I felt this so much at the end. I've been vegan for 3 years now and for some reason the past year I've developed a gluten intolerance and I get super bloated and feel sick if I eat it. The best advice I can give is corn tortillas, and brown rice and quinoa/ chickpea pasta. Its' definitely more expensive but Trader Joe's brown rice and quinoa pasta is around $2 a bag!
Deliciously Ella also makes vegan and glutenfree meals 🙌 she's got a blog, multiple cookbooks and an app (which costs 1,29€ per month) and sometimes she posts recipes on instagram. I've got two of her cookbooks and the app and love them!
I had to go GF due to hormonal issues as well. I started with the easy replacements like rice or chickpea pasta, Vans GF waffles, and then just stopped buying bread all together! TJ’s has GF bread options, as well as the Food for Life brand at Whole Foods, but I don’t think they’re that good lol. TJ’s cauliflower crust and kale gnocchi are some of my fav replacements so far. I also usually just put almost every meal on a bed of greens or with Banza rice or noodles. My transition to GF ended up with me being plant based vs vegan, as I eat some fish and eggs now and that’s helped me feel less restricted and was recommended to help with my disorder. It was hard to not feel like a “traitor” or a failure for giving up veganism, but I had to really put my health first and it’s made a huge difference in how restricted I feel with my food options!
had to go vegan and gf a few months ago - I have a hard time eating any gluten replacements so i just basically had to restructure the types of meals i ate; instead of sandwiches i eat salads (for the banh mi, you can put all the same ingredients into a bowl w lettuce or greens), and instead of pasta i eat more rice based dishes. theres a lot of good gf alternatives out there now, i bet esp in LA. you can get like red lentil pasta thats gf and tastes fine in a red sauce and cuts the craving for italian food. also watching julien's cooking videos always inspires me
I’m gluten intolerant and my mum has coeliac’s disease, but we both find it quite easy to avoid it, only bc gf pasta is quite nice and hard to tell the difference, the only big thing is bread, you get used to it after a while, you just have to toast everything or warm it up or it WILL break
im about to move out of my parents house (finally) and definitely feel the apartment hunting stress lol, but watching your vlogs always helps me relax xx
I'm coeliac + vegan (and live in Australia) but honestly when I found out I was coeliac I literally thought it was the end of good-tasting food, but I promise it's amazing. My body was literally attacking itself and it was the most painful experience (I was only diagnosed a few years ago) but when I cut gluten I literally lost 20kg of swollen weight (44lb) in about a year because my body was so so allergic. It's all about trial and error! Try different brands and see what you like best and make sure the people around you are supportive (there have been so many times I have to bring my own container of food to places because I know I won't be able to eat there). Pinterest and UA-cam were suuuuuuper helpful when I first became gf+v and also speak to a dietician, they can be so so amazing in showing you different things to eat that substitute what you were previously eating! All the best, you'll feel SO much better cutting gluten especially if you're intolerant. It's so hard at first, but you got this!!!!!!
I don’t have an auto immune disorder but i gave up gluten because i feel the best when i don’t eat it. It was so hard at first to transition like veganism. What i did first was when making my grocery list i would write everything down that i would normally get and just swap out whatever pasta or food had gluten for the same thing but a gluten free version. Like bread ... trader joes has a delicious gluten free bread that i love. And then once you have all your big things covered like bread, noodles, bagels things like that then you can get really strict with other things like sauces and things like that. Its hard to do it cold turkey but those are small ways that helped me transition ❤️❤️
Hi Lindsey! I'm also a vegan and i don't eat gluten (i don't know if i'm celiac or not, but i get really bloated whenever i eat gluten) and basically i switched pasta with rice, quinoa or even gluten free pasta (not as good as regular pasta tho). I never tried, but i know you can make your pasta at home. To be gluten free, you just have to use a gluten free flour (also, the recipe i saw is from Hana Grace, here on youtube!!). It was a bit hard to cut off bread, but when i really want some i just eat sourdough bread (i can digest it very well... but once again i don't know if i'm 100% gluten intolerante) or gluten free bread... that you can also make at home! It's hard to cut off your diet something you're really used to, but like veganism it's a matter of time :) Hope I helped :) Love from Portugal
lindsey!! you are one of my favorite people to watch and though unfortunate, you are not alone!! i’m 20 and got really sick in 2018 and now have several chronic illnesses-i also went gluten free!! at first it seemed like everythinggg had gluten but definitely there’s so many alternatives out there now! i’ve been gluten free for awhile and i barely even think about it anymore! i also know a few friends w hashimoto’s and going gf helped them a ton, wishing u the best of luck!
