After his retirement, he served as a Corrections Officer for the Knox County Sheriff's Department in my hometown. Sadly, he passed away today. R.I.P., Archie Gouldie AKA Mongolian Stomper.
I give Hulk Hogan major props. Many thought Hogan was only Florida,AWA and WWF and I do remember a comment Bill Watts said about Hogan years ago.He said Hogan wouldn't last 5 minutes in the Mid South. From seeing this Hogan has competed with the very best on all levels..
Never saw or knew Archie Gouldie / Mongolian Stomper growing up (in my territory) but holy hell, I can see exactly why he would have been a huge sell in the day. Great credibility, great sell.
The leg drop was just another move at this point. He hits it perfectly here, but Stomper just rolls out of the ring. Amazing how it rendered his WWF opponents helpless.
The leg drop is nothing without the boot to the face which is nothing without the "Hulk-out". And the Hulk-out is nothing without the prayers and vitamins.
Never saw the Stomper outside of still pictures and very short clips. No wonder why they call him that. Cool throwback to the classic goon character. Gotta look for more of this guy.
The Mongolian Stomper, one of the greatest wrestlers to ever come out of Canada. I have seen interviews with Bret Hart and he put over Archie as the best Canadian wrestler ever. Hart was terrified of him when he was because the threatened to drag his mom out of the Hart house and pile drive her on the highway. Hell, I would have been terrified of the Stomper too.
@yardlet6 Thanks. I'd heard of the riot in a general way, but didn't know the angle that started it off. Hope it's on UA-cam. Stampede was just banned from Calgary by the city commission, though, not all of Alberta. Still, it was a huge loss.
@Inediblehulk Archie "The Stomper" Gouldie was a wrestling God on Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling. he had classic feuds with Abdullah The Butcher and Bad News Brown. too bad he never talked during interviews because he could cut one mean promo!
@Hammerschlägen M brother he was all bullish muscle power, rugged, if you want beautiful tactical wrestling, dont miss bob backlnd , b.bulldogs, haku, from that genre.
@Hammerschlägen M that fucking corona is a man made poison brother, I'll give u an easy trick to ward it off, just mix a little Vicks vapour with boiling water and give it an inhaling for 2 minutes daily. Guaranteed safe guarding..
Hogan was so much more fun to watch before he started relying on his "Big 5 Moves o' Death"...punch, slam, big boot, leg drop...oh, look at that, its actually only 4 moves. I liked his older work & his work in Japan.
He was not “Mongolian” in Calgary. If he were to cut promos it would kill the gimmick. Plus he was so effective standing there grimacing and flexing while his manager did the talking.
Have met Hogan when he was first coming up and recently. I'm 6'6" tall and was noticeably taller than Hogan both times. Hogan is, at best 6'4" tall and 270 lbs.
@@douglasrose6660 - Andre was billed at over 7' tall, yet athletes that had their pics taken with him and published, that were 6'11" were noticeably taller. I've never lost a fight. The Rock is 6'5" tall; I've met him and am taller at 6'6". When you fight, do you put the purse down first?
Its too bad that we cant see he matches where Stomper put on the cowboy boots and crushed his opponents head into a bloody pulp... saw it every week in the VIC..
stomper beat brett before 12000 in vancouver-doub. juice chain match-1983. and that was midcard. stomper eliminated himself first in the subsequent battle royal that same night so bruce and keith hart wouldnt kill him. and neidhart. main event was bockwinkel vs, david scultz stopped at 28 min. due to excessive bleeding by david.
@Inediblehulk He talked in Calgary after he turn face after Bad News beat up him and his son. Very intense interview. Of course the Alberta Atheltic commission thought the beat down and threatining of an old man by Bad News was too much so they banned Hart from running shows in Alberta which cost him dearly. They had to run in Indian reservations and the feud petered out.
look not to say mcmahon ruined hogan because look what happened but there was a lot more to hogan when he was a leaner brute than a jacked up inflexible behemoth. I prefer this version of hogan (quicker, agile, etc) but of course he wouldn't have been the LEGEND he is with Vince and Hulk Hogan gimmick
I kept saying these ads for auto insurance so I checked it out it really sucks it's a bunch of bull crap I have lower rates with the company I have now than they could ever offer
Wow look at the difference of Hulk Hogan's wrestling compared to when he hit the WWF during a WrestleMania time and all that in the cartoon wrestling he could really wrestle then huh
a bear hug is as close to a wrestling move ,either opponent got,in the entire match. I guess the downfall of pro wrestling can trace its roots to matches like these.
gongal Let me put some wrestling moves on you and show you that it's not fake,i wrestled in school i'll put some holds on you that'll have you screaming for mommy.
After his retirement, he served as a Corrections Officer for the Knox County Sheriff's Department in my hometown. Sadly, he passed away today. R.I.P., Archie Gouldie AKA Mongolian Stomper.
Good to hear he was a brother Corrections Officer.
@albert speer-bear corrections officers arent pigs
😢😢😢
I would sure do whatever he told me to do.
If you could make it in Memphis wrestling. You can make it anywhere. I respect Hulk Hogan even more.
It's THUNDERLIPS in the flesh baby!!

