first saw your videos. My college life has been more enjoyable and many personal stuff in my life have improved. I can't say you were the key helper of my life, but you were one of the many building blocks. *So thank you Rowan J Coleman, God bless, God Speed, Live Long, and Prosper*

Best of the Kelvin Timeline. Star Trek Beyond is just loads of fun, the cast all seem effortlessly in the zone by this point with fantastic chemistry, the film is GORGEOUS, and the score is great. Easily the one I go back to the most from the Kelvin films.

Fun fact - for years Leonard Nimoy's voice narrated over the opening sequence in the Mugar Omni Theater at the Boston Museum of Science. It's one of my fond childhood memories and it makes me sad they no longer use that opening sequence. But the fact that he was a Massachusetts native (as did I) is one of those little coincidences that I love.

Of these three Kelvin movies, this is the one that feels the most like the original series
Just character interaction and dialogue alone made it feel like I was watching some Lost episode of TOS

Out of the Kelvin timeline films, Beyond seems the most ‘Trekkie’ of the films. In spite of there being another doomsday weapon mcguffin, that deconstruction of what the Federation means just struck me as the kind of story that Star Trek is supposed to tell.

Dude, excellent work on this whole series. I've been enjoying these for what must be a year already, and the sheer amount of effort and heart you pack into each installment is amazing. Congrats on being able to make this your full time income. It's well deserved. Live long and prosper! 🖖

Thank you for all the time you spent making these for us. I enjoyed every single episode so much. As a lifelong fan, I learned tons of new things I didn't know and was shocked I didn't. Great work thank you again for this gift.

Took a friend to see this who had not watched TOS when it first aired because it had been took too scary at the time (it had been scary for me too, but didn't stop the pre-schooler I was from coming back for more), and she really enjoyed it. One that non-Trekkies should watch.

Thank you so much for this retrospective series. It was very enlightening and well put together. I will look out for your UFO retrospective and think the other Anderson shows would be good subjects too.
I have finished watching S2 of Prodigy and hope they will make more. Hope you enjoyed it too. LLAP🖖

Great work Rowan. It is interesting and perhaps not surprising that you feel such warmth towards this trilogy of movies - given that they were your cinematic introduction to Star Trek. For that same reason, I feel great warmth toward VI and Generations - when I would have been the age you were when you went to the cinema to see these. For me, The Undiscovered Country is the go-to Star Trek movie and it never lets me down - just as Star Trek Beyond has become for you.
