Tissot, the official watch of the National Basketball Association has been begging for our attention.
We’ve given their competition more of our admiration, respect, and money, think of Tag Heuer, Maurice Lacroix, even Seiko. They all get more notoriety from us as collectors and horological hobbyists.
Is this the Tissot that finally unleashes the attention of watch enthusiasts to the brand.
Is this the Tissot that makes enthusiasts take Tissot more seriously than ever before?
Here are 5 reasons, this is the most important watch Tissot has ever released.
Tissot is all about their lineage. Every watch box they deliver to customers proudly boasts their history since 1853. In all of that history, their brightest moment may be right now, because of a little watch from the 1970s. The Tissot Powermatic 80 isn’t their first attempt that making an homage worthy of our adoration. From the Tissot Visodate Seastar, and the T-Win to the PRX, Tissot has transformed itself for centuries.
This Tissot has a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with antireflective coating on the underside.
5 Things You Didn't Know About the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80
1. It's way better looking in person than you think. This is going to be many real watch enthusiasts' first Tissot. The hands are not annoying or dainty, They're confident, unique, and catch the eye with a beautiful reflection of nearly any light. The rose gold bezel is brilliant and is more on the pink side than the red or yellow side. It's a brilliant color, it's got a brilliant shine, and it is not too wide, bold, or loud that it's a flashy bezel like a fluted bezel on a two-tone Datejust -- which is, for lack of a better word, brilliant, too.
2. It's more comfortable than you think. During the honeymoon phase, I wore this for three days longer in a row than I had intended. Why? There was nothing making me want to switch. The style of this specific variant lends itself to people who either wear a lot of blacks or who like to wear more fun colors.
3. The lume is doomed. The lume and these indices are really my only con for this watch. I would have preferred either stronger indices with no lume or stronger lume with bolder indices. If it weren't for the proud date window, these indices would have caused me to move on from the watch in general. The R in PRX is robust but the lume leaves rather quickly, rather weakly, and is anything BUT, robust.
4. This watch presence punches 2-5 times above its price. The movement does too yet before we get there, let's talk about the curb appeal of this heritage-rich design. The reflections of light on the flat, satin-finished brushed case are gorgeous. On an integrated bracelet design like this, the presence of the case makes itself known, it's "pointy" because of how flat the design is. It is 40mm but presents more boastfully than a black bay 58. The curved lugs hug the wrist. The PRX gives you one of those hugs people give you when they don't really know you like that. It's good-looking, just keep that in mind.
5. This two-tone watch has two one-two punches. The First one-two punch, The caliber sets it over the top from the competition. Movement is an automatic ETA with Tissot's Powermatic's famous 80 hours of power reserve. Mine is running 3 seconds fast and is working perfectly for me. Caliber aside, this is a design enthusiasts' watch. Listening to these dimensions is a prototypical watch enthusiast's dream, 40 mm diameter 11mm thickness, 44.6mm lug to lug, finishing is amazing, the light play is gorgeous. This watch has an awesome
The second one-two punch is this watch looks just as good in a button-up as it does dressed down with your athleisure, Yeezy sweatpants, and some slides.
That's the PRX 80 in two-tone rose gold. If you got the quartz version, you're probably thinking the automatic doesn't really belong because the point of this watch was to push Tissot's quartz offerings. However, the quartz version of this watch is a very cool, vintage-inspired timepiece. This PRX Powermatic has style, personality, 80 hours of mechanical power reserve, a waffle dial pattern, unisex charm, and is a legitimately luxurious swiss made timepiece that you'll be proud to wear. Has anyone ever said that about a Tissot before? Now you know why I love it.
And I love you. Peace and love, like and subscribe. Knife and Watch.
Classic Two Toned Watch!
This is the variant I went with after seeing all 3 dials in person. It really has to be seen in person to understand just how stunning it is. Its the kind of watch that people who dont pay attention to watches notice.
U just sold me this watch. Thank you!
@@omertafightclub3936 Amazing! Im so in love with mine, I hope it brings you as much joy as it does me!
This one or the Blue Dial One idk
My friend, your video helped me decide to buy this watch. Showed up today. Agree it looks better in person. The white dial squares are almost 3D and not as close together than I thought they would be. The gold bezel melts into the silver, often seemingly matching colors until the light hits it just right, then the gold is more pronounced. Watch is comfortable as you mentioned, I have the green quartz prx and this Powermatic feels heavier however I haven’t weight each watch. Love the gold boxed date window, the quartz version has no date box and doesn’t look good imo, the gold date window on the Powermatic helps elevate the look. This watch is like a plant, it thrives in the light, and what is cool is the dial goes from a creamy almost vanilla color in lower light and bright white in bright light. Thanks for sharing your video of this unique watch!
I love gold and this is my favorite variants among whole series.
The PRX is exactly what Tissot needed.....a flagship watch that the brand can put at the forefront. The brand has been around for many years and makes good watches, but never made one that stood out from the bunch.....this is the one.
Just bought mine with the blue dial and I love it, feels more comfortable than my Tudor Black Bay
Today I tried this watch in person at a local Authorized Dealer and OMG!! What a watch!! When the day comes, I will not hesitate to buy this white with rose gold version. AMAZING!!! 😍
Beautiful piece bro! I actually almost bought it as a daily
Thank you for the review. This PRX will be my 3rd Tissot.