I am gluten intolerant as well and I had a really hard time giving up pasta. But I found this amazing brand Banza at Target. It’s pasta made entirely from chickpeas and you can barely tell the difference from regular pasta.
missed your videos girl!! so excited for the lives comeback!! on that gluten free, try looking up to sub regular flour for rice flour, works wonders! and there's a lot of gluten free pastas out there! give them all a try! on breads tho I guess you'd have to try to bake them or try to find some in the supermarket! but UA-cam DEFINITELY has a lot of info on that 💕
I’m not sure when the last one was, but I’d love to see an updated skincare routine! You’re literally glowing. As a fellow pale chick I can never get enough tips.
I'm gluten-free and vegetarian, it's definitely tough but it's possible! Products I highly highly recommend: Dr Prager's chicken nuggets(They've got a bunch of gluten-free chicken patties and tenders and all that!), Katz sells gluten free/vegan desserts and things like cupcakes that are delicious, Trader joes gluten free bread and bagels are a life saver, and Amy's has a gluten free/vegan mac and cheese that's pretty good! Good luck!
I’m gluten intolerant and my mum has coeliac’s disease, but we both find it quite easy to avoid it, only bc gf pasta is quite nice and hard to tell the difference, the only big thing is bread, you get used to it after a while, you just have to toast everything or warm it up or it WILL break, good luck with it though:)
I’m Coeliac and a lot of gluten products happen to be dairy free/vegan as well but I’m from the UK so idk if it’s different in the US. It just takes a lot of trial and error of trying different products to see which works best for you x
If you're looking for recipes that are vegan and gluten free you should check out Julien Solomita's channel! He's made a ton of interesting things and everything he makes is vegan and gluten free :)
awww linds, i feel you. gluten intolerance can be hard to navigate. for GF pasta, I really love trader joe's brown rice spaghetti. it is so yummy, and though I can't promise it will taste like traditional pasta, I can promise that it is DELICIOUS! as for a lil bread hack-- get a large sweet potato and cut it into toast-like planks, then roast them in the oven and use as a bread substitute. eating avocado toast this way is SO GOOD. also, I saw someone down below spit some knowledge on TJs cauliflower crust, and I too can attest to its goodness! again, it's not gonna taste like bread, but it's so so good in its own right. this is gonna be a tough transition-- allow yourself to feel all of the feelings about it, be patient with yourself, and take the time to try out some new things.sending you lots of love!!!
I have a gluten intolerance and the only pasta I can stand is trader joe's brown rice and quinoa pasta, I HIGHLY recommend it! it's inexpensive too. I also love mixing it with lentil pasta to add some protein!
Coeliac disease runs in my family, and a one thing to know is that a lot of food might be gluten free ingredient wise but it might be manufactured/handled in the same area as food with gluten, therefore can be contaminated and isn’t gluten free. In Ireland the Coeliac Society publishes a list of all certified gluten free food that has no cross contamination, it might be worth checking to see if there’s something similar in the US 😊
I think Caitlin from from my bowl makes a lot of vegan and gluten free recipes!! also I really love chickpea pasta... like even more than regular pasta bc it doesn't make me feel sleepy and gross after I eat it. banza is my favorite :)
For gluten free vegan recipes, From My Bowl is AMAZING! I highly recommend the brown rice spaghetti from Trader Joes, it's the best GF past I've founds besides Jovial. Pasta was the most difficult for me to find a good replacement.
