Just an interesting note: as a Grunt in a fire team we were told that the Commander's intent was the most important piece of info in the OpOrd... When the plan goes to shit (and it will) it is important to know what you are trying to accomplish...
PSA at OCS from 2018 on, Commanders intent is now a part of it. It is broken down into three areas Purpose, Method and End State. Why do you need to do this mission, How are you going to, and how do you want the battlefield to look after the objective is achieved.

Hey man, my recruiter is saying that if I attend OCS via the PLC program and finish OCS successfully I can then decide if I want to commission as an officer or go back to being a civilian. is this really true?
Yes. This is true. The advantage of going Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) is that you can attend PLC Juniors one summer (6 weeks) and then have 1 whole year to decide whether you want to go to PLC Seniors (6 weeks) the following summer. I believe that even if you complete PLC Seniors, you can decline commission. Going PLC gives you time to decide whether you want this or not. Good Luck!
Yes, the way my Captain explained it was you don't have to accept the contract even if you successfully complete OCS. If you don't want to be there, they don't want you there.

Good stuff! I wish we had these kind of resources when I went through ROTC back in the late '80s.
Thanks for the video. One of the best Op Order explanations I've heard.
I appreciate your feedback, I felt like it was long overdue! You're welcome.
I'm a Seabee and we use all of this. Much appreciated.
This is how I still organize my thoughts and plans, even after college. A Marine I was once close with taught me how to write them.
Great summary when you've been exposed to the details already. The mnemonics are great.

Leave it to officers to take something as simple as S.A.L.U.T.E. report and twist it up.
OCS makes the rules. Not Officer Candidates. We were taught in the form TSUALE because it flows better in the Op-Order.
😂

The Kiwis use G for Ground as opposed to O. Nice brief, thanks.
Good info
Why did you abbreviate 'Enemy Forces' as "TSUALE" instead of "SALUTE"?
Thats how its briefed at OCS, TSUALE
@@ValentineUSMC Can you please share a link to the MCWP or other academic material where this is explained?
You wont find an MCDP or SOP manual that explains it, just know its the same abbreviations but briefed as TSUALE.
@@ValentineUSMC Correct. That is how it is taught at OCS. The form SALUTE is easy to remember. But the form TSUALE Flows better during the Op-Order.
When the primary purpose of SMEAC was to be universal for all NATO allies and the marine corps diverges and adds the "O"

Yes. You have the choice to either accept or decline commission upon completing Marine Corps OCS.

TSUALE?!? Don’t you mean SALUTE?
It used to be briefed as SALUTE. But simply because the accronym SALUTE is easy to memorize. It is now briefed to flow better in the form of TSUALE.