The leg drop is nothing without the boot to the face which is nothing without the "Hulk-out". And the Hulk-out is nothing without the prayers and vitamins.
According to several magazines, Gouldie maintained his shape by riding his bicycle almost everywhere he went, sometimes riding up to 60 miles a day.
I like this kind of wrestling. I don't like anything after the `1980's.
They had an anticipatory story-line that built up the matches. Today's product totally sucks!!
mid -late 90s too
I do because beautiful women were on after so that's that
90s wrestling with the nwo was pinnacle, never be that good again
Never saw the Stomper outside of still pictures and very short clips. No wonder why they call him that. Cool throwback to the classic goon character. Gotta look for more of this guy.
Hulk hogan has shined thru every Era of wrestling he's a legend and will always 💙 be one
Does anyone remember one of the Hulk's finihing moves, the Super Southern Squeeze?
@ScyberPsylock just watched a promo of his where he called it the super southern squeeze
1,000 dollars to break the super southern squeeze, daddy!
The Guy at the end 5:30 sounds like Chris Farly on a crazy rant🤣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hogan doesn't look as big as he later became. He also moves faster and, has a more aggressive style.
Heel Hogan in his Prime was Awesome!!
He was more cut then...later he got roid thick
To be fair, this was 42 years ago.
Dude was 28 at the time 💪💪💪💪💪
Manager appears to be Gorgeous George Jr.
Who knew that Terry Bollea would become the greatest superstar in sports entertainment/ pro wrestling history?
And then give it away and drop dime on his fellow wrestlers? Yeah, that's a real great guy.
I read that in his book and Bret and I talked about that. We both had a good laugh.
@KittColby This takes place during Hogan's run in the NWA southern territories ie. Memphis/CWA, Southeastern, Gulf Coast & Georgia.
Believe it or not.the hulk was a site to behold as a young man.not the greatest mat wrestler but truly one of the all time great performers.
You notice they refer to the Stomper as the "Eight Wonder" a few times? that was Andre's nickname
+Sean Rankin ... They used that for several other wrestlers, including Pampero Firpo.
great times back in Memphis wrestling and all of tn.great momeriers
man hogan did so much wrestling in this match that he did in all his yrs in wwf. lol
Stomper was a mean looking dude when I saw him wrestle in Georgia! I used to think NOBODY could defeat him!
That crowd is amazingly hot.
Best days of wrestling r no more😢😊
Archie (Stomper) Goldy was one the best heals. Some awesome runs in Calgray. Bad News Allen, and a young Bret Hart.
I remember way before this, The Stomper had a short feud with Andre on Georgia Championship Wrestling.
I am surprised the Hogan leg drop did not induce cardiac arrest like later years.
Turnbuckles have alot more padding now..lol
Hogan declared insane before the big money got in the way. This was excellent.
Weird, they refer to him as Hulk AND Terry Boulder during the match.
@yardlet6 Thanks. I'd heard of the riot in a general way, but didn't know the angle that started it off. Hope it's on UA-cam. Stampede was just banned from Calgary by the city commission, though, not all of Alberta. Still, it was a huge loss.
Wow! That's awesome. Stomper and Ernie Ladd are my favorite wrestlers from back then.
Yep the good old days
@Inediblehulk Archie "The Stomper" Gouldie was a wrestling God on Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling. he had classic feuds with Abdullah The Butcher and Bad News Brown. too bad he never talked during interviews because he could cut one mean promo!
43 years later, HH’s ring style never changed.
wait - just like every other wrestler
@MrManFly If he didn't talk, how do you know he did it well? Did you know him outside the ring? Or do you mean he just didn't talk in Calgary?
Hogan had not yet perfected the leg drop here.
There was nothing perfect or imperfect about that lousy ass drop
@Hammerschlägen M brother he was all bullish muscle power, rugged, if you want beautiful tactical wrestling, dont miss bob backlnd , b.bulldogs, haku, from that genre.
@Hammerschlägen M u r a lucky guy.
@Hammerschlägen M that fucking corona is a man made poison brother, I'll give u an easy trick to ward it off, just mix a little Vicks vapour with boiling water and give it an inhaling for 2 minutes daily. Guaranteed safe guarding..
@Hammerschlägen M gimme ur contact, I promise not to bore you.
Am I seeing right? Hogan has a full head of hair??
Josh Josh hair club for men
This was before mister t sneezed backstage
pre steriod side effects