I also had to go GF because of thyroid related issues. I didn't believe it would help at first, but after the first three months my hormones were at much more normal levels and i felt less sluggish/inflamed! The hardest part is definitely the hidden gluten foods (soy sauce for me is the worst because it's in sooo many Asian foods) but in the past two years I've had absolutely no problem with it in New York and LA, pretty much every single restaurant is able to accommodate. One thing to watch out for is a lot of gluten free breads, pastries, etc have a lot of thickeners and additives to replicate the texture of gluten, so I try to avoid these unhealthy "imitation" type foods and go for things that are naturally gluten free (cuisines like Mexican, Vietnamese, Mediterranean are great). It's a hard transition at first but soon it will feel easy and natural!
vegan mario has the BEST gluten free sourdough breads, pastas, pastries, and even babka! it's local to CA and I would def recommend to anyone allergic to gluten (coming from someone who has been intolerant for 8 years and has tried ALL the products out there).
I noticed you love avocado toast! I've heard if you make your own sourdough bread from home, the gluten is digested differently than if its store-bought bread. not sure if there's any merit to it, but I've noticed I tolerate it better. also, brown rice pastas from TJ are amazing! best of luck.
I have the exact same thyroid condition and am vegetarian so I don't eat meat, gluten and am meant to stay away from dairy products!! I know it seems really hard but I've been watching your vids for a while and I think apart from bread (that part sucks the most I gotta say), what you eat now (from what I've seen) can so easily be adjusted to it! I rely on pulses and grains like lentils, chickpeas, quinoa, oats, brown rice and just lots of veggies and fruit. Honestly you've helped me figure out what to eat as a vegetarian even with me not being able to eat gluten so I reckon you'll realise how easy it becomes. Also there's so much more gf bread out there that is actually kind of fire so find a brand you love :) I'm Australian so I can't really help w US products but I get mine from a local bakery. Xoxo
Girlfriend Collective is the best! I love their leggings and they have the cutest colors plus it's cool to know that they're made out of water bottles :)
So many things that are labelled vegan are also gluten free. Most gluten free bread options are vegan, you can check out the frozen rice breads at wholefoods! I live in a country with waaaaaay less gluten free options and in the states, it is very widely available and restaurants are accommodating. Just keep reading the labels and follow some vloggers/bloggers who are health-nuts! They help a lot. Good luck, wishing you good health :)
I, too, have Hashimoto's (but am not hypo at this point). I went gluten free for 2 months and didn't notice a difference so I went back (this was like 5 years ago). Recently, I went 99% plant based (about 6 weeks ago), and am considering dropping the gluten again because my energy level is down to almost zero. And my body cannot regulate temperature (always freezing or hot flash, no comfortable in between). I'll be anxious to see if you notice anything going gluten free. Please update us!
I’ve had celiac disease for over 12 years but I’m not vegan! I’ve definitely tried some amazing gluten free bread, pasta, cakes and recipes that are gf as well as vegan:) it’s a struggle while eating out, as cross contamination is still ridiculous, but I wish you all the best!! I absolutely loved this video and always enjoy your content so so much:)
Eating sprouted bread in small doses is easier on the stomach if you’re sensitive to gluten. I am a bit sensitive to gluten and it doesn’t bother me unless I’m goin hard in the sprouted bread (like having it multiple times a day). I’m not sure how it would work with your condition but something to look into.
