I saw this thing on someone's web link it cost 59.99 is it that price everywhere...if so I'm not buying I would pay the original 39.99 gladly though...
one little fact that he "forgot" to mention - you need a MODERN flat screen TV for this thing to work !! ... it wont connect to a CRT-TV .. (a television set from the 90s) (they had tri-color connections)
The biggest issue with the NES was the controller lag. My SNES does not have any issues with that. I think overall the emulation on the SNES mini is far better. Is the 2018 NES better with the input lag? Punchout is almost unplayable on after a point on the 2016 version.
I got an NES Classic during both releases, and they both have identical prints on the boxes. But the first one I bought was the final shipment that Best Buy got (if you call 6 consoles a shipment). So it' possible that by that time, the packaging was already changed.
There is one major difference on the inside. The 2018 version uses the same board as the SNES classic which is 512mb of ram and the older 2016 version uses 256mb of ram (they both have the same storage rom chip).
I doubt there will be a collectibility difference between the two because of the tons and tons that were produced and are sitting unused on people’s shelves... but it’s nice to see the differences at a glance. I would have been curious to see if there were any chip, firmware or any other internal revisions. My guess is that of the power supplies power ratings were that much different that there was.
Mike Jones Nintendo is working retailers F&R algorithms (forecasting and replenishment). If they order 7 and they sell out in a week, they will order 8, then 12, then 20, then 50.... then the retailer gets stuck with them.... but Nintendo already made their money.
These irrelevant differences will be used as an excuse to scalp the first run of the mini NES even more. I hope nobody is willing to pay a premium because of the placement of a logo!
Amerigo Costa lol exactly. I mean the newer ones have a power brick that has Nintendo's logo on it where the first version didn't... So eventually will the power bricks with Nintendo on em be worth more?
Oh please - let's not try to make a mountain out of a molehill, shall we? It's actually refreshing to have awalked into a Target yesterday to see the case filled with about 4-5 NES-SNES Classic consoles (each), not to mention a half dozen extra NES Classic controllers.
1st print run here, pre-ordered online from Target, mid-August 2016. Surprised they didn't include the 300 platinum point voucher in the re-release. Kind of crappy, but it's not like there's really anything worthwhile on the My Nintendo program anyway. Wallpapers and "Discounts"..... lol.
Interesting differences, but not a big crisis. I actually like the newer power brick too with the Nintendo logo. Although a warning that it does scratch easily sadly. I need to get that newer case sometime, so when I take my classic to a friend's house. It will be more protected and displayed better. Otherwise I just have it hooked up to my living room 32" flat screen TV and the box is displayed with my other retro consoles setup.
Does anybody know if the 2018 edition has the same filters options than the 2016? I heard that 2018 edition has the same motherboard than the SNES Classic, and the SNES doesn't have the NES filters.
Country Cledus Hell yea, Finally stumbled on 1 left they had at best buy last week. Was able to grab my SNES classic at Gamestop a few months back as well. Was the last one they had left in store too. Got my SNES modded, Has like 700 games now. Was worth the $50 extra i paid. Highly recommend doing it if u can. Have fun today.
I was trying some cheat codes for kid icarus and it doesn't work for the second version. For example the code PAKING PAKING PAKING PAKING supposed to give every item but it doesn't work. .But some websites claimed those codes work. The articles are typically from 2017 and 2016. Anyone noticed this? Are the roms the same or different? google nes classic cheat codes. I would like to know what is going on. I triple checked if I was inputting the codes.
This is a extreamly late response lol but I figured out the problem so apparently kid icarus on the NES classic is actually the virtual console version which nintendo removed the cheat codes for what ever reason and they ported the same virtual console version to the NES classic and is why they dont work.
Who cares I remember when games came out before NES even though I love Nintendo and Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis it's hard to get them kind of game these days I had all original but lost it all so put that s*** in stores never run out you think I will make games just a couple if I was a game designer I will make more the more games you make the more money you make bring all that s*** back and stop selling only a few copies
Personally having an ESRB rating on the front make it more "official" to me. As apposed to a clone console which would probably not have such trusted affiliates
There should be a ban on people who make videos twice as long as they need to be. Just repeated the same thing like 3 times...i just wasted an extra 5 min to watch u touch stuff on the screen. Provide relevant info after the first 2 min, or stop recording. Jeez.
Because we probably sat here thinking something would be different other than a cardboard box and a wall charger. And then wasted 8 minutes of Our Lives over a useless suggestion.

