In today's video we're going to learn how to hit longer drives.
To hit long drives, you need a long backswing. This is because the driver requires a lot of time to accelerate and generate the club head speed necessary to launch your ball.
The key to making a long backswing is in your transition, and in today's video you will learn a great drill to help you out. You will learn to create the separation between your upper and lower body that leads to tremendous club head speed.

Zach. Fabulous natural athletic examples form all of us older guys who've been at golf, baseball, and all the other athletic moves as they all relate to the golf swing.

Excellent video! I have been trying to work on this very thing but wasn't exactly sure how. This video breaks it down nicely.

Hi Zach enjoy your videos are you saying actually take a step forward by listing left foot and is this a transfer of weight and should you rotate the hips at the same time let me know thanks for your help Jack

Thanks, Zack. Excellent tip. Makes sense for longer backswing and transition in te swing. Will give it a try.

Great video! However I find I need more height on my driver as well as my other clubs. What can I do to get more height and carry the ball further?

Hey Zach, is it possible/practical to actually use that same move when on the tee box for real?

Hi Zach I didn't see a reply to my last comment are you saying on the downswing that you should actually take a step forward or are you saying that you should transfer your weight and rotate the hips feeling the stretch in the downswing thanks for your help kindly advise Jack

I certainly don't have fabulous athletic moves, nor did i ever. And I play right handed though I'm left handed. Getting to the point I don't care if I hit monster drives, I just want decent ones. So I tried this drill and can definitely feel the separation. The question is, as I assume I shouldn't step out when actually playing, how do I apply this concept? Zach doesn't move his left foot out, it stays planted. So do I push my weight into my left foot on the backswing? Seems counterintuitive and contradicts a lot of the other tips I've seen.
