I don't care how Amtrak rated for passenger rail service in the world, I just like it.
I've ridden Amtrak twice and the end of this April will be my 3rd trip aboard. The service is excellent and much more affordable than airfare. Congratulations to 50 years Amtrak.
The three dislikes are people stuck in traffic in a gas guzzling F-250 lifted for compensation and a object hanging from their tow hitch.

Agreed, we're lucky to have Amtrak, had Nixon not signed the Rail Service Act of 1970, we would've probably never had the chance for passenger service ever again thanks to the car and plane people and we would've been a freight railroad country.
Never celebrate no dislike, you gonna make dislike come early! lol Now it's 3. But trust me, I am one of 458 now.

I do remember when commercial passenger trains were removed from service on May 1st 1971 I could n t understand what was going on With Amtrak I could once again enjoy what I enjoyed before with commercial passenger trains

As you may be able to tell the sprinters are my favorite locomotives so the fact that you put the sprinter running with the engineer made my day lmao

Wow - here's to more years too! I've ridden on every Amtrak route since 1987 except for the Roanoke to Lynchburg portion of that service to the Northeast, Stockton to Sacramento and W. Barnstable to Hyannis, MA when the Cape Codder ran. Hopefully, in the next few years some new routes and services will come on board as well as new equipment and improved stations.

we went through two generations of iconic amtrak locomotives. i wonder if everybody will be able to recognize the charger like they did the genesis series and the f40s?
I'm of the same opinion, many people aren't fans of the Chargers as they prefer the F40s and P40s over them, but to be fair, they do have a nice design and they are more eco-friendly and that's what I like about them, I'm sure it will take time for the people to grow on the Chargers.
The charger is the only good looking amtrak train. the rest look very ugly

I love to travel by train and it shows
I worked for Amtrak from October 1995-March 1997 (AutoTrain) then again from December 1999-November 2001 out of Washington DC (Onboard Services)
I am going to Dallas on Amtrak from NY State in a few days! Will be lots of fun! I have done a few NY City trips on Amtrak before but those were a couple hours. My first couple DAY adventure and in coach!

PRR and Santa fe and NYC and amtrak and all others got people where they need to go and the locomtives like the f units and the charger units and the p42 and the F40s and other locomtives that did passenger service got the job done we love amtrak our number one passnger service
I prefer traveling by Amtrak over all other means of domestic travel. Train travel is my number one choice of travel domestically & is the civilized way to travel, I don’t have to deal with traffic and the hassle & drudgery of flying domestically.