My sister-in-law recently found out she is sensitive to gluten and it’s been hard for her. She now switches out corn tortillas for flour tortillas, opts for gluten free pasta. But the hardest thing is to find decent gluten free bread
Theres so many gluten free versions of everything now especially in LA so you're lucky in that sense. Gluten free breads are so good these days, buckwheat pastas, rice, dark chocolate, dates, almond butters, potatoes. These are the things that my gluten intolerant ass relies on.
hey!! gf vegan here, it's actually much easier than you think. my fav pasta is brown rice pasta (TJ's brand is great) and banza pasta. for bread the food for life brown rice bread is delicious but pricey. but for the most part i just stick to naturally gf staples (rice, oats, quinoa, corn tortillas, etc). most restaurants nowadays i feel like have pretty gf-friendly options. you got this!
hope everythings doing ok! i always love to watch ur videos, and i always reflect and am shocked that ive been a viewer for 4 years cos time has flown by:)
jovial pasta is the best gluten-free one! shär's bread is good, not all their products are vegan but the breads pretty much are. o'doughs makes good bagels and sandwich buns and flatbreads. little northern bakehouse is another great brand for breads, i recommend the whole grain wide loaf because otherwise, the slices are a bit small. my brother has celiac and my sisters have Hashimoto's, so we've been doing gluten free a long time. veganism has gone in and out because it does get a little tricky.
My sister has celiac and eats vegan as much as she can (minus exception for eggs)... she's never been someone to eat bread even before she was diagnosed, but some of her gluten free favorite brands are Vans and Nature's Path gluten free waffles (the pumpkin spice waffles are BOMB), the Lotus Foods ramen are reallllllly good, most of the Beyond Meat products are gluten free, and when she does eat pasta, it's Banza but I know thats a hit or miss for most people. I bake a lot and bake with her in mind, and the Bobs Red Mill 1:1 Gluten Free Flour mix is the best! She is getting married this fall and I'll be making her wedding cake (gluten free vegan funfetti cake!!!). Anyway, I hope these little tips help.
Also!! You might like downshiftology! She’s on youtube here! she has celiac disease and a lot of her meal preps and recipes are gluten free! I like the way she does her videos too 🤍
Definitely start watching julien solomita’s videos if you don’t already. He has celiacs disease/is vegan and most of his content is cooking videos! I think you’d find them really helpful
Good Eatings makes GORGEOUS GF vegan food that's often outside of what I would normally think to cook. Pick Up Limes and Simply Quinoa have a ton of great GF vegan recipes too xx
hi sorry im like over a week late to this vid lmao (been catching up on your stuff recently)! anyways, i would love if u did an animal crossing island tour lol. not sure if you've considered it or not but id love to see your home/island/villagers :)
so excited to see your new place, when you get it! I love that you're taking life by the horns and making changes. 🖤 I definitely second all the recommendations to check out Julien Solomita's cooking videos (and also Jenna's, she's made some things on her channel too!) -- on instagram, which is where I get most of my recipes lately, I am obsessed with @earthofmariaa, @gatherednutrition, @woon.heng (literally the most incredible vegan and often GF non-americana chef I follow!!!! highly rec!), and @veggiekins, who is also here on UA-cam! power to you, doll! can't wait to try our your bahn mi recipe. 🙏
im a gluten free vegan, by necessity and def not by choice! being gf makes me sad, but im allergic and my body just functions better without it. gluten free pasta is hit or miss-- the key is to not overcook it and to make sure to follow the instructions (especially if it calls for rinsing!!), or else they will fall apart really easily. right now i really like the chickpea pasta from banza, but it does have a slight taste. gluten free bread is really only worth it if its toasted...its still kinda foamy but if you can't do without it, follow your heart makes good bread. bob's red mill makes good gf flours/cake mixes! i would recommend using the bob's egg replacer instead of chia seeds if you ever did that though, because the gf flour really needs something to bind it together. oh, and i gave up on baking gf vegan cakes. i can do banana bread, cupcakes, etc but baking a full sized cake is impossible and not worth it. besides that, you will adjust but it will still be a life without sourdough :/ its not *that* bad though!