I'm loving the PRX line. I find myself really drawn to the quartz version, but the Powermatic 80 is awesome as well. Didn't even know the two tone existed! Thanks for having our back! :)
I bought the quartz all gold and the green face ones. I can't stop looking at this one though.
The most beautiful watch is with three colors combined together IMO. 👍
The colour tone of the rose gold pvd is really amazing as well it's less rose and almost honey
I didn't know there was automatic PRX was available! I thought PRX model only came in quartz. Thanks for the review!
Your channel is definitely my new favourite for watch and knife content! I just picked up the quartz version of this watch and I am super happy with it :)
Everyone is buying the blue dial. The white dial is the ticket.
I am trying to decide between blue and white dials. Have you gotten one?
1000% the white dial is where its at.
I tried on the white dial and loved it, but it was a little too flashy for me. For someone who wears business attire more frequently, it would work better. I went with the black one.
Gold also seems to flatter dark complexions, like our video host here, and I am pretty pasty. 😕
Just bought it and its lovely
Black for me
That’s a great watch. I haven’t been very excited about integrated bracelets, but you may have sold me…especially if the bracelet is high quality! 80 hrs of power reserve is amazing!
very good looking watch for sure!
Just bought it (rose gold) and love it.
Beautiful watch. I ordered a blue power matic to replace my every day watch, a Seiko 5 snkk 47. And yes first time tissot.
great to see you back! great points and i really appreciate the great legibility too.
It's interesting to hear your take that the date window actually helps the presence and overall "strength level" of the dial - too often I hear people talking about just symmetry, and not much beyond the obvious
Came for the watch review... now I know people are giving me awkward hugs... thanks
What a fantastic review. That watch looks amazing on your skin tone. Keep up the good work. Subscribed.
So beautiful. I got the black one but this was my next option . I do love the Green and Blue but I'm more into traditional black or white
you've got great taste my friend
Simple and elegant quite a good looking watch. Great video 👍
Thank you Jeremy!!
Nice video! I just bought one but in black. I wear mostly black outfits and not super thrilled having my watch stand out as much as the rose gold prx would.
I own a 15500st and a 5968A love the 70s design language from GG
But find myself with the PRX on my wrist every day. Go with what you love not the hype.
Amazing little Swiss watch.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this timepiece. It looks really good on your wrist!
Just ordered it..good piece...thanks
I have the tissot sea star PM 80
I love you too. And I wasn’t tempted by this version until you introduced me to it. It’s not gaudy
Yes, beauty
Torn between the blue and white 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Did you finally make a decision?
I have the blue, getting this one as well
I went with the blue first, getting this one next.
Gold rose
On my to buy list :)
I really have a hard time with the powermatic80. Where it is much more appealing to me, there are those plastic parts in the movement WHICH WE DID NOT KNOW ABOUT.
Time will tell how they are going to last, but I myslef would not want to be the test rabbit for such a price tag over the quartz version... If something breaks, most watch services will probably not try to fix it, instead put another whole movement which probably meets with the cost of a new quartz version... Some plastics withstand more than metals, but is it the case here? There are no durability test done which the public would know about. Price needs to drop to about 600$ for the watch to be worth taking the risk imo. You don't get twice the watch here. Keeping in mind that the quartz is also more true to the original also draws some soft value from it - I think it's therefore priced incorrectly. I would rather get myself a Hamilton for that money.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts here Lukasz! I’m sure a lot of people will go for the quartz because it’s such an incredible value proposition!
It looks good on you, man. I chose the black one. The gold works great with your dark skin. I am too white. 😅
You could pull it off. God bless you.
Best colours
Watching this video with my PRX in my hand!!! Btw excellent video. Subbed 😊
Its gold
You get the chance to see the blue also?
Loooks like suit watch, are you sure it looks well with short and t-shirt (or sweatpants/trainers) etc ?
Rappers all over the world are wearing rolex, royal oak or nautilus with Shirts an pants
@@Cero01One 1. the question as not about rolex and nautilus. 2. rappers are not the ones that you would take fashion advice from (unless you brainwashed in to "urban style")
hi, what´s size the wrist?
Do you find the bracelet scratch resistance? 🤔
Bracelet doesn’t seem to scratch easily
@@KnifeWatch thanks mate for the prompt reply! Quick question: how many years does it take before you have to service this model? Also, is it costly servicing & cleaning a ETA? What's the average service cost for an ETA?
Nice watch but not a fan of the P-80 movement. They took a decent highbeat and butchered it in pursuit of longer power reserve, a very poor trade.
I agree. Long power reserve isnt something I really need. A smooth 4 hertz second hand sweep, now that's something I really like, much more than an extra day or two of power reserve. I rarely wear the same watch more than two days in a row so I'm used to setting the time and date when I put on a watch. I actually enjoy setting them, it brings me peace.
Was with you until you made that ridiculous statement about the BB58. Anyway enjoy your watch.
Lol I have to add inflammatory statements once in a while, my friend. Thank you so much for watching. I’m just glad you took time out of your day to check out my video. it means a lot.
@@KnifeWatch I am glad you understood it was just a joke.. I am thinking of getting that exact same model. As an everyday slightly dress of watch. Year review was brilliant mate was brilliant mate!
