I am from Russia, Western Siberia to be exact (no, it’s not that bad ). My husband and I lived in Asheville since 2004 and absolutely love it here! In 2015 we became parents to a baby boy, Dmitry (named after my grandfather). And in January 2020 Dmitry became a big brother to Katya. We now share our home with Romeo, who is a jack russell (We lost our first dog in 2022).

I live in Morganton, only 45 minute drive to Asheville, awesome small town living!

Great video. If I ever leave Denmark and move to USA, western North Carolina would be my favorite, only a little east of Asheville, like the area around Lenoir, Blowing Rock or Boone.
I have even written a book about WNC called Land of Friendliness and Beauty

Another thing to consider, in those small little towns there is not enough jobs and you have to go out of town for work, driving 45 mins away back and forth for a decent paycheck

@@Gigi89427 a lot of people who do move to these small towns works from home or start a homestead, so they don’t travel for work. Not all, but a lot. That’s the whole point for most- to be farther from everyone and be able to buy more for their money bc they are either retired, pr work from home

@@release_the_kraken. If you can afford it ,I'd would choose Lake Lure Old Fort, Black Mountain, Little Switzerland , Swannanoa ,Brevard, Winston Salem, Spruce Pine , Morganton, Arden or even Virginia (Never Asheville because there is too many people/ homeless and hippies or Marion because of poverty and crackheads) , in another hand it takes a lot inner strenght to leave everything behind to move to the unknown, it is nice at first but then you start missing the area you left behind terribly because of the things you were able to do there and can't anymore, it is another world! thats when you really really start missing the town you left behind and start to feel very very lonely but can't have family support around you other than phone calls

@@Gigi89427 Thank you for your suggestions on good places to buy, and especially where to avoid. I’m coming from NH and really want to move down there but the family is my big hesitation. They are all busy with their own families now, but I can always pop over. I know I can fly back for visits, and so can they, but it will be very different. Think I’m ready but want a nice, safe area so your post is very helpful. I hope you find peace there.

I mean there are some people who need to wait longer to have their properties to appreciate, because they bought not only at the height of the market, but also had to pay way over asking ($25-$100K over!!) to get a house.
We had a number of clients like that, and I always made sure I explained to them that this should not be a short term investment and that they would have to wait more than 2-3 years to have their property appreciate.
      Does that make sense?

Do not move to any of these towns if you come from a big city, the cultural shock is HUGE , for one she never mentions how HOT HUMID and COLD NC is, there is never in between except for 2 weeks in the middle of September and locals do not like foreigners much ( like me) sounds like someone is trying to sell land

@@livinginashevillenc I am not making assumptions, I am living it. You are trying to sell"greener pastures" when reality is a bunch of people in Mc Dowell county are on welfare, lots of churches in about each corner, guns and meth houses and not enough jobs and homeless spilling from surrounding areas, and yes it is HOT I just paid my electric bill for 350 trying to keep my house cool, maybe cheaper for some in other places but when the mayority of people makes 14 dlls an hour is not enough. That is reality just making a buck in illusions from the past. Have a good day

      Good morning!
Amanda combs with Atlantic Bay finances tiny homes…she sent me this…
A lender from Atlantic Bay offers financing and keep in mind: These properties are smaller homes and not to be confused with HGTV portable tiny homes. 600 Sq ft maximum. 50k min loan amount.
If they have wheels then most likely they aren’t real but personal property and will only require cash.
Stick builds need to have comps.
