I am fortunate to live in this in this same area in central British Columbia. The Rky Mtn'r train goes right through my town. I have traveled these very canyons, bridges, rivers, lakes and hi-ways for over 40 years and counting. We get used to the scenery and beauty here. Thanks for showing me again how great this country is.

I did the round-trip Vancouver to Vancouver on the Silver Leaf Rocky Mountaineer. The trip was phenomenal. I was happy that I got to stay at Chateau Lake Louise, which was my mom's favorite place in the world. The hotel was kind enough to upgrade the room when I told them my mom's story. I also earned the Rocky Mountaineer's Order of the Salmon which they only give to one person per car on the trip.
I maintain that rail from Vancouver to Kamloops , always wave to the rocky mountaineer as it passes by. This was nice to watch and see all the places that I work. I’m lucky to be paid to spend so much time in these incredible , diverse, biomes and unique sceneries. Brings pride to maintain this amazing system and that it is appreciated . Thanks for the vid.
I was lucky enough to go on the Rocky Monutaineer, taking it form Vancouver to Banff. It really is the most amazing experience and worth every penny. The staff were amazing, the views of the beautiful landscape of British Columbia and Alberta and the whole trip is something I will never forget. I would definitely recommend travelling from Vancouver as it leaves behind the built up busy city and heads out into the beautiful country and into the mountains.
We did this reverse route last year at about the same time. I'm envious of your cooler weather and Fall foliage. There was a heat wave and the Fall colors were not so vibrant. That being said, the Rocky Mountaineer was amazing. We also booked the Gold Leaf and were not disappointed. After the two days on the train, we continued with 6 touring days in Jasper and Banff and flew home from Calgary. It was a wonderful trip to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The Canadian hospitality was amazing and the food... Chef's kiss! We want to go back and spend more time in the Jasper area.
Travelling by train obviously requires more time, but look at the wonderful scenery that you don't see from 38,000 feet! Welcome to Canada! I loved seeing the skyline of my hometown, Calgary. The Canadian Rockies are stunning. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves and yes, Canadians are very friendly.
About 20 years ago Murray Sayle (now deceased) did a GREAT vid, "the last train across Canada". The RM IS on my bucket list. Yeah is it expensive and costs similar to a European trip, BUT it IS a o once in a lifetime experience. We vac in Banff, Lake Louise and Emerald lake every year and have seen many RM trains pass by. All the people seem VERY HAPPY! Before I die I DO want to try this. As the world evolves into chaos it seems the RM is a way to separate yourself from the turmoil that is overtaking our planet. GREAT review guys!!!!!!!!
I always like to see when my favourite content creators travel through my backyard of Canada. Always makes me proud to display what we have to offer here for those abroad and even for those who haven’t travelled out west yet. A special thank you to everyone who takes the time to say hello and greet one another in this great country of ours
This is a bucket list trip for me for sure. I'm from Alberta but have lived in Southern California for the last few decades. We would drive from Edmonton to Vancouver/Victoria.a few times a year and I really miss that trip. My dad worked for CN Railway (he's in heaven now) sooooo it has always been my dream to do a trip by train through the rockies. I love watching your videos! Maybe one day I'll see you both on a train.
When I traveled this train in the 1990s I did a round-trip Vancouver-Calgary. Yes the train went all the way to Calgary then. I stayed @ the Palliser Hotel next to the train station in Calgary. I'm a 'train-a-holic' have traveled over 250,000 km by train since 1955 mostly here in Canada (51x on "The Canadian") an entire month of May 1987 in Australia ("Indian-Pacific","The Queenslander" & other long-distance trains) & 2 weeks in June 1990 in UK when British Rail still existed. Cheers from Vancouver.
Great video. The reason you switched to CN tracks at Kamloops is because CP and CN operate a one way system. All westbound trains use CN tracks and all eastbound use the CP tracks. East of Kamloops CN and CP split. With CN going via the Yellowhead Pass and CP via the Eagle Pass in the Monashee mountains, Rogers Pass in the Selkirk mountains and Kicking Horse Pass in the Rocky Mountains.
