I plan on doing this with my old snowmobile trailer. My 26' camper behind my 3/4 ton only gets about 7-10 mpg and is very limited on where it can fit. I'm glad I found this video. My idea is to "down upgrade" to my 8x10 with a tent that fits its deck space exactly and still be able to bring the kayaks, bicycles, coolers and anything else in an under 1800# extremely low profile package behind the Cherokee instead. Even the tires wearing at $110 a pair versus $480 for 4 sounds better lol not to mention the 15mpg with a smaller rig. I do greatly enjoy tents and I think this would be a great middle-of-the-road, I went big and regret it campers aren't really my thing I come to find. In Wyoming we have a lot of places that it is hard to get to with a vehicle alone and a roof-tent is bout out of the budget and not feasible with the little guys and pups.
Great start too a new series of video's Joe. For camping at night and the trailer being a dark color some high viss tape on parts of the trailer might be a good idea.
Good Morning Rick and Thank You . Being able to use the UTV trailer for a mobile camp does make trail camping simple and and easy to set up . Hunting season is right around the corner and though we cant carry everything it is nice to multi purpose as much as possible , the tent I am using has high viss on 4 corners and easy to find when light hits it . Thanks for the Comment and Thanks for Watching .
I have a 5.5 x 10' trailer from Northern Tools. I also have many tents from cabin size to little backpacking size. This idea occurred to me as I was contemplating whether to save for a travel trailer. I have a '94 G10 Chevy van with a 100 watt solar panel hooked to 3 55ah deep cycle batteries.. led lights, tv and Bumpboxx sound system (in case of rough weather / security).. but I can't pull both simultaneously so I'm thinking to "camp" on trailer seems more logical.. thanks for the video!
Wow awesome idea! I’ve been looking at camping trailers,, jumping jack, sylvan sport pro and they are expensive. Especially since like you said I have my awesome instant tent and accessories. All I need is the trailer. I was looking at the trailers because I wanted to take my etrike. I tend to pack a lot so a trailer would give me more room in my SUV for people! Thx again. Any ideas for solar generators , water ect?
Thank you, it sounds like you are getting ready for some time outdoors 👍👍as for solar accessories you can find anything that you need now days. Have fun on the trail and Thanks for Watching
I have a truck tent and sometimes I need the truck. Do you think I could put and secure a truck tent on Utility Trailer so I can use my truck on public roads and highways?
