awesome dialog! three local boys from Hawai'i talking story about life and the struggles living in the islands. I wanted to relocate my ohana to Las Vegas on three different occasions. in 1993, 2004, and 2012 but my ohana and I decided to move from oahu to hilo in 2004.
as a native kanaka and having a deep connection to the aina and the maoan. just the thought of leaving hurts! but watching you local boys talk story about the same subject we have been pondering for years, we now have a better understanding and clearer prospective. when our time comes we definitely want you to represent us as our realtor.

I live in Hilo and own two homes free and clear, but my family is returning to Las Vegas after 6 years back in Hawaii. I love Hawaii but beyond the cost of home ownership the price of living for second class goods and services are not worth the trade off. The beach gets old after a while and the lack of options in employment, entrepreneurship, and entertainment are abysmal. Couple that with a failing infrastructure , high taxes, rampant drug abuse, crime and homelessness, inept government with a laundry list of overreach and consistent criminal failures. Its time to make a run for it before we mutate into mini Australia.
you should sell your two homes to locals that could make a home out of it ~
Never heard of Augie T, but I stumbled onto this in my random UA-cam feed, and I kept saying, “This guy is really funny. He should try comedy! LoL Yeah, really funny… but he speaks from the heart about the struggle of the kanaka and even kama'aina even having to leave for economical bad management.” Fast forward a bit, his best time enjoying the Aloha spirit at my alma mater, Gtown! Haha… a lot like my father when I was growing up.

Hawaii has a large Kupuna / Senior Citizen(s) / Elderly Population in Hawaii; plus the Military (Active and the Weekend part-time staff; Veterans at Tripler ("Crippler") Army Medical Center; You need teachers that help teach about Health Care, because I think that Health Care is Important. You need more higher paying jobs, than just Retail. I don't know about Tourism, brah...
Cost of living, rent keeps going up every year too small of a living space for my son, some of the reasons I moved to Las Vegas from hawaii. I love hawaii if I had a choice I would stay but the sad reality is that not everyone can pay to live in the paradise.