Another Jeb and Suzanne classic video. Love Western Canada. My wife and I spent 8 days in Vancouver and Whistler BC in May. Absolutely beautiful. Added the Canadian Mountaineer to my bucket list. Yes, please please please do a houseboat video😍😍😍😍 Travel safe and much love from Pennsylvania ❤️
I did a Rocky Mountaineer Rail tour back in the summer of 2002. It was from Vancouver to Jasper. My travel companions and I went with the Silver leaf package. Back then, even that was spectacular. The vegetarian food served at our seats was delicious. We may not have had dome car views, but the views of the gorgeous scenery, especially the copper sulfate colored lakes, will stay with me for the rest of my life.
My wife and I took Gold Leaf a few years ago. Hotels on both ends prior to an Alaska cruise. Met wonderful people on the train we travel with to this day. Rocky Mountaineer is top notch. Trip of a lifetime.
Travelled the exact same route - Banff to Vancouver - in September 2022 on the Rocky Mountaineer train (as well as some optional extras - Lake Minnewanka, Sulphur Mountain Gondola, Columbia Icefield - as part of our tour). Saw Lake Louise, Spiral Loop, Trans-Canada Highway, Banff, Kamloops, Bald eagles, Bears and magnificent mountain scenery. Great to see and experience.
Thank you for this video and sharing your experience. I’ve always wanted to do a train tour across the Rockies...Canada is such a beautiful country. Kudos to all the men that built those spiral tunnels. Amazing.
@14:30 great example of Rocky Mountaineer's open bar service ! One of the best train videos you've made so far! I'll be re-watching this one and the Canadian train journeys over and over again!!
Suzanne and Jeb, been a loyal follower of you both. As a proud Canadian, thrilled that you promote my country in the ways that you do...keep up the wonderful work, and I look forward to each journey that you share with the rest of us!!! Safe travels, and thank you! 🥰🥰🥰🤩👏🙏🚄🛳✈
What an amazing video! Thank you so much. Like many fellow Canadians had already mentioned in the comment, thank you for mentioning some of the important history such as First Nation, Chinese workers who contributed in the creation of the railway. So happy you and Suzanne had a great time! It's on my wishlist to do this trip, despite we've drove through the path a few times.
This trip is on my husband’s bucket list and I can’t say I’d be disappointed to join him. 😊 Jeb, I appreciate all the work you and Suzanne do putting out these videos, I miss you putting up the menus corresponding to the trips. Either way, I love the videos and will always watch them.
Good morning Jebb. I hear people complaining about the fares for the Rocky Mountaineer, but it is an all-inclusive rate, and from what I understand the staff treats you like Royalty.
I rode RM train a year earlier. Gold Leaf service. Yes, it can be a bit pricey, but it is Frist Class/5 Stars service. Some deals can be made through a travel agent, plus booking early for a deeper discount (a year in advance). You can add extra days before/after your train ride, via RM train or self-booking or Travel Agent. I recommend extra days in Calgary, Banff and Vancouver (2, 2 and 2 days each).
The beauty of train travel is you go through parts of the world anywhere and there's nothing touched by man. No buildings, no homes, etc. Free and wide open.
It most certainly is on my bucket list!! What awe inspiring scenery, and having everything 'taken care of' for you, how could it NOT be the trip of a lifetime?
Jeb, if you guys have not done so already, definitely consider checking out Via Rail’s “Ocean” route, connecting Halifax to Montreal. It’s another sleeper train, heard good things. 😁
It's amazing. I would get on at Sackville, NB and get a roomette. I wouldn't sleep a wink. The window was basically the length of the bed. It was January and I would get ready, turn the light off, and put the blind up. I would just watch the beauty go by with gusts of snow coming off the tracks. Before I knew it, the lights of the Chateau Frontenac would come into view across the St. Lawrence. Absolutely magical!
Or maybe to Toronto with a Via rail or Metrolinx GO train connection to the beautiful Niagara region... the Falls and the Niagara river gorge attractions are amazing (no visit is complete without a ride on one the Whirlpool Jet boats) and an overnight stay in Niagara-on-the-Lake with a tour of the spectacular Niagara wine country's fertile vineyards with their perfect terroir soil just below the Niagara Escarpment.