dont buy from amazon. there are way too many fakes and they are overpriced. Gamestop is cheaper plus free shipping.
I saw this thing on someone's web link it cost 59.99 is it that price everywhere...if so I'm not buying I would pay the original 39.99 gladly though...
But which is better the 2016 version or the 2018 version?
In Europe we got screwed. No power brick and no poster.
As always. Nintendo STILL treats the European market like 3rd world.... And yet we have to pay the same or often even more than anyone else.
The only highlight is it has more MB storage if you want to hack it :')
Patton's NES (video on youtube) had 203 MB, while mine had 340 MB
one little fact that he "forgot" to mention - you need a MODERN flat screen TV for this thing to work !! ... it wont connect to a CRT-TV .. (a television set from the 90s) (they had tri-color connections)
The motherboards are different. 2018 version uses the same motherboard as the SNES Classic Edition.
The biggest issue with the NES was the controller lag. My SNES does not have any issues with that. I think overall the emulation on the SNES mini is far better. Is the 2018 NES better with the input lag? Punchout is almost unplayable on after a point on the 2016 version.
That explains why I hacked my NES Mini and put SNES games on it and they worked flawlessly!
I got an NES Classic during both releases, and they both have identical prints on the boxes. But the first one I bought was the final shipment that Best Buy got (if you call 6 consoles a shipment). So it' possible that by that time, the packaging was already changed.

If it wasn't such a hot item no one would be making such a big deal about these differences.
The version of the box that i purchased in 2017 looks just like the most recent version.
Daniel B yep thats kind of my point here lol. There is no 2018 version differences its from the later shipments back then.
keep up the great work.
2018 box look like the ink has a touch more red in it...blue is more purply and text is more gold looking than 2016 box
The rating is missing on the box at the right

Like Swole Calibur said. We in europe got a different box. Also no power adapter and poster.
Of course, that's a life changer to some people lol!
By a mile the NES Classic Edition letter coloring is the biggest difference with the box. In the end the blue coloring is what gets pointed out lol
Oh please - let's not try to make a mountain out of a molehill, shall we? It's actually refreshing to have awalked into a Target yesterday to see the case filled with about 4-5 NES-SNES Classic consoles (each), not to mention a half dozen extra NES Classic controllers.
I just bought one on Amazon Canada and its the first run version one in this video

surprised they didnt change any of the copy protection on it

I got the rerelease and the uk versions. The uk one doesn’t have a power cord.
Weird mine didn’t come with a power brick or usb cable same with the snes classic
only way i know the difference is by the placement of the nintendo seal on the box
I finally got mine today..................@ Target............. 🖕 Walmart
Country Cledus Hell yea, Finally stumbled on 1 left they had at best buy last week. Was able to grab my SNES classic at Gamestop a few months back as well. Dank games Nice i wish i knew how to do that. I just had dude at my local retro gaming store mod it for me.
Dank games I have noticed the emulation of extra games on my sfc mini is less than desirable some times.
I have the 2018 version of nes classic they use the same snes classic
The european box is way different.
Sweet Rammstein tat.
the differences started right after the first role out...old news...and its been covered by many other youtubers already

@@Pepsiaddict125 Thanks man!I I forgot I had that problem with that game. It makes sense!
Off topic but I am seeing those hashtags now on this video from Chrome.
Both of mine are the 2018 versions.
Good find
NES classic edition classic edition
You can hack both and that is 👍
Is it harder to hack the 2018 version?
No not at all. I had no trouble hacking mine. I got it first day release this year on June 30th.
Nintendo didn't change any security features in the reissue.
Do we really need yet another device to put illegal roms on? Nope.
Arkham Legend no actually pretty easy. Look on UA-cam takes 10 min

Nintendo is closing retro roms pages like emuparadise or loveroms. Dont buy these machines.

Why UA-cam recommend this useless video???
More importantly, why did you feel the need to comment about it?
Because we probably sat here thinking something would be different other than a cardboard box and a wall charger. And then wasted 8 minutes of Our Lives over a useless suggestion.
What....a...giant...waste... of....time
CK One Thanks for watching!
😂👌
Thats so lame why would you buy a system where you can only play 30 games ? Lmao
What's really lame is you knowing what the product is by the title and coming here for the sole reason to make a snide childish remark. Pathetic.
Oh wow the cardboard box really is different. Thanks for the useless suggestion UA-cam.
