I know this is late in replying but the reason why there was a Yogi Bear album as well as other cartoon figures scattered throughout the film "Bye Bye Birdie" was because the director was the guy who financed Hanna and Barbera so they could open their own studio after MGM closed its animated cartoon division in 1957. It was a business decision that happened to fit in with the movie. The next time you watch the movie look closely and you'll see Kim's younger brother wears Deputy Dawg pajamas and there are Flintstone figures in Kim's room.
Could be my favorite musical number ever put on film. This movie is the harbinger of AMERICAN GRAFFITI, HAPPY DAYS, LAVERNE & SHIRLEY, GREASE, etc. When I finally saw this film back in 2007 I nearly fell out of my chair at how many other film & TV shows riffed on this classic musical! I just couldn't believe how influential this film has been.
@@adamhainsworth9602 Yes, that sequence is definitely in my top 10. I was lucky enough to be in THE TONIGHT SHOW audience back in January, 1985 when Gene Kelly was promoting his new movie THAT'S DANCING. I was with actress Holly Hunter (before she became famous) and Vanna White sat three rows ahead of us. Everyone in the audience was talking about Vanna and I had no idea who she was - WHEEL OF FORTUNE was barely five months old!
I always wonder if Harvey ever actually got a date. Well, at least in the song "Lotta Livin' to Do", Kim cozied up to him briefly, trying to make Hugo jealous. Probably the biggest thrill of Harvey's life 😂.
These days, the kids would just fire off a text to all their friends, and the friends would hit the ones the original friends missed, etc., and instead of a singable song, it would just be everyone's message alert sounds going off.

Just so you guys know "getting pinned" is the equivalent to becoming exclusive with someone
Thanks for your comment! I'm going to "pin" it so everyone sees it. ;-)
The xNYr I see what you did there
Back then, getting pinned meant putting a mans favorite pin on a girls sweater which means he adores the girl
Sugar Skull thankgod
Partysarefun1 I thought it meant the same thing as nailing a girl.
"Kim, where did he pin you?" "On the back seat. Bless that lovely yellow school bus" 😂. Yes, I know it's an actual pin but love the double entendre 😉.
You're the first person to catch that... THANK YOU!
Nope, no double entendre at all...she got fucked 😂😂😂 and must've really enjoyed it 😉
This is just the best slice of The early 60’s. The clothes , the shoes, the Telephones! The dances look like our social dancing, not too perfect.