Wow I never knew how much we had in common - I’m a Gemini and also have hashimoto 😂 ... I’ve never considered going gluten-free before though, but now I might have to also try it ...
check out @veganceliac on instagram! also my roommate has celiac, my other roommate is allergic to nuts, and i am vegan so i KINDA know the struggle with trying to find recipes that are vegan and GF friendly AND nut-free lol! my celiac roommate lives by cauliflower rice (even tho rice is GF lol) and she loves banza and black bean pasta! for friendsgiving i made vegan baked garlic mac and cheese with GF macaroni made from rice and it tasted great! from my experience, being vegan and GF is just finding replacements for normal vegan ingredients, like GF pastas and breads and using Coconut Aminos instead of soy sauce so it shouldnt be too different! and nowadays most restaurants have GF options if they have vegan and vice versa. good luck🖤🖤
I think the most important thing when dealing with health-related dietary restrictions is to take care of yourself first. I hope you can find a solution to remaining vegan while also avoiding gluten, but if for some reason it ends up not being possible and you become nutrient-deficient or sick, don't beat yourself up too much. Being vegan is an amazing, wonderful thing for the planet, animals, and people, but it isn't sustainable or healthy for everyone. I had to stop being 100% vegan due to my autoimmune disease, and it was a really rough transition mentally. Again, I hope you can find a solution to remaining vegan as that would be the best outcome, but remember that you and your health come first, and it simply isn't true that everyone can be 100% vegan all the time.
Oh no I’m so sorry to hear gluten no longer agrees with you! Might be worth checking out some recipes from honeybunch of onion tops on UA-cam or her blog, she’s another vegan but she cant have gluten either and she has some great recipes and ideas!
this video was posted less than a day ago and has 11k views and her last video has 5.9k views and was posted a week ago,, if that doesn’t prove that videos related to black lives matter get shadowbanned idk what does
I don’t know why the “oh shit I bought thai basil” was so cute to me, you never curse so it was just a cute moment !!
Same! I watched it like 3 times haha
That was so so funny she’s so wholesome
you make the most yummy looking vegan food

next time I'm in oc im going to find a way to casuallyyyyy invite myself over in hopes that I can get one of those sandwiches omg

also it's terribly sad that the baguette queen herself is supposed to avoid gluten
10:40 actually its good to use it bc it also gets rid of the acidity from the tomatoes :)
Happy late birthday! So excited about the moving vlogs
this upload is just what I needed today :') missed u Lindsey

Just keep reading the labels and follow some vloggers/bloggers who are health-nuts! They help a lot. Good luck, wishing you good health :)
As a Vietnamese, pretty proud that you love eating banh mi.
I'm not gluten free but I try to avoid gluten when I can the best pasta option in my opinion is 100% Banza!
Love your vlogs! Happy bday btw xo
i love watching u cook in ur vlogs :)
I’ve never tried sprouted bread before I’ll have to try!!!
Watching you slice through that baguette was just incredible :O how did you do it so easy!!
The Girlfriend Collective is a great brand to work with
those banh mi looks so good! imma try it out ❤️
My sister-in-law recently found out she is sensitive to gluten and it’s been hard for her.
Banh mi is my favorite and yours looks amazing😍And now I want to try Violife parmesan!!!
this video made me so happy!!!!! you look so happy!!!! you're doing great!!!!! :))))
Loved this video ❤️❤️❤️ love the cooking videos too yay♥️♥️💕💕💕
need to try the banh mi asap it loooks soooo good wow
hey!! gf vegan here, it's actually much easier than you think. my fav pasta is brown rice pasta (TJ's brand is great) and banza pasta. for bread the food for life brown rice bread is delicious but pricey. but for the most part i just stick to naturally gf staples (rice, oats, quinoa, corn tortillas, etc). most restaurants nowadays i feel like have pretty gf-friendly options. you got this!
i loooove the recipes you make, can you recommend a good vegan /vegetarian recipe app ??
