I have just found Michael Fremer andAnalog Planet , great videos. I have just got back into hifi after 30 years ( I’m 74 years old). I dug out my Linn system ( LP12, LK1, LK280 ) with modern Dali speakers, it sounds great. Long Live Vinyl !! Regards Richard Herbert
I've learned a lot from watching and listening to Michael. I bought a turntable it 2015, and with Michael's advice and wisdom via Analog Planet & Analog Planet on UA-cam, was able to start finding the best pressings while maintaining a budget and my sanity. He has a happy vibe and that makes his presentations fun and informative.
Fremer, you are an ace!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and making it fun. My Dad and uncle were jazz junkies, each with 1500 +/- LP's, so you are like an old friend. You are costing me a bundle with all of your suggestions, but that's okay. Best, Bill.
Interesting guy! What a collection of music and gear. I've never heard true HiFi but my Marantz sounds good to me. Thanks for the time and peak into your world.
I like that pic of old hifi stuff (1:58). I see a Tandberg 65 playback only reel to reel and a Tandberg 64 reel to reel recorder which I have and a Marantz 7 preamp and 10B tuner which I have but can't make out the turntable.
I’m pretty tired of snake oil this and snake oil that too. Just as Michael said, even though I can’t afford some of the gear (yet!), does not mean I don’t wanna learn everything about it. I just love HiFi and vinyl so deeply. It brings me such true joy and happiness as well as a break from this crazy world. I thank you, Ken, as well as Michael for sharing your knowledge and passion.
Part of learning about HiFi and audio equipment is learning what does and doesn't make an audible difference in a system. About how things actually work and the limits of our sensorial perceptions are fundamental knowledge from which people can really benefit.
5:50 I'm so happy to see this. Of all my dad's records this one has by far gotten the most play. It's just so easy to listen to. Only record my 4 year old daughter will not complain and make me change :) It's been our quarantine soundtrack. Funny thing is, even though it's an orange color UK copy (Allegro I think?) it's still one of the best "sounding" records in my whole collection. I just love, love, love this record.
Micheal sure wish we were together. My Casta Horn B speakers are now $22,000 , Dual 1229 turntable Grace F-9 U Cartridge Graham Slee Reflex with external power supply Audiozen Alchemy hybrid Tube amp . I am a lunch pale guy retired and just love my setup. 73 now and still collect vinyl. My mind is closed to $10’s of thousand of dollars to to buy audio gear . Only the 2% can buy what you have. I worry about 100 of thousand America hungry tonight
You're the best Michael. I'm curious what you think of the lost Ella in Germany. I preordered it but was not happy when I got it. It doesn't sound bad but it was digitized. They discovered unheard analog tapes and instead of releasing it in it's purest form they digitized and remixed it! What do you think?
Tell me your age without telling me your age... "I print things out so I don't have to go on line and I listen to vinyl!". 🙂 I'm with you at every step except printing things out.
The more I see MF, the more I appreciate him. He‘s a great storyteller. I love his sense of humor and the fact that he can‘t help but to take piss out of himself.
I have a Wonderful Friend! and he does/says that: "Snake Oil Thing!" What he fails to understand is High End Audio is very much Like Exotic Sport Cars! I may not be able to afford them, But i most certainly trickle down some of the design factors that make them Sing! into my Car or Audio System!
Are you talking about what used to be called High Fidelity? Or are you intentionally, like it seems to be fashionable today, putting aside The Word two...?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candid_Records "Candid Records is a record label specialising in jazz, now based in the United Kingdom. It was founded in New York City in 1960 as a subsidiary of Cadence Records, owned by Archie Bleyer. Jazz writer and civil rights activist Nat Hentoff was the label's (A&R) director and, he attempted to create a catalog that represented jazz of the day. He also worked with designer and photographer Frank Gauna to create many album covers. Candid's catalogue included Don Ellis, Abbey Lincoln, Booker Little, Charles Mingus, and Cecil Taylor. Later the label was bought by pop singer Andy Williams, who reissued some of the catalogue on his Barnaby label in the 1970s."
Don't understand why classical folks went wholesale hog for digital, and never returned. I love classical vinyl spinning on my Kuzma Stabi R. And own not one classical CD. Vinyl Inconvenient? How so? It doesn't crack apart and jab your feet. It doesn't disintegrate after 20 years. And it has superior artwork (well, CD has no artwork), and superior sound IMO. And the best, thing, classical vinyl can be had cheap cause most classical connoisseurs only play digitaL. GOOD
I don't know why I'm asking this here, but can someone, including you,Mr. Fremer answer why the hell "Sunny Side Up" by Gillespie, Rollins and Stitt wasn't to this day reissuied since 1986 (the last reissiue) - WHY? This is one of the best Jazz Records of all time!!!

Michael , you tell a story like no one can ! So engaging and colourful , unscripted and innate. Well done.

Great stuff!! Fascinating and can’t wait for part 2.

Thanks very much Ken for that lovely insight into the music and lives of people around it! Great watch, can't wait for part 2!
That Mingus record! Blows. My. Mind.
Excellent - I like the way Michael was patient, did his research until he could start to upgrade his systems.
Hi Mike! Just heard you on PS’s Paul’s program. I subscribed.
Really great record recommendations.
Michael Could you tell me please what that jazz track in the background at 2:35 is please it only lasts a few minutes
love your site
a very nice music lesson! Cheers!
Thanks Ken looks like you guys are having a great time.
Whoa wait... What's the line up in the back ground music while you were presenting the records? Intriguing!
Great video
Yes Bell Sounds have an Lp by Norman Connors - Dance Of Magic on buddah label sounds amazing !
back in the fifties the quality of American vinyl was several times better than it was in the 70's
Mr Micallef, please, the background music, who is it? ❤️
Nightcap by Mortis

Why is the video so damn dark?
Ha! This video really comes in hot! 😎 Love the story about Satchmo’s satchel! 😂
Thanks for all your music on vinyl promotion! Could you push someone to re-issue George Barnes and Carl Kress. Town Hall Concert.
I love the opening hahahah Like Mikes head isnt big enough as it is...cheers, great video......
They say that nothing like a dark secluded place to avoid skin cancer...and not precisely Hernando's. Saw those reel tapes...

Candid was Nat Hentoff's label.
Thanks, I did not know that, Thought Mingus was involved?

Firesign Theater on CD!?!?!
Where are the hi-fi consolette record players? Vintage records sound dandy on those.
You are Huh huh to have all that vinyl. Put me in your will
Why the repost?
Perhaps Music Matters started trolling and ruined the comments section?
To many shots of CDs Fremer wanted them removed
Wow that’s a lot of vinyl records how can you listen to all those records there’s too many for real 😳 Good collections tho!
What would be, budget wise, the best version of Led Zeppelin 3. The original 1970 release maybe.?
Well, yes, vinyl sucks. For inconvenience, or in digital field, it really sucks. As a media for classical music? It sucks. But I still love it.

I agree! The last reissue was on CD right? A rare album on any format
