    If Michael doesn't write a book containing all his amazing anecdotes then he is doing the music world a massive disservice!
    And I want it written in an English accent...lol

    I absolutely love listening to Michael talk about records! I was actually disappointed when it was over. The stories that go along with the records are almost as good as the records themselves. Michael has said in past interviews something like that you don’t have memories of what was going on in your life when you download an album. So true...
    Thanks, Ken and Michael.

I have a Japanese pressing where the correct image width is there but they've airbrushed the little manhole cover out of the very front of the manhole cover. My version is from 2012 and is the 40th Anniversary ed. cut from the 2001 Remaster by Tony Visconti and released on Universal's series: "Back to Black", and that one sounds good to me. I had a student who was a stock broker that showed up to my house in his convertible with his Ovation guitar case upright in the middle of the backseat....... an obvious homage to the Eric Clapton cover........ If he had had to stop to quickly, the ovation would have precipitated his possible demise...... During the lesson, due to the slick material of his pants, the Ovation, with its rounded plastic back, would keep sliding off his leg....... "Are you playing guitar or reeling in a fish.....???....!!!...." I asked him. No reply and no sense of humor.

    • @EclecticApotheosis
      @EclecticApotheosis 3 роки тому

      @Jeff Glotzer I do trust my ears, to this extent. I was satisfied with my digital setup -- a highly modified CD player, highly modified Hafler amp, Stax electret headphones. I thought it exceeded, overall, my analog setup (I used to have a better cart than the 440ML) and frankly didn't think there was any point in going farther. So watching Michael is just entertainment. Now I am slumming with a FiiO and ancient Sennheiser headphones playing FLAC (mostly 16 bit, occasionally 24 bit). I know there is better. I've heard it. Even with my TT setup, there are certain virtues to vinyl, along with the usual vices. Generally, the instrumental tones sound more "true" -- skin on the drums sounds more realistic. But yes, it's too pricey to go high end vinyl and I think a great DAC is where I want to land. There is a point where the vinyl fetish just becomes impractical -- in price and in the foibles of the actual records. I mean, I've seen Michael play these records on his Caliburn table with ridiculous dish warp. And a third to a half of all records are slightly or more off center, and I can hear the pitch change -- years of digital listening have sensitized me to that. Well, we all value different things. I do value pitch stability. And I've also lost some of the ability to filter out tics and pops on the records. Yeah, it's sad. I have a number of albums I want to digitize. I have no illusions digital is "better." But it makes me happy. I really think what Michael is doing in Stereophile, which is to concentrate on insanely expensive gear, is part of what makes people think audiophilia is a bit nuts. In that sense it is as much a disservice as a service.

    Davy Spillane does not play Scottish bagpipes, he plays the Irish Uilleann Pipes (pronounced 'Ill e n' as in Chilean). Totally different instruments. The sound to the Irish pipes is produced by pushing air through a bellows with one's arm where as the Scotish pipes the air is blown to the instrument by the mouth. The difference is like calling a Banjo a Guitar. Also on your original Abbey Road album on the bottom on the crossing you can see a bit of a water drain which was removed on later versions.

    Hi Michael, those 'pipes' by Davey Spillane are NOT BAGPIPES, they are uilleann pipes!
    Attention to detail my dear boy. You have insulted as many Irish Musicians as you have Scottish. For bag pipes to work you have use tour mouth to blow in to the 'bag' where as uilleann pipes you use the pressure of your arm to body to squeeze air in and out!