I so want to take my wife for a second honeymoon on this trip. My first plan was to take her on a Cruise Ship but after seeing this, I could easily change my mind. Thank You for sharing.
wow, beautiful landscape, thanks for sharing the entire experience with us, food, (awesome wine tasting) & activities etc, nice you could experience the outside on this train too!!
We're from Ohio but have made several trips to Canada from Quebec City out to Banff. Canada is a beautiful place, and we love our northern neighbors, what great people! The Rocky Mountaineer goes through such beautiful county, the Canadian Rockies are beyond description. Jeb, you and the wife are a great team together, always look forward to your new videos, especially the ones featuring boats and trains. Yea, you're a plane guy but thanks for scratching our backs, as well! Keep up the good work, thanks!
Thanks for the journey! Just incredible scenery. Absolutely gorgeous! Really looked like a first class experience. Always enjoy your videos. Just so wholesome and fun. You guys rock!
The spiral tunnels are fascinating. The Amtrak route across the Oregon Cascades has several tunnels and one of them is a spiral (180-degree) tunnel. All by itself it can be disorienting west (north)-bound when you go from heading west on fairly flat ground to heading east on the side of a mountain looking down into a canyon. Can't imagine what several of these in a row would do to my head 😵...Great Video adding another entry to my Bucket List.... ...and YES to the houseboat!!!! 🛥🛥🛥 I vote for several days on a houseboat on Shasta Lake in NorCal. Who's with me?
I travelled on the Rocky Mountaineer in 2019. It was unbelievably one of the best holidays ever. I travelled from Tasmania, Australia and whilst it took so long to get to our destination it was well and truly worth it.
As a Canadian I appreciated how you researched all those facts about Canada that you mentioned. I love your videos. You and Suzanne come across as being so grateful for having the opportunity to do what you do. It is so refreshing to watch.
We live in the Bow Valley east of Banff. We never tire of our wonderful environment. Happy you could share “The Rocks” with your viewers. It is also a very pleasant drive Banff to Vancouver. Best drive for scenery is Between Lake Louise and Jasper! Thanks for your video.
Between Kamloops and Mussion/Abottsford (east of Vancouver) , there was an agreement signed a few decades ago to use each railway's single track in one direction. The effective double tracking of the stretch increased each railway's capacity (so both railways benefited from sharing) compared to each railways stuck to their single track with few sidings due to the steep Fraser/Thompson river canyons for most of the stretch. So you are using CN track from Kamloops not because it is more scenic, but because it is the designated westbound track. At Cisco Crossing they did build a CN to CP (northbound) or CP to CN (southbound) interchange track. This helps in cases where one side is washed out and still allows a few trains per day to travel.
Lucky enough to live in British Columbia! You do a lovely job of sharing our beautiful province. When you say Kamloops the emphasis is on the first syllable not the second 😊
So Stunning, Gorgeous!!! The Fires Were So Very Sad. Here In Western Upstate New York We Had Smokey Hazy Days For Weeks On End From The Canadian Fires. Many Days We Had To Stay Inside With All Of Our Windows Shut. We Love Canada And It's Residents ❤, Our Neighbors 🇨🇦. Fun Trip 💕⭐, Thank You Both!!!
There is a train in Mexico called Tren InterOceanico that goes from the Gulf Coast to the Pacific coast of Mexico. You guys should do an episode on this one. Mexico is full of culture, ancient sights and ruins and amazing food and people!!
I have traveled on the El Chepe Train from Chihuahua to Los Mochis. Simply the most spectacular train journey I have been on. Even saw snow fall in Creel. Creel to Los Mochis is simply spectacular scenery.
Thank you guys for such a lovely trip once again. The trains are amazing and look comfortable, the food delicious, I admire the staff (that we can't see) for making their clients comfortable and thoroughly enjoy the experience. I have always thought God blessed CANADA with so much beauty. It is incredible that man build those long rails, tunnels and bridges, and yes thanks to them we can enjoy the journey. When the world is in turmoil; just watch the Brooks videos pure joy and so delightful ♥
As one who grew up in Lytton, British Columbia, the town that broke a WORLD RECORD for the highest temperature in the Northern Hemisphere on June 29th, 2021: 49.6° C (121.3°F), and burned down the next day, I LOVE this tour abd have traveled by train through here a few times, but only by Via Rail. By the way, Kamloops is pronounced KAM-loops emphasis on the KAM. What you didn't show was the town of Lytton that STILL hasn't started being rebuilt! I lived on my family's 160-acre farm 5 miles north of the town. However, I've lived near Salt Lake City for 26 years.
