I had a question about the transgo shift kit. I noticed when you downshift to 2nd it goes right in gear. Did it do that before the shift kit? Mine will go into 1st when I shift it but it will not go into second. I have to come to a stop than it will shift 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
From what I was told and understand to be right the 1-2 shift is controlled by the modulator valve the 2-3 is the governor it controls the shifts by the spinning or rpm of the governor , and it will also control down shifts from 3- 2 . Before the trans go my truck would shift really fast from 1-2 like I didn't even have a 1st gear and it would not shift from 2-1 until I was almost at a complete stop although manually it would shift fine if I did it that way . The shops do not rebuild the valve body and those plungers can get worn and bind up inside also there is springs to replace in other words they do not rebuild them and mine came right out of a rebuild shop when it did these things . I actually called them and told them and they never gave me a solution when I told them I was going to install a shift kit they said why we do things in the valve body No ......they lied I'm not a mechanic or trans expert I did it my self on a bench and I know 100 % they never touched the valve body . Overall the trans go helped a lot but if your having issues from 1-2 up or down check your modulator valve and the pin that's inside I made just a slightly longer pin out of a clothes hanger and it made it shift on time instead of to fast and by measurements the pin that was in it was too short . There's a pin sizing chart out there online for C4 / C6 only thing I can think is that either the P..O lost the original length shift pin or the lying trans shop lost it and just put pin from another trans .
Hope that helps if it shifts manually at normal RPM ranges up and down then it could just be a minor issue although if it does not shift down from 3-2 manually could be a sticky governor they would put a check ball inside to keep it from doing that from what I hear .