Where is your couch from? It's so cute
hope everythings doing ok! i always love to watch ur videos, and i always reflect and am shocked that ive been a viewer for 4 years cos time has flown by:)
I feel the sriracha mayo obsession haahah I go through mayo and sriracha like no one's business ✨
jovial pasta is the best gluten-free one! shär's bread is good, not all their products are vegan but the breads pretty much are. o'doughs makes good bagels and sandwich buns and flatbreads. little northern bakehouse is another great brand for breads, i recommend the whole grain wide loaf because otherwise, the slices are a bit small. my brother has celiac and my sisters have Hashimoto's, so we've been doing gluten free a long time. veganism has gone in and out because it does get a little tricky.
how do u style ur bangs please i must know 🥺
My sister has celiac and eats vegan as much as she can (minus exception for eggs)... she's never been someone to eat bread even before she was diagnosed, but some of her gluten free favorite brands are Vans and Nature's Path gluten free waffles (the pumpkin spice waffles are BOMB), the Lotus Foods ramen are reallllllly good, most of the Beyond Meat products are gluten free, and when she does eat pasta, it's Banza but I know thats a hit or miss for most people. I bake a lot and bake with her in mind, and the Bobs Red Mill 1:1 Gluten Free Flour mix is the best! She is getting married this fall and I'll be making her wedding cake (gluten free vegan funfetti cake!!!). Anyway, I hope these little tips help.
yes so helpful thank you!!! I love that you’re making her wedding cake
I don’t like tofu but I might try it with that marinade 🤭
Also!! You might like downshiftology! She’s on youtube here! she has celiac disease and a lot of her meal preps and recipes are gluten free! I like the way she does her videos too 🤍
Absolutely love your videos so much 🥰
Definitely start watching julien solomita’s videos if you don’t already. He has celiacs disease/is vegan and most of his content is cooking videos! I think you’d find them really helpful
Good Eatings makes GORGEOUS GF vegan food that's often outside of what I would normally think to cook. Pick Up Limes and Simply Quinoa have a ton of great GF vegan recipes too xx
do you have an air fryer?? i think you would love one tbh!!
yes I do love it haha
hi sorry im like over a week late to this vid lmao (been catching up on your stuff recently)! anyways, i would love if u did an animal crossing island tour lol. not sure if you've considered it or not but id love to see your home/island/villagers :)
so excited to see your new place, when you get it!
So exciting about the move!
Missed you 🖤🖤

ahhh your hair here omg
have missed your content lindsey
You should watch Julien (Jenna marbles boyfriend) on UA-cam he makes all vegan gluten free meals 💖
im a gluten free vegan, by necessity and def not by choice! being gf makes me sad, but im allergic and my body just functions better without it. gluten free pasta is hit or miss-- the key is to not overcook it and to make sure to follow the instructions (especially if it calls for rinsing!!), or else they will fall apart really easily. right now i really like the chickpea pasta from banza, but it does have a slight taste. gluten free bread is really only worth it if its toasted...its still kinda foamy but if you can't do without it, follow your heart makes good bread. bob's red mill makes good gf flours/cake mixes! i would recommend using the bob's egg replacer instead of chia seeds if you ever did that though, because the gf flour really needs something to bind it together. oh, and i gave up on baking gf vegan cakes. i can do banana bread, cupcakes, etc but baking a full sized cake is impossible and not worth it. besides that, you will adjust but it will still be a life without sourdough :/ its not *that* bad though!
thank you 👏🏼 I’m taking notes
when I became vegan and had to remove gluten for a few month, corn tortillas became my best friend
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!
Nice video! R u related with liv B?
Oh no I’m so sorry to hear gluten no longer agrees with you! Might be worth checking out some recipes from honeybunch of onion tops on UA-cam or her blog, she’s another vegan but she cant have gluten either and she has some great recipes and ideas!
love you 💌
Take a look at Caitlin Shoemaker on UA-cam!! She has tonnes of vegan & GF recipes! 💛
You look sooooo much like @itslivB !!😍