Wow as I repeat again I really enjoy Mr Jeb and his reports I have watched so many others trip reports but Jeb ( and Suzanne ) is far the best and happiest Jeb is always so positive at all times . I wish you the best 👍
On Houseboat lake: This area of Shuswap Lake was hard hit by forest fires and massive evacuations all summer, so seeing no houseboats is understandable as the whole season was a total writeoff (and for many, litterally). The province's emergency orders prohibited tourism in region because all available hotel rooms were needed to hosue evacuues. The CPKC tracks were closed for a number of days due to risk of fire. EDIT: Ok, you mentioned the fires later on on video.
Thank you for this. In my past I was a tour bus driver through this same area before the Rocky Mountaineer began. Watching this, seeing the scenery and thinking back to the commentary I shared with so many from around the world, it was like a love letter to a part of Canada I love so much.
Thank you for acknowledging the contributions of Chinese labourers in constructing the railroad. After its construction, the Chinese were treated very poorly and were discouraged from settling via a head tax and then eventually banned completely via an Exclusionary Act in the 1920s. It wasn't repealed until after WWII.
I was just recommending your channel to a friend today, and just in time for another amazing breakdown of a fantastic journey. The Rocky Mountaineer has been on my bucket list for a while now - thank you for the tips and tricks to make the most out of the journey, and I think aiming for late September looks like a great idea.

Amazing content and really makes me want to go on an adventure like that. One question - HOW did you achieve the POV shots from "above" or "the top of the train" itself? As a famous content creator, did they have a special observation are filming area they allowed you to use? The footage really adds something wonderful to the viewing experience.
The first day we had windows facing forward since we were in the first row. And other footage we probably took from the observation platform, nothing special for filming. Thanks for watching!

Praying You Get To Take That Trip In Memory Of Your Father ♥️.
You guys are igniting a fire in my soul to get on a train 😊 I love my country and am so glad you experienced the best we have to offer 😊
Yes, please please please do a houseboat video😍😍😍😍
Travel safe and much love from Pennsylvania ❤️
Amazing.
Many train trips taken. This may be the ultimate bucket list to embark on.
@14:30 great example of Rocky Mountaineer's open bar service ! One of the best train videos you've made so far! I'll be re-watching this one and the Canadian train journeys over and over again!!
I need to see y’all on a houseboat. That would be hilarious and awesome.
+1 for the houseboat. That would be cool.
Agree! Would be so much fun to watch.
That was on Shuswap Lake, one of many very large lakes in this region, it is shaped like a letter H.
@@classicmusicarchives7370 yup, they need to houseboat on The Shuswap!!! Unbelievable experience!
YES for The Houseboat Tour PLEASE!!!
Suzanne and Jeb, been a loyal follower of you both. As a proud Canadian, thrilled that you promote my country in the ways that you do...keep up the wonderful work, and I look forward to each journey that you share with the rest of us!!! Safe travels, and thank you! 🥰🥰🥰🤩👏🙏🚄🛳✈
Love all the animals on this trip, especially the bald eagle 🙂
Wow! What a beautiful train trip! You two are just so cute! Love all your videos! Bloopers are hilarious! Always make us laugh! ❤
Love how you said "We didn't miss any scenery" as you are filming a tunnel wall.
Friends from the uk did this not so long ago and they absolutely loved it
What an amazing video!
Thank you for sharing! It was absolutely beautiful! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇨🇦🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Well done 👏🏻Beautiful train and absolutely stunning views!
Great scenery on this route!
Suzanne has vecome a nice addition to your videos...thank you for sharing the beautiful scenery vwith us!!
How gorgeous! Canada is so beautiful.
YES! Jeb, you never fail to impress! I would love to see some more trip reports from Calgary. Maybe an Airports Revealed or WestJet across the pond!
Yes To The Houseboat!!!
Stunning scenes, stunning photography...first class all the way!
The train even has a "top shelf" bar included.
I travelled on the Rocky Mountaineer in 2019. It was unbelievably one of the best holidays ever. I travelled from Tasmania, Australia and whilst it took so long to get to our destination it was well and truly worth it.
