I used to plane spot with my at the old Marine Dr. parking lot that they closed in 2001 after 9/11. My dad had a 53 Chevy Pickup and we used to plane spot out of the truck bed. A lot of times dad packed a picnic. I used to watch TONS of MD-80s, 727s, DC-10s, L-1011s, and one time a DC-8. I was there when an Air France Concorde landed in the early 90s. Great times!