@@willnchicago696 I know he didn't do the Mongolian gimmick in Calgary. My thought was he could have made the regular Stomper gimmick work in the US
Who is Stompers manager?
KAIJUG Gorgeous George,Jr.
Was there more than one Mongolian Stomper? The guy that was in Mid-South called the Mongolian Stomper was not this guy.
Have met Hogan when he was first coming up and recently. I'm 6'6" tall and was noticeably taller than Hogan both times. Hogan is, at best 6'4" tall and 270 lbs.
Bullshit,he was6'6
Fucking pussies like you,I bet you never been in a fight
The rock is 6'6 andhe had a in h on him
I bet Andre was only 6'8

lonehorseman09 loved Stampede Wrestling Gouldie vs Bad News was such a good feud
jacksabbath2007 amen bro.
It's cool swing Hogan so agile.
@DaveInOCNJ He was. He was an awesome heel and he was terrifying.
Thunder Lips the early years.
he hadnt quite honed his devastating leg drop yet here
Damn, Hogan was actually not bad here, what happened when he got to the WWF?
McMahon likes big immovable men, had him no sell to smaller guys. They did the same with Andre, that guy could move
100%👍
Yep, big show was super agile when he came on the scene in wcw. WWF slowed him down big time
I miss old school there's no real emotion anymore just cookie cutter stories
I was cheering for the stomper.
The hamburger king lol

Archie the stomper gouldie
Wow look at the difference of Hulk Hogan's wrestling compared to when he hit the WWF during a WrestleMania time and all that in the cartoon wrestling he could really wrestle then huh
Ban the leg drop!!!
They`re stiffing the FUCK out of each other.
I don't believe this is Hulk. Everyone knows, brother, that he suffered from male pattern baldness throughout the _entirety_ of his life.
Hot bearhug 4:36
@DaveInOCNJ
Don't forget the dreaded, the deadly, the heinously anusly:
"Fingerpoke of Doom"
God help us all
@kenkessler550f
I'm not gay or anything, but he had a unique beautiful mane of blonde hair that flowed in the the same direction. He was quite a site.

Wow people still believe it is real? :d

gongal No... Do you believe that Star Wars is real?
gongal maybe not real but it fucking definitely was more entertaining back then and we got to see more blood.
hey ellis its eli i see this channel is yours i tried contacting you on Facebook
