Nice car. If I had it I’d get rid of the Z28 stripes and rims. Plus someone put 70 tailpipes on it which are too long and hang too low. I know cause I own a 70 4 speed 70 Z28. Also the chrome shift knob is correct if it was a 70 4 speed with console car but incorrect for a 71. Back in ‘75 I owned a 71 Z28 4 speed.

Very nice car! Ditch the tail pipes and the Z28 stripes....no SS badge on RS option on the grill... side emblem only. You've got a few mistakes to correct if you want a 100 points car.... but again a very very nice car

Mine was Green, no Z28 stripes, no mention of “RS” on the car, no console, just a four speed Hurst Shifter. Paid $2,800.00 in 2003. Traded my new shitbox 340 Cuda. Lol
A very well made car, zero issues!

that chrome strip on the door where it meets the quarter panel looks like a piece form autozone jaja my respects for the original factory but i would rather own a non-stock modern second gen camaro with todays technology. basically a pro touring second gen camaro. you got to keep up with the modern muscle cars such as hellcats, mustangs and new camaros and even european supercars while keeping the vintage metal. now that is priceless!

Glad to see the 70 1/2 to 73's getting attention. I had a 71 SS 350 4 speed 3.55 posi. Aztec Bronz on Black. Great car. They dropped the compression that year so the 350 in the SS was rated at 270 hp. I believe the 402 BB was rated at 300 hp.

Big block and four speed,my favorite flavor! I'm building this cars stripped brother,No options to speak of but it has the ones it needs,a new 396/ 375 horse with Hooker headers and a rebuilt 4 speed! Factory red with black interior. Found it in a back yard here in Texas. Hadn't been driven since 1986, 67,000 miles.

The numbers matching doesn't spike my attention near as much as just seeing an RS -rather than an RS "Clone" with sawed bumpers and wrong front marker lights on a video that says "Real split bumper Camaro!!" ugh , I hate them :) . this is a beautiful car, However there is a lot wrong with it. RS cars did not get SS emblems in the grill. also no Z28 paint stripes. no Hurst emblems on the spoiler, the fangs on the rear bumper are wrong, the SS emblems on the fenders are incorrect. they should be black and not white. the steering wheel is incorrect, the SS would have had a 2 spoke wheel with the SS emblem in the center. the 4 spoke wheel was optional, but not SS in the center cap. the engine bay is a disaster. wrong color paint in the engine, the engine is missing the TCS equipment, missing the fuel filter and the fuel plumbing is all wrong. I have no idea whey they would rout the spark plug wire like that, but that's wrong, the fan shroud is wrong. its also missing the rear sway bar. if it was not for the stamps on the engine block and the air cleaner I would have thought it was a clone. I also have a 71 SS 396 4 Speed car and I hate seeing people pass of an incorrectly restored car as an "unaltered engine bay". and then he has to compare it to a Ferrari? WTF? it sound like a Big Block Chevy! and while the car sounds good, the LS3 396 used in 71 and 72 was the weakest 396/402 big block Chevy made. it was rated at net 270 HP in 1972 and 300 gross HP in 71. the L34 was rated at 350HP gross in 1970, but the real monster was the L78 which was rated at 375 gross HP in 1970. their is a would of difference between the sound of an LS3 and an L78. the LS3 is subdued and tame circus lion, the L78 sound like a pack of 50 lions about to devour a gazelle when you crack the throttle. I am not bagging on this car, its a very nice car, it just needs a lot of work to be put back to a true restoration.

    • @dennisjoseph629

Matt black tail light panel and slotted 14" rallye wheels are missing also.. Awesome looking car but when a guy want's to brag it up about a "blue chip" collectable Camaro I'd expect it to be CORRECTLY restored... Every little detail. People always put the Z28 stripes and 5 spoke wheels on these... Again, gonna tout how rare a car is, please get every last detail correct.

    Wait a minute here, this is a '71 Camaro SS/RS 396????? First of all, the 396 Chevy big-block was discontinued after the beginning of the 1970 production year and replaced with a short-lived 402 (396 bored out ), big-block. Chevy had the 307, 350, 400(small-block), and the big-bock 454/365h.p. in 1971...that's what I remember....not aware of a 396 SS/RS Camaro in 1971??

has to be the cleanest 2nd gen ive ever seen the triple black is solid and a big block too, 2nd gen camaros are my fave muscle car esp if u put a big block in one let alone factory baddest ass camaro right here. when people "do re-search" and under-stand emission restrictions are the only reason their "high comp small displacement" engines are exactly as they were...lmao. Why do you think they jumped on overhead cams so quick and forced induction....lmao. "sophisticated my ass" only designed to work if u never use it kinda shit. At least ferrari has only "recently" been making their flagship cars forced induction but hats off to porsche for finding work arounds with their own constraints. Still the only reason v8s sound so good is bc aesthetically esp big blocks were talkin pure unhindered performance esp the 7L range. Solid NA intake and fuel air capability with huge headers and open exhausts or straight headers lmao. Nothing beats it its why ford won back 2 back lemans. If only gm had the reason or capital to make a l88 engine powered mid engine car, or most likely used the lt1 out of size constraints...which didnt even exist when ford was using the 7.0 in the gt 40. and eventually swapped to a smaller engine...still the 7.0 shelby proved a thing or two about how an engine could be drivin and a car in general power where it was in the gears and what gears etc. The euros had to cling to quad cam v8s, 10s, 12s. to remotely match a powerband of a big displacement v8 or even v10 for the vipers matter.

I thought that too - but the trim tag does state “19” for a white stripe, so it must be legit for 71

Can anyone imagine if there had been a "Camaro SS 454 LS6"?

Motion built that car. Took a new Camaro and installed a new GM crate 427 or 454. Not too many built.

What was the actual net horsepower in 1971 (low compression) ? About 270 ? Looks like a high 14 second car.

    m21 or m22 rockcrusher 4 speed?

      @thud9797 3 роки тому

Trans code was B so it's an M21 and the power teams chart confirms. Rear axle is a 3.42. No M22 or other ratios available with 396.

the ss emblem shouldn't be on the front of the grill with the rs package

I’m not too sure about that Angelo. My brother had the 70 1/2 RS/SS package and his came from the factory with the SS emblems on the grill just like this one.
      Absolutely amazing, beautiful cars!!!!!
