I think he and Don Johnson are both very underrated because they are both so good looking. It takes a few minutes to realize that Tubbs quitting is all a fake
As this episode shows Miami Vice was not all pastels & bright colours. (Even that was part of the show's layout) it did tell some dark and gritty stories which some critics gloss over when talking about this show. Here PMT's Tubbs gets to take centre stage for a change - which sees him dealing with some serious issues.
“Oh, I’ll do you one better. I rather play the lottery in New York City, than Russian roulette in Miami. I quit.” The first time when Ricardo Tubbs was bringing out his inner Lance Vance persona out of him in this episode. Great acting by Philip Michael Thomas.
One of the best episodes with an extraordinary intelligent story. I like season 3 because of the "dirty" stories and the serious action. But this episode was the peak of the series. Afterwards, there were many very good episodes, especially my favourite "Death and the Lady". But all in all, Miami Vice started to end from this episode on. The whole idea of Miami Vice was packed into that episode. There is really no possibility to make any episode better than that.
One of my absolute favorite Season 3 episodes. Season 3 overall was a fantastic season and really the end of an era because the show never felt the same after that season when Michael Mann and Jan Hammer were phased out.
Crockett did a great job trying to get Tubbs to settle down. I love how calm Castillo is and how he tells Tubbs to go home and get cleaned up. Crockett definitely knows that something's up with Tubbs because he's not used to seeing him act this way.
At what point in this episode did Tubbs and Castillo decide that he go undercover? Was it before this scene (in which case this scene was part of the ruse) ? Or was it later?
Castillo: Crockett, in view of the fact that Tubbs has resigned, I present to you your new partner ... the CPU of planetune Neptune Neptune: Hi Crockett ... hmmm, I don't like that name. How about I call you Cro Cro? (Crockett looks at Neptune in disgust and surprise) Sonny: Lieutenant, I think we should talk to Tubbs and try to convince him to go back to the unit. Neptune: oh come on Cro Cro, don't be so bitter and let's catch that baddie Calderone Sonny (annoyed): Calderone is dead, we killed him in the Bahamas years ago Neptune (closing her eyes and smiling): See? I told you we would catch it! we are a good team! Sonny (exasperated): Lieutenant! Castillo (looking at him): We have a record that a high-profile trafficker is in Miami, they have to watch him and ... Neptune (smiling and saluting): Say no more Lieutenant, to action, let's go Cro Cro Sonny and Neptune approach the dealer who has an army of mercenaries at his side. Sonny (with a pleasant smile): well, I'm glad to meet you in person, I'm Sonny Burnett and she's my friend ... Neptune: Nep Nep Sonny (staying silent for a few minutes): and we were thinking of buying the product from him, they say it is 100% pure ... Neptune (indignant): hey wait a minute! your name is not Burnett but Crockett and we were supposed to arrest him, not buy his product. Crockett (covering his face with his right hand): why don't you shut your mouth, damn it Drug dealer (yelling at his men): kill them! Crockett takes cover and draws his gun from him while Neptune transforms into a sexy woman and everyone falls into an awkward silence that lasts for a few minutes. Trafficker (feeling uncomfortable and throwing the gun): nope (raises his hands and surrenders next to his accomplices) the police take away the arrested traffickers as Crockett approaches Neptune Sonny: well, who would say, in the end you were talented, maybe we should have a temporary work alliance Neptune: who doesn't love Happy endings huh Cro Cro? Pikachu appears next to Crokett Pikachu: Pika chuuu Sonny: and what do you say Pikachu Did you ever think about working as a cop in the south? Pikachu: Pika pika! all three laugh while the credits are read. Trudy wakes up screaming from the nightmare she just had Trudy (gasping): Damn! I knew getting on that yacht full of aliens was a bad idea XD

It's difficult to watch any old or new police series or movies. Too many times police turned out to be corrupted in charge of safety of the criminals against the victims.
💋👄💋👄💋👄Philip Michael Thomas was the most beautiful man on television. Pairing PMT to Don Johnson were the two most handsome men starring in a television show ever created til this day. Both of equal stature. 🔥This Channel is NOT highlighting Ricardo Tubbs as much as should be
-Message to Vin Diesel, the new producer of the future TV show "Miami Vice" that he wants to remake; Can you PLEEEAAASE Jesse Johnson, Don Johnson's son, as an actor for the character Sonny Crockett (like his father in the 1980's), because he is an excellent actor (he knows how to render, like his father, the emotional, physical and introspective side of the characters he plays), and also, because he looks so much like his father, that for "Miami Vice", it would be the most judicious and intelligent choice for this new series.
Easily the best show of the decade. Music, fashion, cinematography, coolest cars, guns, and locations, this show has it all!

Meanwhile, watching at home, J. G. Wentworth had a wonderful idea.

That was awesome
Think we all feel that way today
J.G Wentworth. It's my money and I want it now. That's how their comical got so popular 😅
Ricardo Tubbs is one of the best characters in TV history 😎
One of the most underdeveloped characters in TV history.
absolutely ... nobody better !!!
He is up there, but Lt. Castillo with his cool quiet demeanor make him tops...
@@jeffreybanks0519 Definitely. Castillo was THE best MV character IMO. 😎
He's not better than Mr T as BA
Haven't we all daydreamed of quitting with such finesse?

That’s a real problem today. Not enough respect for Phillip Michael Thomas. Thanks for bringing awareness to such a pressing issue.
One of my fave episodes, with an unforgettable song from Alan Parsons to close out the finale. Magnificent!
Miami vice for life ❤

I do like that bright green shirt Don's wearing at the beginning.
Edward James Olmos plays Martin Castillo brilliant

me too! LOL!
The only person who knew was Castillo. Even Sonny didn't know.

It's his money, and he wants it NOOOW!

Red Tape.... one of the best episodes. 👌
Thats my fav tv series in 80s in my country phillipines, since start then until gone in tv.
We’ve all had bad days.
Second half of season 3, when the producers brought back the series trademark pastels quick fast when the ratings plummeted...
The music in the last half was originally heard in season one’s “Evan” 😎
When this came out, I was so in love with both Tubbs and Chavez Y Chavez from Young Guns. One of my absolute favorite 80s episodes of all time.
I remember this one to well! How many ppl felt same way when leaving a bad job oh yeah👍‼️

They lost the plot in season three. The stupid haircut, the short jackets; the show became distracted by its own press.