What an incredible trip! We hope to travel on the Rocky Mountaineer one day. Cheers from Australia 😃
As a Canadian I appreciated how you researched all those facts about Canada that you mentioned. I love your videos. You and Suzanne come across as being so grateful for having the opportunity to do what you do. It is so refreshing to watch.
I found your videos by accident today and I'm enjoying watching them. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THEM.
2 days was a remarkable tour
So awesome, was waiting for another video.
As always I love how positive you both are! I’ve been dreaming of doing this trip and now I want to do it in autumn for sure… my favorite season
We know.
Thank you for that bit of history. I am American and appreciate learning history...the great, the good, the bad and the ugly.
I was just recommending your channel to a friend today, and just in time for another amazing breakdown of a fantastic journey. The Rocky Mountaineer has been on my bucket list for a while now - thank you for the tips and tricks to make the most out of the journey, and I think aiming for late September looks like a great idea.
I rode RM train a year earlier. Gold Leaf service. Yes, it can be a bit pricey, but it is Frist Class/5 Stars service. Some deals can be made through a travel agent, plus booking early for a deeper discount (a year in advance). @@clarkcalabrese292 thank you for your insight! Really appreciated.
What an amazing journey! From the breathtaking landscapes to the exquisite dining in Gold Leaf class, it’s truly a bucket list experience.
Holy cow, the view 30:10 for that sign off! That shot from the bridge is one of the best city perspectives I’ve ever seen, nothing short of spectacular. A perfect contrast to the incredible nature you both shared with us.
Well done, y’all should win an award for that.
Thanks! That shot is one of my favorites I’ve ever captured!
@@GreenerGrassdo you ever make large prints, frame them and hang them in your home? Such gorgeous amazing pictures you must have! Western Upstate NY Here
I did this trip last year. It is a very special memory!!!
Must do in life sounds like a awesome trip
What a fun journey, Jeb & Suzanne! I'm long retired so this is now on my travel bucket list. Thanks for sharing another great adventure.
My uncle lives in Calgary and I visited him this summer break and we drove 11 hours to Vancouver and back. We’ve also visited the dinosaur museum in Richmond. I love Canada 🇨🇦 🇨🇦 🇨🇦!!!
Yes to the houseboat trip. Something that definitely interests me. Love your channel.
Simply loving you, guys! Please keep living your best life!
Jeb Brooks can put anyone in a good mood. And Suzanne is top notch!
I booked this train as part of my honeymoon with the gold leaf, totally worth the indulgence in my opinion
Well kids, its about time !!!!! WONDERFUL.....
I have been along this route dozens of times by car and truck. The scenery is quite spectacular.
Wow, wie Wunderschönen Farben Erleuchten hat.........................! Sind mehrere Touristen & Familie Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag & Ferien + Ausflug nach Canadian gefahren ................................................? Bei jeder Genussvolle als Menschheitsgeschichte Unterstützung brauchen
The bloopers are so cute ❤️😊 I'm a travel agent & I enjoy (as well as appreciate) your luxury train reviews . It helps me determine if I'll promote a particular trip!
The spiral tunnels, that brings back memories of the 1970s when I was a kid and we'd stop to watch the trains go through it on vacation.
My wife and I are planning this exact trip. And most (including videos) go from Vancouver towards Banff, so we enjoyed this perspective. Thank you. BTW, we just came back from going to see Miniature Wunderland, I know you went a few years ago, and just wow. Thanks for all your videos Jeb
Minatur Wunderland is a favorite, nothing else like it! Hope you have a great rail journey!
The Rocky Mountaineer is extremely Posh. The scenery is like something from a dream.
I truly enjoy your Rail videos. Everyone does Airline videos and only a few people do Rail travels on UA-cam. Keep up the travels!
I was so interested in this trip. Thank you for taking us along!
Looks amazing, definitely my favourite way to travel is by train. Unfortunately in my country, alot of the older railways are no longer are running. Having said that I live close to one. I don't know about the US but in all of Ireland, North and South, rail journeys are expensive, but less than the UK. That trip looks fantastic. Gorgeous, beautiful scenery. You are definitely in the right job!!!!😂😅
